@@Emiliussss Hell, I'd argue the original Zero's worse than Zero Two in terms of official Kirby horror, they had way more experience with pixel spritework than polygonal models to really make the whole tearing-their-own-eye-out-of-their-main-body-to-continue-fighting thing appropriately gruesome even while remaining mostly consistent with the rest of Dreamland 3's srtstyle. As well as... well, like I said in another comment to this video, idk if brazenly spoiling Forgotten Land is appropriate just yet so I'll just leave it vague beyond something being in that game hehe ^^;

So fun fact: Shinya Kumazaki (the current director of Kirby), does horror art. And I mean like full eldritch horror and Silent Hill level stuff. It's super shocking to the people who don't know Kirby, and very unsurprising for the people who do.

I had an idea for a silly Kirby FNAF fangame years ago that isn't actually horror, just used the mechanics. You'd be King triple D and just want all of these kirbies to leave you alone, and the "jumpscare" is him pooping up with a cute little "poyo!" The game over screen being Dedede annoyed that these kirbies are all dogpiling on him with hugs.
Someone can take this idea and run with it if they want lol

In planet robobot we see a grieving father die, have his soul consumed, then slowly erased by a machine while we are forced to kill the machine and at the end of the fight we can even hear his cries of pain.
The entire franchise is about a cute pink ball with the power to end worlds dealing with things that would make most video games protagonist cry in a corner.

Tbh I feel that kirby should get some more horror games,
I mean on the first glance kirby just looks like a silly kids game but when you look a little harder you find scary stuff, a really good example is zero from kirby dreamland 3 and also kirby 64 where it litterly bleeds from its eye,
So I'm suprised kirby hasn't gotten more horror material in terms of horror/exe games.

Tbh I don’t play Kirby all that much. I just play the games that are on the NES collection on switch. My knowledge on the games is very surface level. Like I know 02 exists but that’s probably the furthest extent of my knowledge.

a Kirby horror game could work very well actually because:
1) the official games often have creepy/disturbing character designs/story's
2) it would work well because of the contrast principle
3) Popstar has a very dreamlike look to it so it can easaly be turned into something nightmarish and/or liminal
4) there exists a lot of source material that has the potential for a horror game (Dark Matter and Zero, King Dedede stealing all the food, literal "dark" versions existing of pretty much every character, Popstar being terraformed by HAL and Queen Sectonia)
With all the cosmic horror these games hide, you could make a horror game based purely off of that.

Like, there's an enemy that looks cute, and if you try to inhale it like any other enemy, it turns into a scarier version and starts chasing you! Marx dies in space and we see his corpse floating, then he gets brought back and cuts himself in half. 0 bleeds on you! Earth is a post-apocalyptic wasteland!

I feel like the reason there are so few horror Kirby games is mainly due to the fact that the main series does a good job doing horror on its own. Its never in your face, mostly subtle, and just changes how you look at the pink puff after you start delving into that rabbit hole. And to think that its because of one mysterious developer making Kirby 2 on GB and thinking "Yes, I did just make lore in a game that didn't need it... but absolutely deserves it."

I assume a lot of comments are wilding about this take, but I think an actual body/cosmic horror game about guys like 02, Marx and Void Termina would slap. Fun fact: in a game featuring Metal Gear, Bayonetta and Persona rep, Marx is one of the few things that had to be censored in order for Smash Ultimate to maintain its age rating.

Kirby games are terrifying on their own but no one is explaining why. It’s because kirby (the character) is a innocent person being subjected to horrors with seeing his friends be controlled and ripped apart with their bodies. Seeing that characters can just be naturally cruel with no motive, and doing it all again in the next game. Its the fact that in nature its innocent but when the curtain is pulled the games talk about family neglect, body manipulation, mind control, loosing sanity etc. and its honestly really cool and unique to see in a canon Nintendo game series
Imagine the weird MegaMan exe games I'm honestly not sure if any horror games have been made I only remember vaguely one MegaMan creepypasta with I think the Yellow Devil
