Nice car but not a fan of the detailing, lots of swirls still, you can really see it in the light. Looks like a quick pass over with the MOP and a ceramic coat to try and gloss it over.
It wasn't made clear but this was a trade sale to me, I wasn't even expecting it to be washed and it had a quick polish in the APS bodyshop (Dimension detailing just finished it off inside mainly). Regardless of that, when people buy a new car they have to pay for a new car detail and with a retail used car I wouldn't expect a free detail either. Having said that APS's retail stock's paint is way better than the average dealer's.
Oh I thought you said it had been detailed. So it’s been valeted which explains it, thank you.
Oh, come on! Any used car will have swirls! It can be sorted any way. Pedantic!
You mean a literal mop? 😅

Volkswizard, have you heard of the MKV Golf GTX - from the limited info online they were a luxury trim version of the GTi for Japan run for 2.5 years 2005-2007. I own one in shadow blue metallic, 107,000kms and love it to bits. Bolstered heated leather seats, same gti brakes, gti suspension, same engine but the stearing wheel is a lacquered wood MFSW, different styling, other wooden trim bits 😀 pretty cool golf that i dont think europe or the UK received if not in low numbers - im going to be having the MK5 GTi/R32 steering wheel fitted at its next service. Owned it for 18 months, The lacquered wood steering wheel in hot new zealand summers can be difficult to handle and control (very tacky) 😀 other than that keeping it stock no tuning or mods here. Your avid viewer from new zealand 🇳🇿🇳🇿😋
That's a fascinating review & one that's particularly relevant to me.
I love the Golf GTD (I used to own a Mk7 hatch, before my 7.5 R Estate & still miss some things about it). I often think I should have bought a 7.5 GTD Estate instead of the R, as I have done over 30k on it in less than 3 years!
The S4 isn't a car I'd ever considered (I've always been more of a VW fan), but this seems like the perfect blend of the GTD & R estates, with the added bonus of an extremely luxurious interior!
I struggle to find any car I'd want to change the R Estate for, but the S4 is one I'd seriously consider (although I do a fair bit of short runs too, which is why I didn't get another diesel in the first place).
I'll definitely be interested to see how you get on running this in the longer term, it'll be extremely relevant!
One thing I'd disagree with though - I would never buy one without the comfort & sound pack! Keyless entry I could live without, but the premium audio is an absolute must - it would irritate me every time I sat in it if I didn't have it & I couldn't be bothered adding aftermarket sounds to it (something I used to do a long time ago).
Top content yet again, Andrew 👏👏
So why did the SQ5 go from diesel to petrol and the S4 go from petrol to diesel??????
Pretty sure around 2020/1 the SQ5 went back to being a diesel.
SQ7 did too I think - who wants to run a large petrol suv not me
SQ5 is diesel now
What about the BMW 335d xdrive ? 0-60 in 4.7 and 40+ mpg
That's a good shout but I don't think the interior is as nice and even though the Audi is only an S model it's got a stronger character than the 335d which doesn't stand out from the rest of the non-M range that much. At least if you debadge an S4 it still looks a bit special with unique grille and 4 exhausts (sort of)
If I was diesel hunting I’d go for the 335d shadow edition.
@@steveo8533for sure. Looks far better with all the body bits too
G20 BMW 340d prices are dropping down to comparable prices - it's a tough choice between the two of them for the usual cliched reasons, but from recent personal experience I suspect the BMW will be more reliable.
Thank you!
I'm sticking with my GTD.
But only beause I can't justify the kind of entertainment you provide us with.
GTD will hopefully serve well for years to come.
I’ve been saving for the last three years for a new Audi. I still have the same Polo S I bought when I was 16 and now I’m 25, so I think the upgrade is warranted. My dream is the new upcoming facelifted RS3 Carbon Edition but that would put me in a bit of a sticky situation financially so as gutted as I am I may have to give up on that. I’m gonna either go for the new S3 when it gets released or the new S-Line Black Edition A3 if there are some nicer wheel options than what the prototype had. Do you think getting the new A3 would be a bit of a cop out?
Forget the S3, buy yourself a house / flat. 😎
Go for a 2017-2018 through a main dealer, new car without the big depreciation tank that a 2023 or 2024 will give you 😀 plenty of well loved 5 year old models out there waiting for you, all the best
Nothing is ever impossible mate keep saving for that carbon edition. Anything is possible mate !!

