Saw this coming from a mile away, i wasn’t a cat person but I tried taking care of a month old kitten for a friend and I fell in love with the little thing and I’ve had it for 2 years now lol
that's so cute 😢
"It"
@@kaitlin2086 Ok
Every non cat person ever lmao.
Nah cause fuck you we had to be I’ve our dog to a family friend for a couple months and they got “too attached” we had to leave him there 🤦♂️
How hungry was Cody whilst naming the pets?
Yes
Its kinda funny to think they probably got those names because Cody was on an empty stomach
There’s nothing like a cat to turn someone into a cat person fr these guys are so cute 😭😭
Clean cats aren't so bad. I remember my aunt's cat would love to be stroked from head to tail and wouldn't let me stop and he would repeatedly lick me or my shirt wet, stop and push his paws into me one by one and then continue licking. Weird cat but I kinda liked him.
I looked it up and it says those are their way of trying to form a bond and showing affection. I can't believe i just realized that cat loved me 🥹
For collars I recommend break away collars! They’re just like regular collars but if they get stuck on anything they’ll come off easily to keep them safe :)) I’ve used them for my 3 cats and they’ve been great
Yes I second this!!! I didn’t put any collars on my cat because I was afraid she was gonna get stuck on anything. So break away collars for sure!
And then for them to get used to the collars little by little, some other comments have nice tips!
This is the tea, especially since they're climbing around so much etc.
Yes yes yes!! I also advice taking the little bells off, cats may be stressed or irritated by the tingling.
I wish I knew this before, one of our cat died bcs his collar got stuck on a tree branch basically strangling him to death. Until now I still feel so guilty about it. I never used collars to any of our cats again incase they would go outside.
@@alexgrae8226 I’m so sorry for your loss Alex :(
I would say that as long as they have a microchip/animal ID there’s no problem with not putting a collar? Probably?
Never thought Cody would be a cat guy 😂
Well he is Cody the Cinema Cat Ko.
All the more reasons to love him hehe
He didn't either
It’s the parasite
@@averyconner9492 that’s such a shit myth. Cats can only get toxoplasmosis if they’re outside killing animals (the rodents they eat have the parasite, not the cats themselves) and even then, it’s a LOW percentage. People just love cats and people love to shit on that. Cats are fuckin awesome
Cody is exactly my husband when we first got our kittens - doesn’t care for cats, just merely letting them exist in his space & I solely take care of them because they’re my babies…. About a month or two into having them he’d play with them & snuggle with them
my boyfriend HATED cats lol he used to not let mine come near him, now he cant go to bed without them laying on his chest 💀
i knew it this was kelsey's plan all along good job kelsey!!!
I also have two cats that act like dogs. How I taught them their names was whenever I’m giving them excessive affection (always) I just repeat their name over and over to them while they’re purring and enjoying it. And now even if they’re downstairs and I sing their name they run upstairs. Idk if it’s because they linked the sound of the name with getting lovins but either way it worked ! I’m glad you fell in love with them :)
I never know how cats learn their names but they def do! I used to call my boy cat from like anywhere in my house and he would come running, my girl cat cat does it also but not as intense as my boy did.
same w my kitty. he is so smart he knows how to fetch too it’s so funny
The whole “act like dogs’’ thing is a real bummer, cats are there own animals and will treat there humans with affection if there are raised with affection. They are smart, loving and mischievous. And shouldn’t have there good traits co-opted as “like a dog”.
@@xxRAINA1xx I agree with what you are saying, but I also get why people say when some cats act like dogs. I think the opposite also, like some dogs will act like cats. I think it is more comparing the stereotype of a dog/cat. I would hope it is used in a good, fun way. Like most dogs play fetch, but a lot of cats do also but it is seen as a "dog attribute". I am not sure if I am explaining my point well, it's early in the morning lol. I am a cat person and always will be, cats just charm me way more than dogs! (sorry dogs)
@@xxRAINA1xx THIS omg i hate dog ppl for this- and the stereotypes smh
I highly suggest chewy for all your pet stuff!! If it’s doesn’t ended up working for you or they don’t like it, they make it pretty easy with exchanges and returns.
Seconding this! Chewy's customer service is second to none. When I lost one of my cats earlier this year and removed him from my profile they sent me a sympathy card
yes! chewy has these cactus scratching posts that are adorable and look great in my home!! highly recommend
@@KatieKillian That’s so sweet! And sorry for your loss!
