I moved my Windows dual boot today. I didn't even get past the install process before being reminded why my daily driver is now Linux. 4 or 5 pages of tracking, ads and sponsored spamware settings that amount to Yes, fuck me over or No, fuck me over slightly less. Linux gaming is great too.

everybody hates chrome notebooks, as they hate microsoft who also dominated what you want to watch, the government is making a mint from these companies for being on their side to destroy american kids from learning, decent lessons, all new windows ten is like chrome notebook, no big fish game house, they have put a safe mode in control if you can't get rid of it,no downloads not even google chrome, , go to a older model computer, and google on google how to get rid of safe mode, my friend did it, they will help you, if you don't have a one your screwed I ,returned a new computer microsoft is the default web browser, in 2022, the killed internet explorer to have control, one, it is a high price chrome notebook, and h.p is in agreement with microsoft, I got me one, and microsoft kept doing updates without warning and killed the computer,there is no c.d players so you can only watch what they say you can, another all the comp repair people are getting paid to install windows ten, my computer that went down is set up for windows 7, go figure.

My installation of Chrome for a class that I am taking completely stopped working this morning. It won't start at all, no matter what I click "Run anyway" is ignored, Edge is refusing to let me use Chrome. I think I will go see if Firefox will work. If my laptop was a free gift from Microsoft, I would be okay with this change but I think this should be illegal. I should be able to do whatever I want with my personal computer or anything else I own.
same is happening here, I literally cannot download chrome from the ms store as it forces me to download soemthing if I want to change the edge browser, doesn't even give me the option to use chrome or anything else that I already have downloaded and installed. Should be illegal to force something upon your customers.

It wouldn't surprise me if in the next iteration of Windows, Microsoft tries to put the ability to use browsers other than Edge behind some kind of a paywall. They'll claim Chrome and Firefox aren't "secure" enough for Windows 12 (or whatever they end up calling it) and the decision to disallow these browsers is to protect their customers while online. With that said, for just $5.95 a month or $49.95 a year, MS will gladly sell you a subscription to "Windows Defender Ultimate", giving users an extra layer of "premium protection" to make Firefox and Chrome "safe" to use again.
Either that, or the ability to use non-Edge browsers becomes a feature exclusive to Pro and Enterprise versions of Windows. I really hope I'm worrying over nothing, but if the majority of mainstream desktops and laptops end up moving from Intel to ARM as a lot in the industry are predicting, I could definitely see this becoming a reality.

I uninstalled chrome so I could install an newer chrome version. But Microsoft Edge is not allowing me to open the chrome.exe file, and it forces me to use the Edge browser. I tried and tried but i am unsuccessful. My laptop dont have the Chrome app and setup file anymore, Microsoft is doing some shady things here

Apparently MS Edge isn't available for ChromeOS, I don't know if this is just the two companies squabbling or ChromeOS's terrible compatability.
there is no official "for chromeOS" version of edge, but the linux version should run fine

You need to have a Google family group in order to get CZcams family premium. This then sets up Google Family Link even though you may want to use Microsoft Family Safety. These companies are so obsessed with fighting each other that customers become casualties of their war

Go into default applications, find chrome, and change all defaults to chrome manually. I did this but Firefox and it works a charm.

Useless blathering if other browsers are blocking the installation of Google Chrome. You didn't even think to include this possibility and how to work around it and get it to install. I have my own reasons for wanting GC back, regardless of your OPINION as to which browser is better.
Since MS Edge is not allowing me to install chrome. I used the MS Edge to install Firefox instead and from Firefox I downloaded the Google Chrome and there I have it installed to my laptop

Comedy aside, Microsoft Edge is indeed better. Just think of it as Google chrome which doesn't eat much RAM and CPU plus added inbuilt features from Microsoft.I just sometime use chrome only because my school recommends me to otherwise I would never use Chrome.

No. If you attempt to download a web browser from Bing, Edge will try and stop you from doing that and instead forces users to keep using Edge.

@@abhishekbalasubramaniam8327 Me too, Both edge and chrome is good on their own ways, They have their own shine and advantages, Edge has some unique features that Chrome doesn't have while Chrome uses Google as the default search engine instead of Bing, I think it's great if we use both Chrome and Edge, I think Microsoft should stop forcing us to use Edge and atleast say we can use both Chrome and Edge!

Edge is Chrome with a skin on top. If you hate Chrome, you will probably hate Opera, Edge, Vavaldi, and Brave. Therefore, if you hate Chrome, give Firefox a try.

Windows 11 is garbage. Tried installing it on a spare i3 11th gen laptop and it was slow asf. The unnecessary "simplicity" of the menus makes it harder to get to where I want. Then had to get rid of basically every app that Microsoft has automatically downloaded from Microsoft Store. Then updates? It took 10 minutes to install a single security update. And also Edge seems to be more "bloated" in Win11 than Win10, so I'm sticking with Windows 10.