Great, a diesel, here in belgium its almost banned...
Yep we are f*cked in multiple ways
Lovely car. An F31 335d has same performance stats as your S4 Avant...slightly lower torque but same 0-60 time and 313bhp.
I was going to mention the same car. Audi has a nicer interior in my opinion, but for the same age it has a £10k premium.
335d is a far better car to drive too.
Why did you choose it over the arteon r? Noted the audi interior is better. Arteon r not better value?
Im not against diesel but Audi should have just done this as an a4 avant the S should have been petrol, they played right into BMW’s hands by not offering a performance petrol in this category other than an RS.
Fair points - here are mine - BMW don't really have an sub M performance line like S so whatever S4 is fuel by it's a bonus model. Also if S4 is petrol then this will play into BMW's hands who have a performance diesel. At least now Audi have hot diesel and petrol models and greater justification for paying extra for RS4 instead of settling on S4 is you want an M3 rival
@@volkswizard also fair points but that would rule Audi out for me as the RS and M are too expensive for my needs so with Audi doing this in a diesel there is no competition for the M340i in saloon or estate variants which I think is a little odd.
I owned one of these new in 2020. Please please get the oil pump/vac pump checked. Mine did 9k miles and went back with a rattly engine. I hope they have sorted the gearbox calibration, as I felt that was the big issue with the B9.5
The interior looks dated now imo especially with the screen sticking out from the dashboard which is so 2012
I'd rather have a dated high quality interior than a modern gimcrack one than in the current A3/S3/RS3 - ultimately quality is always quality, modern isn't always modern. I'm not too fussed about the screen's aesthetic as it works so well.
Good luck with 40.9 combined unless you have a light foot. Love fast diesels. But I can’t get too excited sorry it’s a station wagon
I’m seeing over 40 on a regular basis (2 weeks in). It’s my post practical car so what excitement I get from it is a bonus, if I want more excitement I’ll drive something else but sometimes you just want a nice car
I miss VW Driver mag.
I do too, the days of writing an article in my pyjamas and gradually refining it again and again until it was perfect was very satisfying and generally I (eventually) got paid more than YT pays for a typical video (though with YT I have a back catalogue that yields a bit of cash which isn't the case with a mag). On plus side this video has already had 4 x more views than those mags used to get as circulation so I guess it's swings and rounabouts and part of the reason they are no more. The back issues are still on Pocket Mags though which is nice :)
Sorry guys, diesel really is the better fuel , it's about torque not high revs bhp.
This car, if looked after, should be good for 200k miles.
I knew this was going to be the S4 TDI. Absolutely gorgeous car. Personally I'd have it in red with black trim
Thanks Donald. Red is are but the CarWow drag race press car was red and looked great. I don't think there is a bad colour combination in these, even white with red leather looks sharp (if you like that sort of thing)
@@volkswizard Audi does some really great colours. As does the rest of the VW Group
I'm planning on getting one of these when my B7 A4 Avant TDI gets legislated off the road in the next few years. :)
3:55 that is a terrible detailing job! Shocking I would fire the person if they put out a car like that you can still see all the paint defects!
If they are just running a quick mop over it then it isn’t a detail.
Like no other car……
BMW 335d/340d “hold my beer…” 😊
If this is the same engine Audi use in the SQ5 check vag technics channel 😮
Shit happens, I also owned 3 x 911 996 and they were fine even on long trips to the Med
The price market has leveled, but here in the states the interest rates are in an all time sky high. The money distribution has shifted from seller to banks and government.
Thank you for the video, gave thumbs up!
"Humble daily"?!
I've been doing a lot of research on one of these lately and as much as its a cool car I'm finding it hard to justify buying. Even with now breaching 150k a year I'm struggling to justify buying one with the world economies worsening. I only drive between Germany and Ireland 3-4 times a year and after that I would be lucky to do another 2k in driving in the year so that probably has a lot to do with it also.
Poor old you…
What
Go away you absolute 🔔🔚
Sounds like you really need to count those 150,000,000 pennies closely. I would suggest a Funky Cat EV for those 2k local miles and hire a car for the euro trips, or take Ryanair...
@@BS-ge4ne I just can't justify it as with the current economy car prices should hopefully collapse in the next year. If they do it would be a much better buy than now. I wouldn't mind buying it if that risk was not there. Watching a lot of car dealer channels they are all talking about it. I've a Golf r that I'm wanting to turn into a track car and can't until I buy a replacement for these drives but I don't want to buy something that will half in value overnight if their is a collapse. I fly most of the trips I've to take but the whole point of the drive even if it is 10 times the price of flying is its fun and I wouldn't give that up. I just drove from Hamburg to Portsmouth yesterday.