I love chewy too! I haven't bought anything big from them yet but I get food, treats, pet dishes, and some toys and scratchers often. Nothing beats their fast shipping, either.
Chewy is the best!! They sent me a card with a couple toys and treats all free just for being a loyal customer! lol
Just to reiterate what other people have posted below:
1. I recommend getting a breakaway collar for the cats. (if their collars aren’t already)
2. I highly recommend the CZcamsr Jackson Galaxy. His videos are entertaining and informative. He really respects cats!
Jackson Galaxy??? I didn't know he had a youtube channel until now
hell yeah jackson galaxy!!
I love Jackson galaxy! Pretty sure I’ve watched every single video he has on CZcams, and I don’t even own a cat lmao
I recommend a small mat underneath the litter boxes! Cats tend to kick up litter and make a little mess, this might be an issue when they get bigger, the mat helps a lot not to dirty ur floors :) as far as them knowing their names just keep calling them by them and as they get older they will eventually pick it up! Just like dogs. So happy you and Cody are keeping them!!
I also recommend chipping them over collars! Cats generally are annoyed w collars/find them uncomfortable :)
@@hgprocks9161 equally if they’re house cats they won’t need a collar !
also maybe get 2 litter boxes so they don't get territorial !
Make sure none of the live plants you have are toxic to their tiny cat bodies! 🥰
As an owner of two very lovey and vocal cats, let me say it’s so fun ‘talking’ to them. Also, friendly tip to desensitize your babies to everything while they’re babies ie: touching paws, touching ears, petting their bellies, touching their nails, harness or leash training, brushing, etc. CONGRATS ON THE TWINS I CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM
ALSO FOR COLLAR TRAINING ONLY LET ONE FINGER LENGTH SO THEY CANT GET THEIR JAW STUCK. Don’t feel bad, it happens to the best of us. Let them hate it, do collar free time. Be patient. Good luck you two
I would totally watch a video of just chili and the cats playing together. Congrats!
engraved or plated collars are good as apposed to collar tags. cats don't usually like all the jingling and weight that the tag adds to the collar, but you could wait until they really filled out size wise. the bells can hurt their ears, they have really sensitive hearing. for learning their own names, I just talk to my cats when I see them, and I start anything I say to them when they enter the room by saying their name first, saying it often should give them the right idea, they should catch on. and when introducing their harnesses to them when you get around to it, introducing the harness into the room on the floor with some catnip or treats should help them build a positive connection instead of a fearful one. their balance might be very wonky when you first put the harness on but thats just because they have to adjust to the weight/the way their muscles move under and around the harness. the cat tree looks wonderful!
I’m confused why cats need collars on unless they’re walking outside ?
@@liz.a314 we like to just incase they run because some cats really do like to run, but the life span of outdoor cats is significantly less than indoor cats. They can get hit by cars and eaten by big birds and things so it's good for people to be able to contact you if they find your cat
@@danispaghetti yes thank you, yeah ive heard that although I do hear they’re healthier and get sick less, It’s a hard predicament
@@liz.a314 oh I hadn't heard that, I've heard lots of ways cats can get sick indoor and outdoors but I hadn't thought to consider which would be a healthier style of living. I thought that indoor cats were healthier than outdoor because of tics and infections and a lack of veterinary check up and immunizations and such, but I could be wrong. outdoor cats get colds more often I think as well
@@danispaghetti well depends if that’s looking at feral cats vs outdoor domesticated cats, feral cats usually no longer have the proper environment due to domestication of the mother etc so they don’t do well in the wild. But if it’s an outdoor cat with a home that still takes it to the vet etc thn I hear it’s healthier. Yes there are some dangers outside but they usually are outweighed by manmade dangers (artificial light, EMFs, chemicals, non native food, etc) - it’s an interesting conundrum for sure
The kittens are SOOO CUTE! There are really nice looking "furniture" that hide liter boxes, I have a wooden one that has a hole at one end and doors you can open to take it in and out to empty/clean. I feel like that style would really match your house style! They also have ones that have fake plants on top of them.
The only problem with that is that some cats won’t use covered litter boxes because they make them feel trapped and can also smell worse than non enclosed litter boxes. I’ve also hear that enclosed litter boxes can keep dangerous fumes in, but idk if that’s true or not
no.
I have two cats, so I have a hidden fake plant litter box (which is SO cute) and then a stainless steel litter box in our laundry room since I heard you should have a litter box for each cat in the house. Works great and they both love their litter boxes and will even switch off between the two!
