-------- --------- -------- -------- -----
~ One of the most Spectacular And Smart British Bands back in the day "URIAH HEEP" , who created by the remarkable musician Mick Box. They made their first appearance in London, England in 1969 with their special talents and the voice of Byron with unbelievable dimensions.
~ First of all, consisted of Mick Box guitar, Roger Penlington drums, David Garrick vocals, as known as David 'Byron', who learn commercial success with the first Uriah,s Album "Very Easy Very Umble" in 1970. Many months later listened the Name 'Ken Hensley' guitar in URIAH HEEP, who created perfect songs together in the World Of Hard Rock Music. Another success story of Uriah were Alex Napier drums and Paul Newton bass, who replaced the sound of Old Age of Blues, Rock N Roll & Rockabilly with the spectacular smells of Hard, Progressive Rock & Heavy Metal Music.
~ Overall "URIAH HEEP" not only stood out at that time for their talents, but also we must be know that the experimental music can grow up with rapid rythms!!!

Nobody before or since can scream a song like David in his prime. How he didn't shred his vocal cords by 71 is a real miracle. Man i miss those days

David Byron the best vocalist for Uriah Heep.Diction was perfect and stage presence was brilliant. Saw this line up many times at Newcastle City Hall and never left disappointed.Still listening to their music 50 years on.Stll fresh today.Beats modern day efforts and musicianship by a mile.
Well said Ed, I couldn't agree more. There still giging 50+ years on ! I can't see the jungle jive lasting that long.
I am listening to Uriah Heep every day!!!
Good choice sir!!
Verveeld letterlijk nooit!!!
"Sunrise" & "July Morning" were two "URIAH HEEP" songs, I still prefer even up for today !!!!!!* They were the most influential on me. Yo ))))
and whats about lady in black??
@@pcpete911 It is a song written by Hensley ... of course a very good one, too !!!! :o)

And next any song because this was one of the most underrated bands in history with Byron one of the greatest vocalists.

Don't forget Salisbury
In 1973, I moved to Reno, Nevada and the local radio stations played Uriah Heep. I got into Heep then. In 1974 I moved back to Sacramento and they played very little Heep. When buying CDs I made sure to buy some Heep.
You've got your top 10, I've got mine.
I like David Byron as Vocalist, Better than other Vocalist of Uriah heep.
Ian Gillan and David Byron - my favourite vocalists of hard-rock. Ozzy is n°3.
"I can not NOT to fully agree with U !!!!" :o)
I saw David Byron live in Munich and was completely disappointed. Just listen to the live albums: hardly ever really good. But he was a very good singer on the studio albums.
Of course, he is the only true singer in Uriah Heep. Without him? Nothing!
Which one?
*KIWI base guitar player Gary Thain .... was the best of the best base players for "URIAH HEEP" ever !!!!* AMEN.
Big influence on my playing.....great walking bass lines.
Magicians Birthday......in my top 5 albums of all time...pure genius!!! Two favorite tracks....Stealin and Rain.
@Andrei Hag Oh no...love Sunrise..brilliant song....but Stealin and Rain my two fave Heep tracks thats all.
@Andrei Hag No worries Andrei.....you have a great taste in music....and you admire one of the most underrated and brilliant bands of all time. I might even pull out Sweet Freedom and turn it up to eleven on the stereo. Go well mate!
Uriah Heep was always my sentimental favorite group. And the "Uriah Heep Live" album is one of the greatest albums ever.
RIP John Lawton. This has been a very horrible couple of years for Band members. Lee Kerslake, Ken Hensley, John Wetton & now John Lawton all passed away recently. Your music lives on.
Yeah, we're really starting to lose everybody now, aren't we? For me, this week it was Robby Steinhardt of Kansas as well. I remember saying to a friend of mine to really get ready as we enter the 2020's because everyone is going to start dropping like flies this decade. Believe it or not, all of these musicians from that age are now well into their 70's going into their 80's now. You just don't want to lose them. It's sad to watch.
@@hzv7242 Pete way of ufo rip a true maniac rocking madman.
The best group ♥ The most beautiful and melodic rock 💖 thanks for the interesting photos
One of the greatest bands in rock history and one of the most unfairly treated!
Uriah Heep was a drastically underrated band of the entire 70s. A band that deserved the same relevance, fame and longevity as did YES, Nazareth, Sweet and Badfinger. Yet no mention of 'Sweet Lorraine' or 'The Brother Road'???
R.I.P. John Lawton
Uriah Heep😍🤘🎸
David Byron was the best Singer of the Group ✌️
Most underrated band of all time.
agreed..rated high in my mind tho
Not in Germany!
@@wolfgangscorset2855 Nor in New Zealand!
There's another similar band without the keyboards called 'Budgie' who are almost criminally underrated.
Uriah Heep is not underrated