Would be much better with an s-tronic
M340d is quicker and equally economical.
Is it as beautiful inside though?
@@volkswizard it's in the eye of the beholder as always;) but fully speced incl m performance carbon fiber and alcantara looks v decent. We are speaking about BMW and not Kia here
I agree 340d drives much better and built better. The Audi is nice tho.
I've had my S4 TDI over a year now and I'm still in love with it... I took my grandson to the coast and averaged 54mpg.... obviously I only get late 30's when I'm on my own .... but this car is relentless in torque and a mile cruncher... so much fun on the twistess
I plan on keeping this car up until I retire in 10 years.. then it will be the porsche 911....
@@volkswizardyes much better in every way
Refinement, power
Not surprised you pushed the button on this, what a great car. I wasn’t aware of the launch spec cars, so something I’ll look into when the time is right. Looking forward to seeing the video of you driving it through Europe. Keep up with the great content.
Thanks Peter! I am itching to get it over the channel a) because after years of driving awkward thirsty sports cars in Europe an S4 TDI Avant will be a breeze but mainly b) I really want to report on Golf 8.5 early on but UK media pecking order means channels like mine (even with all that Mk8 back catalogue) don't get a fair crack of the whip.
@@volkswizard It must be really frustrating with the Golf 8.5. I’m sure you’ve got contacts at the press office, guess you have to combined with continuing to putting out excellent content and growing your subscriber base, keep plugging away at those relationships at VW as hard and unfair as it seems at times.
Congrats Andrew! Lovely looking car
My Golf Mk5 GTI had some work done off APS with its former owner some lovely H&R Anti roll bars and a Superchips stage one tune, looks a decent place Andrew…
Congrats Andrew!
I was thinking s4 or s6 both being diesels
S6 is great but just too big for me
Awesome car I'd have diesel S5 but 570 road tax is a bit steep.
Does the mild hybrid system hinder DIY working?
Thought you maybe buying this car. Performance with economy what's not to like. Pity it's not a Black Edition not a lover of all that chrome and anodised aluminium trim. But it's your car your choice.
Buy the way . What happened to your RS6? Or have i missed an episode
Thanks Wyn! Originally I wanted a Black Edition but I'd forgotten about these high spec early cars so a compromise was made on the bling bits. It's funny because the silver bits on the grille are unique to S4 but the generic black pack looks sportier, go figure - I suspect the far east markets don't get understatement. The days of an S4 being easy to spot like B5/6/7 even 8 are long gone which is good and bad, hence why the 4 exhausts are so important, fake or not.
Great car Andrew Audi always make a great interior 👍hope you have many miles of enjoyable driving 👊
I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm for your new daily drive, its a beautiful car no denying that, but for me I couldn't have one. This car is very complex & enevitably it will go wrong.....& that scares me because the cost to fix it will be mega expensive.
However enjoy.
How on earth is a diesel audi estate a dream everyday car
Because we are all different and different things push different peoples buttons.
Good video , I’ve just bought the s6 saloon tdi based off your review. So far I’m impressed. I did think about the s4 but not many if any had adaptive suspension. Only down side for me and I’m sure you will come across it is the gearbox , you have to be ready or it falls asleep when your half way through pulling out. Look forward to your updates
Hi Jamie, S6 TDI saloon is very nice and looking decent VFM right now. You are correct about the gearbox, I've reserved judgement as I've largely been in efficiency mode trying to get a feel for ultimate economy and this (I am hoping) will contribute to the gearbox's dull responses at slower speeds. I don't know what software updates the car has had during its life but there is nothing outstanding so I'll report on that when I've had a chance to try the sportier modes. Generally cars of this era can be very sluggish in their normal mode due to emissions regs and switching to a sportier mode is actually making the car 'normal' if that make sense.
You are correct about the rarity of adaptive dampers hence the appeal of the launch spec cars, I gather the spec isn't even reported correctly on online spec checkers so very likely when these early cars go on sale they aren't marketed correctly. Also Sport Diff doesn't appear in Drive Select on S4 as it's bundled with 'drive system' (RS4 is different) so aside from checking on ERWIN it's a case of looking underneath for the electric pump on the rear diff which is easy enough. I can't find any service requirement for sport diff on this model so it's never mentioned in the history either but I need to see if that's actually correct, preventative oil changes would be wise regardless. Enjoy your S6, great car!
