I just watched Morrisey's version and then this. They're both different but equally beautiful. I can't even imagine watching them do this song together. I feel like they both play this song with such emotion because this song has taken on new meaning. If you search Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want Live on CZcams, you get Morrisey and then Marr. They both perform the hell out of the song. It's almost creates this "This song says exactly what drove us apart. We both have what we want and now we are apart. It's bittersweet" It's truly sad and you can see it in their faces. I wonder if they think about their time in the Smiths more when they do this song than any other song.
That was so hauntingly beautiful and very well said. I hope they do think about their time in The Smiths together. But, only the good times, for a change.

I'm not a HUGE Smiths fan, but I LOVE Johnny Marr's playing style, he truly is unique. In a band each member has a role but as evident from this beautiful rendition it does not mean that's all they're capable of. Johnny put over that song masterfully and gave us a glimpse of how talented he is
This is my all-time favorite song and if you had asked me before I saw this if anyone should ever sing this song but Morrissey, I would have said no. And been wrong. Johnny's soul is as much a part of the song as Morrissey's and it comes through in that rendition. I think this is better than the original. I know Marr isn't as good a vocalist as Morrissey, but he's still a good singer, and moreover the guitars on this are as good as on any performance he's ever given.