The title gave me a heart attack. Obsessed with these cats
Goodbye to your furniture💗 but seriously congrats on the foster fail and a lifetime of fun and snuggles!
Not necessarily. Trimming the nails and nail covers is a thing. Lol
@@YoMama9021 yeah I started swaddling and trimming my cats nails young and now he let's me do it anytime with no issues
Positive reinforcement with their names, so when you're cuddling them just say their names to them a bunch of times, or when feeding them, and they'll recognise that sound is a good thing so they'll come when you call. How I did it with my cats
The collars got stuck on my cat too! They'll keep fighting with the collars, but it's best to put them on while they're still kittens. With my new kitty, he would fight the collar but eventually got used to it. My older cat (who passed away) never wore a collar as a baby because he used to fight us and then never wanted one as an adult. I recommend just adjusting the collars as they grow :)
4:41 - classic cats, playing with the box the toy came in instead of the actual toy lol
also with the collars, if a cat does not like them, they will never like them (in my experience) but my cat who refuses to wear a collar actually loves her harness
My partner and I have 6 kitties, collars aren’t a necessity if they’re gonna be inside! They’ll always dislike having it on, at some point they might be ‘okay’ with it but prob better off without
0:22 I love this clip right here, because it almost looks like Ham is smiling when you're holding her! So so so adorable, thank you for allowing these buddies to have a place in your home, I'm sure you'll make each other very happy 💕
them getting along with chilli is so precious
Chilli is so happy to have company I love it 😭
I guess first tip as a cat owner is, 1:
- Embrace the chaos.
- Introduce your cats to every new toy
- If you don’t want them jumping on counters, being around in the kitchen food, make so it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to get to it, or they will otherwise find a way. Curiosity killed the cat is very true.
- Reject the idea of putting collars on cats, they don’t need them and are way better without them, you can chip them at the vet and it’s safer.
- If you don’t want them to get out of your property and run around outside, block every exit.
As for chic cat furniture, there’s loads of options, IKEA has a pet collection with loads of dog/cat furniture.
Plenty of small businesses on Instagram shops can sell you cute stuff and even personalized stuff.
Another important tip is to buy them a wheel. So they get tired and are less likely to cause chaos all over your house.
Be careful with treats as most aren’t healthy for cats, they are CARNIVORES.
Buy catnip, it’s harmless and so fun for them to play with, for you to watch and if you keep catnip plants around, they are good mosquito repelent lol
Good luck I want to see more of the kittens!
Ps: Your cats seem to be very loving, as they are in their kitten phase, they might grow out of it, or not and then you’ll have loving but sometimes very vocal and demanding cats lol
Personally I have never collared my cats, as long as they're chipped cats in the UK don't have to have tags. Mine are indoor/outdoor cats and I was advised not to collar should they get caught on something and could be fatal. Not saying not having is the right thing to do, just my two cents! Congratulations on your furbabies
Agreed!!
Seconding this! Never collared mine either as they were indoor only. Hope they microchip them.
What about all the animals they'll kill if they dont have a bell?
Breakaway collars are a safe option! I have one for my indoor/outdoor cat and if he ever gets stuck it will snap off. I also attach a bell to keep him from killing birds and it has worked so far. He is chipped too.
You guys are practically my internet parents now.
I am soo freaking here for this cat content! Love the mosh music when they're tweaking kittens are so funny. Congrats Kelsey and Cody! 🥳😻
i knew this video was coming 😭😭😭
I would suggest “Happy & Polly” for cute cat trees! Also make sure your cat collars are always break away collars! It’s a safety thing so that they can break it off if they ever get caught in soemthing :3
Happy & Polly is SOOOO CUTE!!!
congrats on adopting brisket and ham!!! "happy and polly" has some of the cutest cat stuff i have ever seen, highly recommend
i love the happy little family you guys created 🥺
I’m having an absolute stroke over this. So happy. I love you both
So happy for you guys! Congratulations! Pets are really such amazing companions. ❤️
All their playfulness is so freaking cute!!! They’re all enjoying each other’s times 💕
I’m so happy for you guys! You clearly will give them a loving home
I’m so happy for you two! I know you take Chili places with you a lot of the time but it’ll be nice for him to have buddies if you decide to leave him at home sometimes. Their names are super cute, I’m a huge fan of naming pets after food! Have fun!!!
MAU for cat trees they are the BEST!!!! Get cat nip to put on the scratchers-place them around the house and they will leave your furniture alone. Place the cat tree by the window so they can look outside at birdies! MAU has WAY cuter trees than that one! LOL And, give them boxes to play in! Also, look up Jackson Galaxy vids for good tips and tricks.
