A movie from the civil war wouldn’t be bad. Orwell escaping Barcelona and the communists trying to kill him.

@@p0rq there’s one heavily inspired by A Homage To Catalonia named Land and Freedom(1995) made by leftist political filmmaker Ken Loach. Haven’t seen it yet but I’ve heard good things and he did a decent job portraying the early IRA 1920s insurgency in The Wind That Shakes The Barley(2006). He’s biased toward a pro-socialist viewpoint though(if you mind that sort of thing),but I don’t think that it really detaches from the quality of his films.

A constitutional monarchy is the nations best hope for stability and continuity. An institution above party politics who can only advise and warn. In England much of the benefit is the power that Elizabeth ll denies to others. Churchill said getting rid of the Kaiser was a mistake and that's why Japan was allowed to retain the Emperor.

No, a Unitary Catholic Absolute Monarchy is the nation’s best hope for stability and continuity. We need a King who won’t be tied down by constant elections in order to do God’s Will.

Here we are, nearly half a century on. Juan Carlos, caught up in economic corruption and showing contempt for the ordinary citizen of Spain in his lavish and indulgent lifestyle, abdicated in 2014, possibly to devote more time to his tax evasion and receipt of bribery activities.
I suppose his best moment was in 1981, in failing to lend support to Lieutenant-Colonel Tejero’s attempted coup, in favor of the fledgling democracy.

Most of my life since this documentary came out, I heard nothing but how evil Franco was and how the poor leftist revolutionaries were so heroic.
Then I watched the 2 hour Franco documentary and the Spanish Civil War documentary on the Zoomer Historian channel and realised that Spain was going to become a Stalinist prison country in the 1930's and Franco stopped that.
Franco was a hard man but he saved Spain and prevented Spain from becoming like North Korea.
There is a reason George Orwell wrote 1984 after he fought on the leftist side in the Spanish civil war and saw just how evil the leftists are.
