I was desperate and in a very bad state when I first heard about the Jesus prayer, near 2 years ago. I had just begun to pray regularly and was wracked by remorse, in anguish over my sins and failures. One day I was awake in the early morning, maybe 3 to 4 AM, and again suffering emotionally from the consequences of my sins; so I prayed the Jesus prayer fervently, intensely, for what must have been 5 minutes straight. When I opened my eyes Jesus's face appeared right in front of me, filling my whole vision. He look at me for a moment with a measuring gaze. Then He smiled kindly. I believe He wanted to encourage me. His appearance gave me the strength and faith to keep going. The Jesus prayer saved my life, and it may have saved my soul Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. 🙏

It is very hard to fall asleep when you begin to stress about thoughts of the day. Also, I find, at least for me, that this is a time when my mind wishes to recount the things of the day, and perhaps even fantasize about how I wish things would and could have gone. I could never "pray without ceasing" until I discovered the Jesus Prayer. Now, I pray the Jesus Prayer when I am walking or driving or even just sitting in my kitchen at home. I watched another of your videos in which you said to pray the Jesus Prayer on my fingers. I do this regularly now and I have discovered that this prayer helps me to shut out everything that is on my mind and focus completely on Jesus in a way that nothing else does. I usually repeat the Jesus Prayer 10 times, one for each finger, and conclude with "Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end". Instead of praying quickly and being distracted all the time, praying the Jeaus Prayer brings me very close to God and I can pray for any length of time. It's like my own mind ambushes me. I'm going to look up the Jesus prayer and start saying it and see if God responds to me in a way I can discern is empowering and I message of direction to me. It's been so long since I've felt his direct guidance in my life. In these times I've committed willfully and negligently so much sin that it's hard for me not to feel that there is anyway back but, I know in my heart Jesus will stand by me in my journey back into God's grace. If I can just reject everything I know is sin! It's terrifying, the thought of causing so much rejection by those who say they care about me when I take such a radical life shift. I know on a human level I will have to walk alone once more to walk on a spiritual level again with God. Pray for me and for my conviction in the holy spirit.
How are you now? I hope you're well, wherever you are. I prayythe Holy Spirit's Will be done to you. Take care of yourself, and others, as much as you can. Stay strong out there. God Bless you.
Please pray for me. The demons are all around me and there is nothing I can do. Please ask for god to come with his army to save me. I am under extreme attack at all times now.
Been practicing this prayer for a few months. I pray that I may experience that stillness of Christ you speak of. I long for His peace while on this earth.
This is the perfect prayer for these angst ridden times- thank you Fr. Spyridon for your encouragement and teaching. I’m a contemplative nun and this prayer I pray throughout the day, sometimes in moments of waiting, often for much longer. It is a balm of love and a blessing of our Lord’s mercy that I believe spreads like oil across our troubled waters and hearts. May the Lord’s peace be with you.
It's truly the best prayer ,but I notice when I get angry and try to calm myself with that prayer ,it's very difficult and words of the prayer are not coming out of my mouth ,I have to force myself to speak the prayer ,it's horrible what anger does to my soul ,but I want to say the Jesus prayer a lot,I feel I separate myself from God daily and than desperately try to get back to Him at night ,it's crazy
I hate my wordly job which keeps me separated from God 12 hours a day. It's hard to think of God when there are people complaining and yelling at you at every 4 minutes.
I have found the this prayer and remembrance of it during the day, especially in trying times helps (as well as the Jesus Prayer of course). Grant unto me, O Lord, that with spiritual tranquility I may face all that this new day is to bring. Grant unto me to dedicate myself completely to Thy Holy Will. For every hour of this day, instruct and support me in all things. Whatsoever tidings I may receive during the day, do Thou teach me to accept tranquilly, in the firm conviction that all eventualities fulfill Thy Holy Will. Govern Thou my thoughts and feelings in all I do and say. When things unforeseen occur , let me not forget that all cometh down from Thee. Teach me to behave sincerely and rationally toward every member of my family, that I may bring confusion and sorrow to none. Bestow upon me, my Lord, strength to endure the fatigue of the day, and to bear my part in all its passing events. Guide Thou my will and teach me to pray, to believe, to hope, to suffer, to forgive, and to love.
The orthodox Christian spirit retains something of the essence of truth far more attuned to the spiritual reality of the word. How modernism, intellectualism and the power of Vatican wealth has destroyed the relationship, as it is written so it will be, Amen.
Thank you. I am praying with you and I want to let you know that the Orthodox Church in the place were I live is filled with people (in Germany) I am protestant and I am praying with you. Stand Strong Christians 🙏 Stand Together... get yourself an Orthodox Study Bible, get yourself an understanding what Martin Luther did. And Start to understand our Church Fathers... I just started... but when I came back to our Lord I had Hiob, Church Fathers, language, mathematics and history in my mind.
Thank you for this message Father. It has been my experience that a man who is not willing to begin his day with humble prayer before ever interacting with the world is at great risk of experiencing and or causing wreckage of the present.
Please pray for me! The last months I have been suffering from bad thoughts (unwanted), but thanks God since 1 month or so I feel much better, also since I started to use the Jesus prayer I feel much more peaceful. But in these days the enemy attacks me when I use it with unwanted thoughts again, I know this is not from God but you know it makes me feel bad. Please pray for me to feel better, I know that God's plan for us is the best.
Yes, I agree 100%. St. Paul is in no way exaggerating. St. Gregory is in no way exaggerating. ALL THE TIME seems impossible, but it is the truth, it is arduous, but it requires no physical energy. Once, I wrote a computer script to beep every 5 minutes, so I would not miss any moments of prayer for an entire day. I was already at a point where not missing a moment for an entire hour was easy. The 1st 2 days, trying for 15 hours not to miss a single moment, I failed for a few moments. But on the 3rd day, I did indeed succeed at 15 hours of continuous uninterrupted prayer, without even one moment escaping my attention. And then I sat to meditate in silence. And something happened. Not the ultimate, I would not say that, but a giant step in that direction. I'd say that even one whole day, in complete dedication to remaining present in dedication to God, without lapsing for a single second, has the potential to open anyone's eyes to things unseen by the world. I don't think modern Christians fully appreciate how diligent those in the past were in their discipline+practices, how much they felt the sufferings of this world, how arduously they strived in seeking deliverance from it. They were not living in the days where they sat in an air-conditioned office, purchased a Big Mac, fries, and a soda driving home from work, and then relaxing in a sofa in front of a TV 😁 no. Really, it won't work like that. I'd guess that even the effort I describe here is trivial compared to the ancients.
Peace be still and know that I am God, sent not of this World, He Jesus is my God , my reward, my salvation , His Glory, forever! Love for and given with the spirit of what yes the Alford Jesus given us the spirit we call The Holy Spirit. One finds rest and peace that passes all understandings. Thank you God bless you!

