      So what's the slightly hidden message crouching beneath a video like this?
      "We're loooosing this fight," is what Bill is subtly saying. "They're winning; we need to fight dirty; if someone disagrees with you, they are clearly a Nazi; both you the reader and antifa need to punch those Nazis in the face."
      Voting for either party means you are either rich, or are missing the point. Voting shows faith in a system that works for the very rich.
      OTOH, Bill sometimes "gets it," re his showing signs that the "pound me too" movement is a witch hunt. and that many, perhaps most, of its true victims were the ones who were falsely accused, looooose their careers, never recover.

      I like Bill, too, literally makes me laugh out loud, but.......he talks about all the power democrats have lost over the last 8 years....but doesn't explain why. Could it be that most Americans reject the FAR LEFT who have hi-jacked the (D) party? A cake for a gay couple goes to the Supreme Court. We have to use multiple new pronouns. Not one democrat votes to cut taxes or attend the opening of an embassy in Jerusalem. Every act, good or bad, of a duly elected president is trashed 24/7. Voters are numb to it...and fed up with it.

    • @thadberry1764
      @thadberry1764 Před 6 lety +8

      None of the examples you mentioned -- wedding cake discrimination case heard at the Supreme Court, tax cuts for the richest few, embassy moving to Jerusalem -- occurred when Democrats had any power, nor are they policies that reflect our beliefs. The right has ascended to power because they attack, defame, lie and smear to keep the American people fearful and paranoid. Scared people lean conservative, clutch their Bibles and guns to feel secure. We are in an extremely scary time, folks.

    • @thadberry1764
      @thadberry1764 Před 6 lety +12

      I would say your angst is targeted in the wrong direction. The majority of illegal immigrants come to the land of opportunity to provide for their families. The right has skewered them as the enemy, but have you ever wondered who pays them? When do the "job creators" bear some responsibility for paying them under the table, illegally? If businesses and wealthier individuals don't hire illegals, they end up back home or don't bother with America. See how that works? There are no liberal government policies that require employers to hire illegal immigrants, or to give them preference in the hiring process. The only incentives for businesses to hire them is PROFIT MARGIN and cost cutting. The "job creators" sold legal immigrants and U.S. citizens down the river for decades, not the Democratic Party. They -- businesses and individuals that hire illegals -- unethically cheat and steal from the U.S. taxpayer, not the other way around. I'm not defending political institutions, just pointing out the real issue about immigration. And, for the record, I worked construction and landscaping jobs 25 years ago to make ends meet. They were terrible conditions then -- often less than $4 per hour -- so I'm not sure about "being treated like royalty" in construction unless somebody is a foreman or runs the business. The BUSINESS OWNERS in agriculture, construction, manufacturing, hotel, and retail OWN MUCH OF THE BLAME for your negative assumptions about immigration. Take a look at them. They're breaking the law each time they pay an illegal over a citizen. The U.S. government DOES NOT hire illegals -- understand? It's the private sector and private individuals who do. Oh, and I'll need an actual and factual quote from a DEM representative saying "you're just an angry loser because you didn't go to college". I've never heard one say that. It's merely your personal inference of interpretation. Corporations in America began emphasizing degrees over experience in the hiring process since the 1980s onward. It's not a partisan issue. If your point is that Democrats tend to be more educated and literate, that's true but hardly their fault. Knowledge tends to open minds and history teaches us the mistakes we should not repeat. Right now, our nation is doubling down on tax cuts, trade wars, and exploding budget deficits. It's a toxic mix that failed miserably at the end of the the last two Republican presidencies, and will again. Watch as our robust economy turns to vapor over the next couple of years. Thanks, Trump voters!

    I agree with Maher. Liberals have become armchair warriors. I live abroad and I was registered to vote in New Jersey. I knew my vote for Hillary wouldn't matter much because NJ would go democrat anyway but I still sent in my vote. I personally know several liberals who live in the US and didn't bother voting. Yet, they spend all their time bitching about Trump.
    The fact is, when voter turnout is large in almost every country in the world, liberals win. Because most people are liberal. That's why republicans prefer lower voter turnout. They want voting hours to be reduced because they know liberals aren't very focused on exercising their rights.
    If you're a liberal who was concerned about how Hillary wasn't liberal enough and decided to sit out out, think about all the evangelists who hate anybody like trump but still voted for him because republicans made stealing the supreme court seat a central issue.
    So, if you're upset with the democratic party, don't sit out the election while you watch the latest episode of game of thrones. Send letters and emails to your Congressman. Make them do what you think is right. Stop being fucking lazy. The next two election cycles are going to be crucial for America and the rest of the world. Liberals need to unite and fight it out at the voting booth, not on twitter and Facebook!

    • @Xgya2000
      @Xgya2000 Před 6 lety +5

      No, it isn't.
      It's NOT better.
      It's worse, because the things that makes those options objectively better makes people forget they're not the best options available.
      Saying they're "infinitely better" when the Democratic Party as it currently stands is right-wing and pretty far right-wing by rest-of-the-world standards is awful thinking at best.
      "But they're not as far right-wing" is NOT a good answer. I don't want to choose between Republican and Republican-lite.
      If I can't vote for the person that guarantees me they'll diminish the amount of drone strikes being done overseas, I'll vote for the person that'll get scrutinized the most while they're still bombing civilians.
      If I can't vote for the person that guarantees me they'll reliably give access to clean water to everyone in the country, I'll vote for the one that'll get media attention for not doing it.
      My priorities are simple, and quite straight, you see. Compromise brought us the current mess. Brought the Democratic Party to its current state. Brought us people like Joe Manchin that vote in favor of Trump's Republicans over 60% of the time. Kept our troops in Afghanistan (which we're STILL officially at war with, by the way - 16 years now).
      If that's the best Democrats have to offer, as much as it'll pain me to do so, I'll vote for the party that'll get scrutinized the most and the president whose lies are the easiest to spot.

