  • On Christmas Eve, December 24, 1945, a fire destroyed the Sodder residence in Fayetteville, West Virginia. At the time, it was occupied by George Sodder, his wife Jennie, and nine of their ten children. The bodies of the other five children have never been found, but many mysterious coincidences have led to some theories about what may have happened.

Where is the other brother, Joseph, that went to war. Did he ever come back and get involved in the investigation

This case has always been unsettling. You should do Sav the case of The Yuba County Five. That is another perplexing case to look into imo. ❤

A cold case recently got reopened and closed in my city that I would love for you to review. A man went missing at a entertainment complex specifically the movie theater portion in 2018 and was never found. Last month they found his remains less than a mile from where he went missing. We had a very shady police chief who retired after constantly having accusations brought against her and I heavily blame the police department for misconduct because if he was that close he should’ve been found within the first few weeks not 5 (almost 6) years later. Police rules it as non homicide and have not released anymore information. It’s the missing person case of Devonte Lawrence, 24, of Fayetteville, NC.

Great video :) such a sad but fascinating case. Here are a couple of additional interesting facts if you’re interested. In regards to the picture of Louis that was addressed to the mom, Jennie, she did had a brother named Frank Cipriani, who could be “brother Frankie”. The Sodder family had initially suspected him because he lived in Florida. There were witnesses who saw the children get into cars with Florida licence plates. Even the Sodders believed this theory that Jennie’s brother took them because it would’ve been someone they knew. Jennie’s brother also knew Janutolo so it is suspected they were working together. Thank you again for a great video.

I've always found this case to be one that people aren't really looking at in context. These days it's easy to assume that the authorities would have found remains of some kind after someone died in a fire. But what was left of the house smoldered for about 7 hours since the fire department didn't arrive until 7am. From what I've read they had finished their search as soon as 10am, declaring there were no remains of the children in all that rubble. There couldn't have been enough time to do a thorough search, and I doubt the searchers were very effective at identifying things like bone fragments...and they likely thought that anything they found would just further devastate the parents, anyway.
But cases like this are why we shouldn't just assume something happened a certain way and not do a thorough investigation. This case shows the need for proof to get closure. I definitely think the most likely scenario is they did die in that fire, as horribly sad as that is. I don't blame the parents for not wanting to believe it. I really think the bigger mystery is in how the fire started.

I live in Charleston WV and have been to Fayetteville and I've never heard of this case in all my 25 years so this is cool to learn about for me 😀

I’ve lived 15 mins out of Fayetteville my entire life. Up until the mid 90s maybe early 2000s there was a sign in the middle of town with all of the missing kids pictures and their story. Also here in southern Wv to this day most of our fire departments are still volunteer

The mom died in 1989. The property was sold and the sign was removed shortly after. Around 1990 or 1991.

This reminds of another case. One in England, a fire was started by the parents killing several of their children. The father even tried to ‘help’, turns out they wanted the insurance money that came from the house and kids. He also just kept having kids like they were collector’s items.

You present these really well. 29:21 He's attractive. 😍 I believe they were abducted. I believe that the woman who telephoned them did so to make sure that someone was at the residence. Once confirmed, committed arson to take them.

Hey Savannah! Playing catch up with ur vids. I had a lot of questions. As ur telling the story my whole head was swimming. Now I truly feel that those kids left out of that house before the fire started! Before u said it I thought now wait one damn minute. Why weren't they screaming? No one was screaming or anything from that room up there. I also believe when that man went to that house, them kids knew he was their father. It's so sad all the way around. I still say WHY?! ANYWAY thanks for the deeper dive because I'm soo intrigued with the case!! Lol 🥰🥰🤔🤔

Its a crazy story. Just watched another investigation on this over at @UncoveringHistory1636 channel. I personally think a lot of the townsfolk were involved but i think the kids were sadly taken and disposed of unfortunately. Hopefully someone will get this case solved eventually.
