That baseline is regarded as the most recognizable baseline in all of music. The song refers to their fear of the band breaking up after finally being successful, thus don't break the chain. Its the only Fleetwood Mac song that all the band members share writing credit on.
Hang around the bass guitar department of any Guitar Centre (or local equivalent 😎🏴🤘) and you'll hear that bass line at least once an hour. Likely multiple times per hour on a busy Saturday. It's apparently about as common to be heard as "Stairway" is over in the guitar section. (Per me auld mucker who manages a Seattle area GC)

Fleetwood Mac's 'Tusk' has to be one of the most complicated simple songs ever recorded. It's pretty much all Lindsey Buckingham's doing but what a phenomenal song it is. Please review that but even if you don't review it, just give it a listen. You won't be disappointed.

What is The Chain? Their love of music and finally making it big after all their hard work. It was basically the only thing still holding them all together. That's why every single band member is credited for writing this song.
For context, both main singers were in the midst of a rough as hell break-up. Two other band members were in the midst of a rough divorce. Add cocaine to the mix and you get one helluva soap opera!
