    I'm an Evertonian and Southall for a period in the 80's was certainly the best keeper in the world.Doesn't get the recognition he deserved because he was Welsh and didn't play for one of the so called glamour clubs.

    I've been a massive fan of Neville Southall since i was about 8 when i started supporting Everton, when i was about 10 years old i started to write to players asking for their autographs. In my letters i would write a bit about myself like where i was from, who i supported and what team i played for myself etc. I got a few photo's with autographs sent back from Gary Linekar, Ian Rush, Mark Hughes and a few others. A couple of weeks went by and i got a letter through the post and it was from Neville Southall, inside was a autographed picture and a handwritten A5 letter thanking me for writing and responding to my questions and encouraging me on playing football.
    It blew mind at 10yrs and still blows my mind at 47 that someone like him would take that much time and effort to respond to a kid. In my eyes this man is an absolute LEGEND and a true footballer. Thanks Neville.

    Southall is 100% correct in his analysis of modern day keepers …. There NOT keepers anymore there centre half’s that can’t dive or catch a ball …. I’d have southalls name on any team 1st anywhere in the world …. He was one of the best… have a look at Onana after listening to this & there’s an example of someone who can’t dive /catch a ball along with unbelievable bad positioning sense ….

    Nev was a world class goalie back in the day, but he's a dinosaur when it comes to the modern game. The modern game is quicker and more athletic than when he played, they were out on the piss all the time. Sports science plays a massive part in the modern game and squad rotation is a necessity

    • @TheWorldClassStamp
      @TheWorldClassStamp  Před měsícem

      Not sure about the whole time Nev played but he has been clear about being tee total. A couple well known interviews/moments where he didn't celebrate and just 'went home' 😂

    I well remember Pat Rice taking a free kick from near the halfway line for Watford during their first ever First Division game and Neville “saving” it and stepping back with the ball over his own goal line. 😂. He’s let himself go a bit since his playing days but at least the silly moustache has gone.

    Sorry Nev,. Qatar have their values. Its not on us to force our values on others. Thats whats lead to accusations around colonialism.
    We think we have it right but we dont which is why the western world is nastier and in a massive mess.