My God. I adore Uriah Heep!
From Russia with love. Michael
When I was a student, Uriah Heep was my favourite group!
I like all their albums.
From Russia with love.
Demons and wizards, great cover art and awesome rock, rock on brothers and sisters.May rock roll never die.
Love Uriah Heep with David Byron singing. What a great Band
Yes, Lady in black, number one. Very underrated band.
my favorite rock group of the 70s. I did not find the park and rain and come away Melinda on your list, they are great songs
Byron was one of the greatest rock vocalist of all time, what a range, wow! If you saw them live you are one of the lucky ones for sure! I was one of the fortunate ones saw them in LA in the early 80s. Will never forget.
Saw them in St. Louis 1975
Impossible to forget this songs
Tolle Musik, immer wieder gern.
"July morning" started a kind of hippie tradition in Bulgaria in the late 70s / early 80s to travel to the Black Seaside on 30 June to spend the sunrise of 1 July at the sea. It's still alive and going on ...:) John Lawton used to play with BG band BTR at Kamen Bryag for years on July 1st meeting the sunrise there.
They are so underrated nowadays!
Heep was unfairly underrated! Now in retrospect they should be at top of the list of 1970's hard rock groups. Catchy great songs, superb instrumentalists, and a lead vocalist with a stunning voice. Deep Purple and Rainbow etc had maybe more fans, but for me Heep beats them all.
GREAT!

Amazing band
OMG This is the first rock band I got a crush on. Salisbury is a real masterpiece. David Byron my fav singer.
Tears in my eyes is my number one
GOLDEN YEARS OF ROCK HAVE GONE TO FOREVER & ON TO THE ROCK HEAVEN... MY LORD BLESS... FOR WHAT WE HAVE DONE...RETURN TO THE ROCK FANTAZY
OMG I listened to them so often when I was a teenager, and I still appreciate their talent
Great band !
David Byron is the man! Great list.
I’ve been a UH since 1972. I don’t necessarily agree with some of these picks - some I do - but we all have opinions.
"July Morning" is my no. 1. I'd have to include "Been Away Too Long", "Real Turned On", "Choices", "One Way Or Another" in my top ten.
I agree that "July Morning" must be no.1. "Choices" are in my top 5, as well as "The Dance". And now I enjoy listening "Is Anybody Gonna Help Me", "Trail of Diamonds", and "Rocks in the Road".
Definitely July Morning as the best, and speaking of which the Best of Uriah Heep is a great album
@@harrygaul4475 I bought "The Best Of Uriah Heep" on LP & cassette when it 1st came out. Thrashed it !!
How can you forget "The spell". Confession. Tales. The Magician's Birthday. Circle of Hands. Paradise. Firefly. The Wizard. Echoes in the Dark and Gypsy live ?
I always loved Gary Thain awesome stage presence and heavy Bass sound
My preferred lineup was with Hensley, Byron, Box, Thain, Kerslake. John Lawton (Lucifer's Friend), Pete Goalby were adequate, but Byron had that Heep sound. Bernie Shaw was a very nice surprise. Nice set of pipes. Mick Box sole original member.
ALL songs ARE Nice. Impossible to choose one.
Saw them back in 1977. Still a fan.
They were a great band they were way ahead of their time
Insightful ,- appreciate your excellent efforts
One of my all time favorite bands ever!!!!! Very underrated!!!
Bill!!! I do have to agree with you bud!!! I know all this but just didn't go into it as deep as you say!! But I do agree with you!!!
Agreed ! The early Rolling Stone review is often referred to. They were unfairly called a 'poor man's Deep Purple', also.
In Germany they wasn't underratet. They sold much Records.
She was never underrated