Kelsey! I really like Vesper cat trees! I bought one for my cat and it’s so much nicer than any other cat tree I’ve used. Also, they will replace the cozy pads and scratchy parts when they are used or too dirty.
for learning names you should just keep calling them each by their names and if they look at you or come up to you give em affection/praise/treats!
Yayy the kitties stay!!!!! I love the little footage we get of them messing around, jumping all funny,, & sleepin around😍😍😍
I discovered Cody (and Kelsey) recently (I know I’m kinda late) and last week I kinda binge watched their content, and in one video from a couple years ago Cody was totally dissing cats, saying eww, and that he didn’t understand why the internet was so crazy about cats… and today I see this in my recommendations… HA HA *how the turntables have turned* 😈 but Ham(ilton), Brisket, and Chili are SUPER cute, congrats on becoming cat parents! What a lovely furry family! ◕ω◕
next video on kody ko: "i bought a harley davidson sportster!!"
Kelsey’s victory dance to LMAO and the whole kitty content made my day 🥰
Cody on his redemption ark he learned how to love cats
Taking cats on walks is so fun!!! One of my girls loves to go outside and play in the grass and she’s so cute in her lil harness 🥺
Knew this was a foster fail from the jump. Congrats!
this makes my heart so happy! my bf was hesitant but we just adopted 2 kittens about a month ago and it’s been so cute seeing you guys doing the same thing 🥹 also one of my kittens did the same thing with his collar but he figured it out, just make sure it’s kitten size!
The SECOND I saw the collars I knew they would get hurt somehow from them. Honestly if you can get them chipped that is just the best option!
I love Kelsey’s vlogs. They are so chill. I feel like I am on FaceTime with her. 🥰🥰🥰
love you so much Kelsey!! So excited for more Ham and Brisket content
The editing is so funny! Kelsey is just hilarious, had me laughing out loud multiple times
Cats are epic. You won't regret it, and the constant meowing is them asking for food the whole time, they never stop eating when they are kittens
This makes my heart SO HAPPY!
not the kittens name being hamilton lol i’m obsessed
the cats just add so much, i love them.
also love your whole vibe in the cat tree construction bit. that cardigan and your hair and everything is so cute
i laughed so hard watching you freak out about the cat collars! i recently adopted a cat from my local shelter and it took her a while to get comfortable with collars, she would do the same thing with her jaw getting stuck on it! I found getting safe release collars and soft fabrics at first and working my way up to firmer/ thicker / higher quality collars worked best for my gal :)
i love that they are all friends!
We put a breakaway collar with a bell on our indoor cat, and she was always purposefully getting the bottom half of her mouth in the collar and breaking it off! Smart kitty, Lol so we just said no more collar because she stays inside anyway
This makes me so happy! I was hoping y’all would!
SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!
Yay!!! Best pet parents ever! Thank you for adopting and saving TWO lives!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I love how much you love Hamilton because same girl, I want to see it on Broadway! “Ham for short” makes me laugh 😂
love you guys and ham and brisket x
Congratulations on officially expanding the family
ham just kinda stare-squinting at Kelsey in the beginning was so funny and cute
So happy you guys kept them
Those cats will forever be more interested in the packaging/boxes that the toys and scratchers etc come in, than the toys themselves lol.
Lol my cat Maple is also a talker and super affectionate! Cats are amazing, so happy for y’all and chili now has friends :)
Yes! I knew it would happen! Lol love this so much
My cats love those random themed scratch box houses from target. Like they had a taco truck one and I currently have a yoga studio one
i’ve seen so many cute cat trees on pinterest, there’s definitely many out there i also love the floating wall shelves and wall bridges for cats to chill on
Congrats kelsey and cody 💗💗💗💗
Collar tip: make sure you get collars that fall off when it gets stuck behind things! This way they can’t choke on them. Also cats don’t get their name they only recognise the sound you make before they get dinner or pets. It could be any sound we used to sing a song before we gave our cats dinner and they would come running from wherever they are the attic or outside didn’t matter. So that is really fun🥰
This makes me so happy!!!! 😭🥹 the edits of the kittens in the background took me out 😂 Also cats meow to communicate with humans so they’re just talking to you guys :)
Happy and Polly for quirky cat trees (I love the pastel colors!)
omg the matching of your movement with the beat at 4:37 IS SO SATISFYING
I LOVE BRISKET AND HAM SO MUCH SO HAPPY FOR ALL OF YOU
Cody is the dad who said he didn’t want a pet but is now obsessed
Yay! So happy for you!!!