Hi Andrew, I had one of these on lease back in 2020 (Black with Red interior) and I never gelled with it, thanks mainly to the gearbox mapping that you have mentioned. I was warned....Joe Achilles called it out in his review of the car which was from the same press launch you attended. I do wonder if it's to protect the gearbox from imploding due to the huge amount of torque it has to handle. I sent mine back halfway through the lease so it will be interesting to see how you get on with the gearbox map.
Can't believe it has twice the torque figure as a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 130. And that pulled more than the figures suggested.
Believe it, it feels it on the road too! In the first drive video in 2019 I said it wanted to wheelie and I nearly said that again in this video!
Fantastic car Andrew - as good as it gets for a daily. I’m intrigued why you are selling the Golf TDI estate as you seemed quite taken with it or is it a case of this one just came up as an upscale replacement? I’m actually thinking of buying a Golf TDI but the coolant loss issues (including associated weak water pump) and the overall DPF complexity are making me think twice. Cheers Jim
I stayed in a hotel in January, GTD was parked out the back, between me and it was a nice late A4 Estate in black and it got me thinking wouldn't it be nice to have a nice Audi Estate again, started looking on AT, actually asked Ed at APS to look out for one not expecting one to ever cross his path. Within 48 hours he'd been offered this in px and the rest is history. My GTD suffered coolant loss but genuine cap fixed it, water pump was probably done at cambelt change (and was not showing any signs of leaks). I wouldn't worry about DPF, these late ones are seamless. Also GTD somehow has dodged the AdBlue bullet which reduces complexity as EU6 compliant diesels go (Mk3 Leon FR Sport TDI 150 has AdBlue which doesn't make much sense).
Thanks for the comprehensive reply Andrew. I currently have a Mark 5 GTi as a daily which is brilliant but I am thinking of moving that over to occasional use status along with a 987.2 Boxster in the garage. A GTD estate would be perfect for daily duties so thanks indeed for the clarification of not having to worry too much if the servicing has been done.
Such a good looking car, and a perfect daily driver. Congrats Andrew. 👍
As a B9.5 RS4 owner I would love the economy of the S4 but those exhaust are sacrilege.
I can get a proper exhaust made with the savings on fuel over RS4 at some point around 2031 :)
@@volkswizard lovely car nonetheless, enjoy
Nice daily👌
If you do the miles, then it's perfect. Also, i didn’t know that Audi is using the ZF 8speeds.
Is it only in this S4? Or is there other engines with ZF automatic? I wouldn't touch DSG but ZF i would buy. Thanks
They started using ZF 8 speed around 2018, new A6, A8 but first performance use was the RS4 in 2017 I think, Mr. JWW made a big fuss about how it wasn't quick shifting enough. Here it's necessary as 700nm would shatter a DSG/S Tronic
Hi Andrew, love your channel and love the new daily driver, are all these diesel S4s mild hybrid?
Also how many miles on it and how many previous owners?
I have a A6 avant tdi 2018 2.0 I’d be be interested in these S4s as I looked at a Bt tdi before buying my car. I didn’t know you could get a diesel S4 before seeing this video today.also What does the hybrid part do by the way? You didn’t go into that much.
Great video can’t wait for the next one 👍
Hi Charles, thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it! Yes all these S4 TDIs are mild hybrid. This one has done 43k, it was a dealer demo plus 2 owners, last owner had it since September but his wife missed her SQ7 so they chopped it in for another.
Is your A6 a late model C7? A good solid car. I've been in a bi-tdi A6 all road and it was incredible. I guess the S4 TDI is trying to perform like that but be cleaner.
I think I mentioned the mild hybrid (MHEV) system more in the Taycan/S4 video. It's clever as it harvests energy to a separate 48V battery and then deploys this to run the electric supercharger that gives the car torque before turbo kicks in but can also be used to reduce emissions and fuel consumption by extending the start stop system to actually switch engine off completely for up to 40 seconds under periods of low load. The cleverest bit is that a special alternator can be used to restart the engine once the engine has warmed up which is smoother and more efficient than the electric starter motor. Clever stuff until it goes wrong!
