I just found your video, as stated, this is the best video on this product. You are the first one I've found that shows how to replace the files. Those purchasing fake knock-off 2 in 1 sharpeners will find this a problem as the files don't remove easily. The fakes also sometimes pop open while sharpening. I still like the 2 in 1 but have discovered that the Dremel diamond burrs are much easier and faster. They produce a much better cutting chain too. Good video, thanks.

@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Update, I've recently returned to primarily using the Stihl 2in1. I've been doing a lot of sawing lately and found out the 2in1 is more consistent than doing it freehand with diamond stones or just a file. It's so important to keep those depth gauges set right. The 2in1 is more difficult to use when used correctly (especially out in the woods). But the added effort over freehand makes for a longer lasting chain (in my opinion). P.S. If a person tends to be sloppy and doesn't follow your instructions here, they'd probably be better off just using a file.

Great comment Clint and thanks for sharing. I had a similar experience. I originally bought off eBay and overpaid like you. One of my files were broken to boot! The guy came through and made it right, which was nice, but if I would’ve just hopped in the car and driven a few miles in the first place. I would of saved well over 50.00 bucks and a couple days time. Sometimes an online convenience isn’t worth it and people definitely overcharge. Isn’t crazy how much cheaper they are at the dealer? Usually dealers do the opposite, that’s why I never even thought to check. Anyhow, yea I have the 3/8p as well for an arbor saw I have. Things eats!!! Appreciate your time my friend, I really do. 😎

Hey Jack! Well that sucks! The only other place (and I just checked) is see what file size you currently need, then go to Amazon and type in Stihl replacement file with the size. I just saw a bunch pop up so I know the sizes are there and they should work in your sharpener. Also, if you don't trust that... maybe call another local shop (maybe in a town or two from you) and see if they can ship you a set.

@Stoney Creek Sparkchaser thanks for your thoughtful note. I have an ms261cm with full comp chain and use the correct 2 in one on it. I have added spare tubes to the square guide rails on the 2 in one for my bigger saws with full skip chains and I am happy with the results. We are cutting about 5 cords out of no marketable log decks also Douglas fir but ends every Friday am for a church wood ministry. I own a 462c, 400c, 034 super and 660 magnum so keeping the saws sharp for volunteer cutters is a challenge. Needless to say the wood can be dirty in rainy muddy western Washington.

That’s awesome that you do that Ronald! You are a true American helping other Americans and I get the rain completely. I also live in western Washington where it seems to never stop raining. Especially this year! You seem very well versed in the use of chainsaws. I use them more often than I think the casual homeowner but would consider myself a novice at best. I live in the forest where trees fall all of the time so Im constantly getting trees unstuck, bucked up and turning them into firewood for my house. Im sure you know this, but did you know that full skip chains are mostly used right here in the PNW? I think that’s correct… I have yearly chainsaw safety class at my work and Im pretty sure I heard that years ago. I recently went home to help my dad split some wood and do other things and him and his friend didn’t even know what I was talking about. I was like, that chain can eat some wood! Anyhow that’s Pennsylvania and not here. I appreciate the comment and for you sharing your experience. I definitely appreciate the support. Stay safe and have fun out there!