I love this!!
i love you kelsey!!!
I’m a full on cat addict, had them all my life, did the fostering thing for a local shelter. Then ended up keeping the disabled ones I fostered, so basically a failed foster cat mom! I have 4 cats now- all rescues.
Tips and tricks: get them microchipped and don’t bother with the collars. I’ve never had luck with them and I’ve had PLENTY of cats in my life. None of them liked their collars!
Name wise I just kept it consistent to begin with and made it obvious by touching them whilst saying their names - one at a time obviously. And even the ones that I adopted as adults know their names well now. But mind you, it’s definitely just the sound and tone of your voice that they’re responding to, certainly in the beginning.
I have nicknames for all my cats and they seem to know their nicknames as well as their full names now. It just takes time and repetition really.
In terms of getting the cats to use the scratch posts, you could use either dried catnip or a catnip spray and put it on the posts. That will attract them and make them want to play with it. I only had to do this once and any new posts I bought, the cats already knew what they were for and were for them. However posts etc might not stop them from scratching your furniture too. You need to be strict and consistent to get them to only scratch their posts and not everything. Use stern voice tones when disciplining them and you can blow in their face if they do something naughty. You can also physically remove them from whatever naughty situation they get into whilst using a stern voice to say ‘bad cat’ or ‘bad Ham/Brisket’. The tone of your voice tells them a lot, that’s what they understand, not the words obviously. So always keep your voice light and playful when they’re being good and only use a stern voice for discipline. They will get confused if you mix things up even in a joking way.
Oh and invest in silicone sponges/cleaning tools. They’re brilliant at removing hair from your furniture etc.Better than lint rollers or any type scrapping device. The silicone doesn’t damage fabric but will pick up all the hair and fluff off everything! No need for water or washing.
Good luck and enjoy the endless entertainment you’re going to get from your trio of little goofballs!
Just keep calling them by their names. Like constantly and they will learn their own names. Also you don’t need to put collars on cats. Just let them roam about. Also, they sometimes meow when they want affection but most of the time they do it because they want food. Anyways your cats are adorable 🥰🥰
Awww this is so cute!!
Here from Cody’s video andddd I can’t get enough of you guys love you guys
This feels like that scene from Blind Side 🤣😭
“How would you like to be a part of this family?”
“I-...I thought I already was.”
🥺
For collars, i definitely recommend making sure they are small enough to where they wont get caught in their mouths/get break away collars and also the younger/more consistent you are with keeping a collar on them the more they’ll get used to it. This goes the same with cutting/trimming their claws if u wanted to do that. Ive raised 2 kittens that are both 2 now and im able to easily cut their nails without them getting upset or mean because i started doing it when they were kittens🤗
yay im so glad you guys adopted them!!!
Noel's never coming over again lmao
Omg yes! I’m so happy for you guys!
This is the sweetest thing!! Okie It’s just like my household- We already had a dog (his name is Sam) and we fostered a litter of kittens and adopted two of them. The kittens and Sam are best friends and it’s honestly the cutest thing. So I thought it was awesome that y’all now have two cats and one dog, just like me ahahah
I knew this was gonna happen lol. I love it you guys!
A lot of repetition and reward when teaching them their names!!! Reward can be love and affection, but when they respond to their name in particular make sure you give them more than usual, so they know they’re doing a good job when they recognize it. Good luck you guys!!! My baby knows his name and his nickname!! Love y’all 🥰❤️
For the collars, you either need to make sure you get ones that can be adjusted small enough to make it tighter on the kittens, or just wait until they are bigger. You can make it tight enough that it's not hurting them but that way there won't be enough room for them to try to bite it off and get their mouths stuck, same thing happened to my kitten actually. If you make sure it has a breakaway claspe that helps if the collar gets them stuck on something.
Just some friendly tips from a fellow cat owner! Collars aren’t necessary but breakaway collars are your best bet if you want them. For the scratching posts, when you see them scratching something you don’t want them to, physically put their paws on the post so they know to use them instead. You can also put some catnip on the posts. For learning their names, just say them every time you give them affection/attention. Always support their bottom anytime you pick them up so you don’t hurt their spines (essentially hold them as you would a baby.)
this is why I tell everyone you can never "hate cats" until you've had one. they're the best!
this is gonna be a family channel in 9 months
Sweetest angels!!!! Love them