Hi Andrew, thanks for the reply and information, my car is a May 2018 model I love it just disappointed it didn’t come with apple CarPlay, as it has everything else apart from keyless entry which I wouldn’t want anyway.
The wife would like something easier to park, S3 or Golf gti performance perhaps?
I love all the Golf stuff you do that’s why I first watched your channel. I’d be interested in the aforementioned cars if you know of any but would have to be one owner.
Enjoy the S4 and I’m looking forward to seeing you do a long trip video with it👍
Beast , great choice👌
Does the 69 plate differ to the 70 plate in spec then or is it the 72 plates where comfort specs kick in? Thanks
Generally there is a base spec that looks like this one, Black Edition with rotor wheels and no chrome and Vorsprung. These high spec base models were AFAIK were only 2019/69 reg as they were shipped to dealers (and the press office) as a fixed high spec that couldn't be ordered in the UK. If you factory ordered a base spec car as soon as the order books opened around the time of the press launch (August 2019), even a late 2019/early 2020 registered one wouldn't have a lot of the features of these launch cars either as standard or as available to order. The red callipers and the chrome bits are a big clue. I've seen these non-UK spec cars before at press launches (they make reporting what you get as standard a nightmare), never thought I'd own one!
@@volkswizard thank you
Congratulations it’s a lovely car. Gotta love an Audi S anything 😍

Not really a big Audi fan but always appreciate a good video of someone showing the new pride and joy. New car day is always exciting.
To be honest if you hate the car and like the video that's fine with me as I didn't sell the car :) I'm lucky that new car days are not that infrequent for me but this was more lucky than usual as the car basically feel at feet (long story I will explain in another video).
Lovely car and a joy to be inside. I got a 2018 year 252 petrol black edition A4 18 months ago and its been excellent. Sometimes the wait is better than the reality but not with that car, enjoy!
HJ plate same as mine - originally from Poole Audi/Southampton Audi?
Portsmouth I think, went up north pretty early after demo period
Hi Andrew
Congrats on the vehicle!
Excellent choice for a daily, its shocking to see how material quality has dropped for both Audi and VW in the last few yrs.
The interior on your S4 looks better than on the brand new ones today
Hope you get to review the Golf 8.5 i will be holding thumbs
Enjoy your new daily
Cheers
Congratulations, great car. Enjoy it!
That is a nice car!. Love the design of these Audis.
Thanks Andrew, yes it's a good era of Audi design, not too flashy
Nice car! when you got the GTD I thought what about the S4 it’s a much better package.
Thanks John! I thought I'd just buy a nice low mileage high spec GTD Estate one day and that's all the car I could ever want but something reminded me about the S4 TDI (I gave up looking when they wouldn't depreciate after COVID) and here we are today. The GTD is great but it's not that quick and not such a safe overtaking car but the chassis is very good for that type of car and even better on Bilsteins.
Is this the same one from your recent videos?
Yep same car, it coincided with the Taycan and when I realised they were surprisingly similar I made the comparison video when I came to view it to buy
Great choice Andrew - the best all rounder
Thanks so much David!
I have such an itch to scratch by buying a diesel, for over a year now. Haha think you just scratched it for me, can't go wrong with an estate diesel!
Do it while you can! Just make sure it's Euro 6 compliant if you can stretch to one (all Mk7 GTDs are even those before 2015 when it became a legal requirement).
Congrats. I think this is actually the best all round car you can buy at the moment. Easy miles.
Very nice Andrew ! Could you make a video of the S4’s full specs and optional extra’s if possible as well?
Thanks a lot! Yes indeed when I am confident I know what the car's full spec is I will make that video. One issue is that it's impossible so far to locate the PDF brochure for the 2020 model year which will list what is standard and not for these base model cars but I am pretty confident bearing in mind the Black Edition is missing a lot of this car's spec, that most of it is either extra cost or not available unless you buy a Vorsprung. Watch this space :)
Beautiful car. I has an SQ5 + with 700nm , absolutely incredible in the mid range, beat anything I ever came across. Half regret selling that.
Where are you selling your stock now -? not Volkswizard
I’ve been half tempted by original diesel SQ5 but never liked the B8 based interior and new one doesn’t do it for me. I’m selling directly to the trade now, not sure if I’ll ever get back into retail
very nice,, enjoy
Thank you Paul 😊
Great car but not a fan of black on black. I so wish we had Diesel VW/Audi engines in the US or even an A4 S4 / RS4 wagon.