Every of the world know who is Uriah heep
Write not so shit in likes
"Think it over" is a awesome song too!!!
I could listen to Return to Fantasy over and over again for hours. It is such a tracing song. Thank you for putting it on the top 10 list.
I haven't really heard alot of Uriah Heep but this can't be their 10 best songs, surely!
Agree not even close to their top ten .no sweet Lorain .then not top 10. Lol .hall of fame needed for sure .
Love or nothing...
Saw uriah heep on their first US tour along with Deep Purple in 1972 Minneapolis. They were on fire .
2 years later and I would have been there. Never ended up seeing either live.
I saw Uriah Heep in Indianapolis with Kiss as the warm up band in1974. I was disappointed that Kiss stole the show! I was there to see UH!
Agreed with number 1 , its a beautiful ballad.
Bird of prey, one of the greatest rock songs ever.
I agree this song Is unique diamond
What about Rain? Come away Melynda? Why? TALES?
@Adriano Balus Cover that much better than original.
Tales - the Best!
Such a great Band!
Still to this day!
Today’s lineup is absolutely fantastic!
It’s very hard to compare!
It’s the time we’re in now, people Suck and have no clue how Great this band is!
Keep going guys, you’re the absolute best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Don’t agree!
I’ve seen them live a few times in the last ten years! Absolutely fantastic!
Side 1 of Uriah Heep live is as good as anything Deep Purple were producing in the 70s in my opinion ,
keyboards and vocalists for both bands were to emulate..I give Blackmore the edge on guitar tho..Heep had more speed in a lot of their songs..hard to sit still listening to them
Sorry bud….. I love Uriah heep, they were great but, Deep Purple live were in a class of their own….. I mean come on, you trying to compare mick box to Ritchie Blackmore?…. Mick is alright but no where close to a Blackmore…….
@Andrei Hag agreed…
@@carlocalarco6718 Yes, Blackmore was the better guitarist. But David Byron was the far better singer, and Gary Thain was pretty much the best bassist of the 70s. He's the kind of musician who no fans really know all that well, but a huge amount of bassists admire him and have been influenced by his style.
Deep Purple had Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord. But Uriah Heep had Ken Hensley, David Byron and Gary Thain.
@@PsychedeliKompot David Byron was pretty good too, but I’d favour Ian Gillan, he had a much more broader vocal range… Just my opinion I guess…
Uriah Heep is the world best hard rock band in Europe & the world.
For me one of the greatest bands ever.
Guys, have you heard the last three Heep's albums? I mean "Into the Wild", "Outsider", and "Leaving the Dream". They are so cool!
Into the Wild is amazing!
I couldn’t have been more than 7 years old when I was introduced to Uriah Heep and it gave me chills and still, to this day, when I hear Uriah Heep, I get those same chills. Such a shame Mick Box is the only original member left, got to meet him in ‘93, what a very ‘umble gentleman.
Paul Newton was an original member and is still with us...
As an old fart, I had begun to forget some of my favorite groups and musicians from the sixties and seventies. This group was and is, when the gray cells kick in, a major favorite. I did see Jimi Hendrix in concert in Chicago eons ago. Most amazing rock star ever! We sat eleven rows back from the front and just slightly to the left. Could not hear 100% for two days. It was great!
My favorite band ever , love all lineups.
Glad us Heepsters can all intermingle on the internet over some Videos of their greatest hits throughout time as their music was essentially timeless...thanks to all members that made this happen...
Love them! Completely!❤❤❤❤❤
You can't argue with 40 million albums sold --- RIP Ken -- More young people should listen to this music to understand that the 70's and UK groups were ground breaking innovators of progressive rock, the likes of which may never be seen again
"Easy Living" is definitely my favorite!
Unforgetable...my teeny time
My personal favorite is the epic progressive rock masterpiece, Salisbury. The bass playing by Paul Newton (not John) is absolutely incredible.
It is my favorite Heep album, too. Mine is the American version (Bird of Prey was on the "Very 'heavy, ver 'humble" record), but it will always be my #1 favorite!
Paul Newton is good, Gary Thain is espetacular.
@@visualverbs When I saw their first show in Chicago they came out playing Bird of Prey and it was totally frantic. There was so much motion on state, they must have had very long cords.
You're right. But the person who would probably disagree the most is Paul Newton himself. I've told him exactly the same on a number of occasions, but he always shrugs it off and says "There are a million bass players out there who can do just as well, if not better." Modesty seems to the guy's middle name.

When a song is 50 years old & can still give me goose bumps, I would agree at your number 1 choice. Of course there are many other Hensley/Heep creations that belong right alongside Lady in Black. All equally as great but none that give me goose bumps & I'm 72.
These guys were great in concert got to see theme in Harrisburg
Uriah heep.
Saw them live at the liverpool empire 77/78 one of the best rock bands I have seen
They were huge in Poland in the 70's.We worshiped them religiously with the same passion like we worshiped Deep Purple,Led Zeppelin,Wishbone Ash,Jethro Tull... I was lucky to see Ken Hensley in Antwerp 2 years ago.He supported Status Quo.Great crystal powerful voice, after all these years.... He's greatly missed....