Please pray for me. The demons are all around me and there is nothing I can do. Please ask for god to come with his army to save me. I am under extreme attack at all times now.
Have you said the jesus prayer yet
Thank you for this message, Fr. Spyridon.
Thank you Father
Thank you much for helping me. Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me a sinner. Amen. May God bless all of us on this blessed Christmas evening.
I need prayers everything is going wrong. Jesus is Lord!
Been practicing this prayer for a few months. I pray that I may experience that stillness of Christ you speak of. I long for His peace while on this earth.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.
God Bless you Father Spyridon!
The more I listen to this, the more I understand it and am comforted.

We are Blessed too Be Orthodox Amin ✝️✝️✝️
This is the perfect prayer for these angst ridden times- thank you Fr. Spyridon for your encouragement and teaching.
I’m a contemplative nun and this prayer I pray throughout the day, sometimes in moments of waiting, often for much longer. It is a balm of love and a blessing of our Lord’s mercy that I believe spreads like oil across our troubled waters and hearts.
May the Lord’s peace be with you.
It is an encouragement to all of us living in the world to now there are monastics praying. God bless you.
Yes, a vital reminder. Thank you.
I am a beginner and i never get bored when I say the Jesus prayer... I feel if I can manage to say 1000 time a day will be normal....
Thanks for sharing!🙏
It's truly the best prayer ,but I notice when I get angry and try to calm myself with that prayer ,it's very difficult and words of the prayer are not coming out of my mouth ,I have to force myself to speak the prayer ,it's horrible what anger does to my soul ,but I want to say the Jesus prayer a lot,I feel I separate myself from God daily and than desperately try to get back to Him at night ,it's crazy
I hate my wordly job which keeps me separated from God 12 hours a day. It's hard to think of God when there are people complaining and yelling at you at every 4 minutes.

@@unassailable6138 I agree ,the worst is that even in my house I get distracted by family issues
I know exactly how you feel. :( but you are TRYING and that effort will not go unnoticed! 😊🕊
Please pray for me father thank you God blessing you 💒
Amen❤
I first heard of the Jesus Prayer in the book " The Way of The Pilgrim" and have been praying it ever since
The orthodox Christian spirit retains something of the essence of truth far more attuned to the spiritual reality of the word. How modernism, intellectualism and the power of Vatican wealth has destroyed the relationship, as it is written so it will be, Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, son of God, have mercy on me a sinner. 🙏
Thank you. God bless
I have a mantra, " Dear Lord Jesus, help me now, and keep me safe from sin" I say it over and over.
early wishes from a catholic: Merry Christmas Father.
I’ve been watching this for 7 days every night
Amen 🙏 Lord Jesus Christ son of God have mercy on me a sinner
Thankyou!
Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me!
This helped me a lot thank you Father
Thank you, Father Spyridon. Glory to God.
I appreciate your videos Father. God Bless
Thank you for a year of interesting sermons and I wish you a happy Christmas and New year
Thank you for this message with everything going on in America knowing what to do next has been difficult
Amen ☦️ Blessed be the Lord.
Thank you for this message Father. It has been my experience that a man who is not willing to begin his day with humble prayer before ever interacting with the world is at great risk of experiencing and or causing wreckage of the present.
@@Praise___YaH Thank you. Merry Christmas
May our Holy God continue to bless and keep you....I am always beset with distraction but this advice I think will help me stay focused.
The Jesus prayer is powerful!