Yeah, not for me. But can 100% see why it’s a great daily driver if you are up and down the country etc. The interior definitely looks more modern than 2019 and as you say, probably peak Audi. Enjoy the new wheels👌

It's a nice car. I'd much rather have this than the other Audi in your fleet.
Haha … Now the purist petrolheads are now buying diesels with battery’s !? Hypocrisy at its finest 😂
Who said I was a purist petrolhead? In 2018 I daily drove a Bora TDI and this car replaces a GTD. As for the battery, all cars have got batteries and mild hybrid and its tiny extra battery is largely irrelevant as it doesn't propel the car so it's not an EV as such. So please clarify where the hypocrisy is (and/or go troll elsewhere)
@@volkswizard Me trolling ? You’re the one that trolls in every video you make these days , spouting misinformation and ignorance about EVs and your latest purchase is a Diesel Hybrid ! you’re half way there … there’s the hypocrisy and trolling from you !
Stick to GTi’s it’s about the only thing you know anything about.
It’s getting quite tedious this EV hatred thing , not only from you but other clueless creators.
Just let others buy to suit there needs and let them get on with it , you sound like you’re on some sort of crusade these days , I did enjoy the Gti stuff as I owned a MK 1 and plenty of other fast hatch’s so I can see both sides of the argument.
I also have this car but in red, black edition. I absolutely love it. Very fast and often see high 40s mpg on the motorway. Perfect blend of performance and economy. Great choice Andrew! 👌
5:13 false, the M340d is better car in every way except the virtual cockpit on the Audi which I admire
He said in his opinion why do people argue opinions to back their argument with their own opinion not factual info 🤷
@@natsiel sorry to disappoint but it’s the objective reality of these 2 cars. I’m not biased by any sense. The g20 chassis on the bmw is newer much stiffer torsional rigidity. Engine wise the B57 is known to be more reliable than the 3l TDI unit and noticeably less lag than the S4. The engine and transmission pairing of the BMWs B57 and the ZF 8 speed is just unparalleled, a match made in heaven. The 3 series is also better in terms of Fuel consumption . The best approach with these 2 cars is to test drive both, then you’ll get the reality of the situation.
Well done Andrew, suits your needs very well. I need to follow your lead, hurry up buy the car I promised myself also.
Thanks! Yep it was the Taycan video that made me realise 2030 or 2035 isn't when we need to worry, it is now as electric cars are popular with fleets and they are a large chunk of new so supply of good ICE has already dwindled away rather scarily
Excellent love the A4 Avant and S4 diesel excellent choice - looking forward to you 8.5 review 🎯👏
This video and the 718 Cayman GT4 collection are my favourite videos. Keep up the good work.
Will do thanks. On the one hand it’s great that collection videos are popular but they seem to be the only ones which doesn’t look good in the longer term for the channel. On the plus side I’m buying cars I actually like so not just for YT👍
Lovely car Andrew, brilliant choice drove loads of these working at Audi I prefer these to the petrol ones as they pull like a train and brilliant all rounder !
Clearly Ash you have experienced that engine and been blown away by it - lots of people will trash it with zero experience, as ever driving is believing :)
Most definitely, it’s at work of art specially with that electric pump to spin up the turbos. There’s virtually no lag at all and decent power band through the rev range. I was actually quite surprised with the fuel economy aswell as for a big engine diesel was really good
M340d Andrew wins top trumps.
Lovely vehicle, Andrew. Safe motoring.
But.... It appeared you drove to collect in Kate's TT (assume she was the camera person at collection). When does that vehicle get replaced as you've alluded to before. I like to be different with questions. 😁👍
If you say B&O, you're probably watching the wrong channel. 😂🤣
Thanks! Yes indeed, Kate comes with me to collect cars and for insurance and simplicity reasons she always drives her car back (I drive it there as I'm not a great passenger and means she does fewer miles which she prefers).
In December we bought a Mk3 TT 2.0 TFSI Sport quattro S tronic, lovely spec and low mileage, one elderly lady owner to replace her Mk2. All was looking good but after some short drives Kate was getting pains in her legs however the seat was adjusted and it turns out that the front of the lower seat cushion was a lot higher than in her Mk2. This it would appear is due to the easy access mechanism added to Mk3 TT seat base to improve access to rear seats (pretty pointless). So had to move that on and concluded we needed a car without easy access and with the adjustable thigh support and ideally a car where the seat base can be lowered front and back, TT really just lowers your bum and knees stay high. So watch this space, right now I'd just buy her another Mk2, maybe an RS if a nice one comes along (unlikely)
@@volkswizard oh dear. 😬
Trust you didn't do tooooo much money on the flip. Thank you kindly for the reply, we'll await the next chapter in Mrs C's next car exercise. 👍🤞
Congrats. Not a fan of black cars personally but it's still beautiful. :)
Likewise re black cars but if everything else stacks up then I accept the need to polish on a regular basis (or just not wash all that often!). Glad you like it and thanks!
