Papillons check all the boxes. Absolutely the best companion dog I've ever seen. They are intelligent, loving, and yet independent at the same time. Very clean, don't smell "doggy", hardly shed at all. Highlights are their very upbeat attitude - they love life and love being a dog. They also have an almost telepathic ability to understand what you're saying to them and respond with a wide array of facial expressions. 10 out of 10.
I had 2 adopted Papillons that were the loveliest dogs I ever had. The sweetest personality, not to mention beautiful. That’s the only breed for me now.
Paps are the best - but please remember Paps are high energy and people loving, so if you're looking for a lap dog or are gone for long periods of the day this is not the dog for you
If anyone knows a puppy that wouldn’t mind a couple a middle aged parents… I know a writer that lives in the snow for 9 months of the year. Vet&groomer buit in already for the chi/pap I adopted. No intentions of breeding these two… just a friend to play with.🥰Kinda love this breed. Used to play 4H then AKC with my Shih Tzu’s. Can’t seem to find one close to home😢If you know a guy… hook a sister up. Love the light coloring if possible. Really just depends on the heart.🤞😘🎉
We are now with our third Papillon dog who is 7 months old. He flatly refuses to house train and we are at our wits end. He is the 8th dog we have had over 56yrs of marriage and is the very worst to toilet train. No matter how often you take him out or keep him out he comes in and does his jobs in the house. I was a police dog handler so l know my way around dogs but this is driving me crazy so if anyone out there is reading this and has any ideas l would welcome them.
Well, when we asked our breeder (when getting a second dog - our first was a male) whether we should get another male or a female, she said, “Well, there’s a reason they call them bitches.” She also said that the boys tend to be sweeter than the girls. We have had only boys, so don’t have a lot of experience with girls. We did foster a 7-month-old girl, and she really was a bitch. We had to keep her separated from our 2 boys (ages 5 and 3) because she would literally beat up on them! We found a good home for her as an only dog and her new owner adored her. We have also know other pap owners who have had girls, and they were fine. It probably comes down to personal preference and the individual dog.
@@TheShilohdad No. I had a really, really sweet papillon girl. It's really nasty that you call papillon females bitches. I love how you try to push gender stereotypes on friggin dogs. It depends on their personality, you really can't generalise them.
@@sanxxxx Um, ever been to a dog show? The two sexes are referred to as “dogs” and “bitches.” That is how dog showers and breeders refer to them. Also, I DID say that I have met perfectly fine female dogs. I have also met nasty males, including papillons. A lot depends on the individual dog and how they are raised, both by the breeder and the owner.
@@sanxxxx I got my very first papillon this summer, & she's the light of my life! She is now 5 months old & loves every human & dog she's ever met! She loves our veterinarian too. Our only problem so far is that she gets car sick EVERY time we go for a drive. It doesn't matter whether she eats before we ride or not, she still pukes. She never pukes on the way home, just on the way there. I'm still hoping she will outgrow her car sickness some day.