More and more people are supporting the policies of bernie sanders and realizing that hillary is a corrupt piece of shit, which is why her popularity rating is LESS THAN TRUMPS RIGHT NOW. Like, she's not even president, yet more people dislike her more than Trump right now, who is President. Because she sucks. Because she doesn't excite the base or side with us on issues that matter the most. Good luck bitching about "black lives matter" and feminism when you're homeless and unemployed as a result of policies Trump enacts with 90% support from establishment dems who are $$$cashing in on your stupidity. You'll continue to support them because you'll play identity politics instead, and then when they run Kamala Harris or Corey Booker over Bernie Sanders or Tulsi Gabbard or Ro Khanna, they'll get curbstomped even worse than Hillary did and all you establishment shills will go blame the voters again, because you'll NEVER hold these corrupt pieces of shit accountable.

      It's also funny (?) that a business decides they like making money and remove actors who they feel will turn away their audience.
      And it's just batshit fucking crazy that my job gets upset when I tell our customers to fuck off.

    Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences.
    A BUSINESS can decide it is a better to remove someone to save money than risk losing customers.
    If you do not believe in this then you do not believe in free speech, you merely believe you should be allowed to insult without consequences.

    • @soularone1980
      @soularone1980 Před 6 lety +2

      SilortheBlade True enough. But here he is not lamenting a business making a business decision. He is lamenting the knee jerk reaction of the public (and the president) to call for the job anytime they hear something that offends them. These are two different things.

    • @markferguson5924
      @markferguson5924 Před 6 lety

      "A business can decide ..." Except when they decide wrongly. This typical line neglects the effort by some groups to rig the business decision with disproportionate complaining. When they get their way they say 'the market has spoken'; when they don't get their way they complain about 'institutional bias and bigotry'. That's a one-way street. If everyone is pressured to abide by an unwritten rule by this rigged outrage then an unconstitutional rule can be in effect.
      I'll smooth things over by picking a right wing example.
      The Parent's Television Council and their sister groups, amounting to a few thousand people, generate >90 percent of the complaints against some programs in a country with hundreds of millions of people. That they complain so incessantly is the first problem; that they are too often taken as representative of the public is the second problem.
      To generalize, the PTC consists of weird, damaged people who cannot handle sexuality as a result of abuse, the abuse of someone close to them, and/or their own perverted desires. Groups like this explain why American media is scrubbed of 'bad words' and sexuality and sensuality but is far more comfortable with graphic violence - these people cringe at a bare shoulder or a swear but are far more comfortable with a gunshot. Just imagine if it were reversed, and a group of PTSD sufferers was successfully shutting down violent movies and TV shows that they would never see anyway, dominating the decision as a loud minority. That's the PTC, forcing absurd and archaic rules when most adults actually do use some profanity and are annoyed by having their songs and TV shows interrupted by beeping sounds.
      I understand that it's uncomfortable to tell traumatized people that they're being intrusive and authoritarian, but the reality is that their perspective on the subject of their trauma is NOT always better than ours. Often it's warped, and they see endorsements for violence or rape or racism or homophobia everywhere, ESPECIALLY where none are to be found. Giving in to their absurd demands doesn't actually solve the trauma, so they'll just have new demands in the future; we need to stop enabling and stop reacting to the false alarms from such small, demented groups.

    As a Conservative who Loves what you do. This video is "Spot Dead On". And first line isn't a lie. I've been disacribed by my friends as: " An Ultra-Conservative with some extreme Liberals views." I will NOT explain all of my Liberal views, but Gays should NOT fear me. The the one that sit a top of ALL others, is what I said above. I love what you do. I would fight right beside you for you Right of Free Speech. Despite if I agree with you or NOT. I'm a Christian, I know you are NOT. Civically, its my DUTY as a fellow Citizen to make sure Your Rights are NOT violated. I could always change the channel if what you say, "Offends me" People have forgotten the Two main issues between the two Political Parties. One Once was for a a Limited Government and curtailed Government spending and the other was completely the opposite. Bill, I've been a fan a long long time. I remembered you saying you wanted the Republicans to Watch your money. Now, when it comes to that. I can't tell the difference between Either Party. Second thing is. One Party catered to Groups of people and the other promoted Individual Rights. This is the sole surviving difference between the two. I watch in amazement how the DNC can juggle the Gay community with the Muslim Community. If someone just educated the LGBTQ community, they should BE in our camp. Individuals, 'We don't Care what you do. Just don't ask for Special Treatment." I could careless if gays marry, NOT my business. However the one time the GOP recruited an "Group" we got the Evangelicals! I'm Christian, and I don't like "Force Morality" on anyone. I looked at it from the stance they were saying, "We're to Lazy to do our duty as Christians to try to bring into Slavation, so we will just pass laws making you do what we want anyway. We really don't care about yuh our soul." These are NOT Christians, they are NOT Cinservative. I cringe when I hear, "Christian-Conservative" I'm a Christian AND a Conservative, I separate the words with a Comma or "AND" not a Hyphen! There is difference! Anyway, love your shows, this one hit the nail on the head!