Congrats man, great choice of car.
Thanks so much, glad you like it :)
You really got the diesel haters and BMW fanboys triggered this time Andrew! 🤣 What a fantastic all-rounder, enjoy the new daily and keep the great content coming! 👏🏼
You can’t please all the people all the time unless you are as bland and inoffensive as vanilla ice cream (plenty of channels like that…). I don’t mind a bit of banter but being factually correct would be nice if you people want to make a point 🤷🏼♂️
You have good tasre of cars❤
Thank you Andrew, very kind of you to say :)
Congratulations on your new car Andrew. What a machine, a fast Audi estate is about as good as it gets in my view!
Thanks David. Glad you like the fast Audi estate thing, while BMWs can match them on paper they just don't have the same desirability when it comes to fast estates, M3 Touring is the exception and a car I'd like to try one day but ultimately like RS4 is a bit too much (everything!) for a daily for humble old me :)
beautiful car, i should of realised you bought it, i will keep those guys in mind as i really want one now, oh and Andrew please enjoy & if possible do future ownership reviews please.
That's a STUNNING CAR! For me, that would be a long-term keeper.
I generally buy cars with no exit strategy. I liked the GTD so much I wanted just a newer higher spec one but this led to the S4 TDI. Where do you go from there? S6 too big, petrol too thirsty, EV too flawed and heavy and depreciating...?
Thanks for uploading this video, I was looking for a new car since I sold my 2016 Golf GTD, was considering a Leon FR estate or Karoq, but since you uploaded this I tested an A4 Avant, a car I didn't consider as I didn't like the previous Generation A4 interior, just gave my new (to me) Avant her first wash, thank you Car Wizard!
Nice upgrade over the GTD, shocked it's gone so soon.
You and me both! It dawned on me that while the GTD Estate is a very worthy car, I'm driving around mostly in something significantly inferior to my other cars which largely just sit around. There is a beauty in driving a car that you aren't precious over but thoughts turned to what could combine what I like about the GTD with some of the more heart (rather than head) appeal of the other cars on the fleet and S4 TDI Avant was an obvious candidate especially as I have on record sung its praises in the past and Mrs. Volkswizard approves which is never a bad thing. I asked Ed at APS to keep a look out not expecting anything to happen very quickly but within 48 hours he'd been offered one in px and 48 hours later I was there viewing and filming the comparison with the Taycan. I'm tempted to hold onto the GTD but I'm told 5 cars is enough :)
Great car, good luck !
Unfortunately these models are not that popular in the US. But, if they were, I’d trade my MK7.5 for one. Thanks, RickGTI….. 🇺🇸🌴
Fab car. Looks far better in the Avant guise than saloon.
My next purchase!
No, just no.
Looks like a right bit of kit that Andrew. Congratulations!
Amazing looking interior!
I’m glad you agree Tim👍
Lovely car 👍
Great video. Not a fan of the look of Audi’s but love your enthusiasm and knowledge. Enjoy the new daily!
BMW M340d is another great high powered diesel with 700nm of torque, nice daily Andrew!
Wish you well to use it Andrew
Warmest regards
Thanks David, good to hear from you :)
So since this car does not have keyless entry why is there rhe indentations on the door handles?
If you pause the video @ 7:47 you can see on the door handles have indentation.
I was watching on my tv screen and it is much easier to see rhan onthe phone screen.
That's a good point. Maybe the door handles are all the same on the facelift A4? It definitely doesn't have it (rather than it not working) because it only has the 1 button to close to the boot on the tailgate trim rather than a second one to close boot and lock car which you get with keyless entry.
@@volkswizard Thank you for your response, I have always thought that when Audi cars had this meant they have keyless entry, now I know it not to be the case.
Enjoy your new toy, whilst I enjoy watching the channel.
Your best car in my opinion! Great Find!
Thanks Daniel, it does certainly tick a lot of boxes!
