Amazon Prime Lego Investment Haul - I got some great bargains

My Lego investment haul from mid July 2023 - with items that I had purchased from Amazon Prime on their Prime Deals days, which were on 11th and 12th July 2023.
I haven't seen the Up movie but everyone seems keen on that set. I bet you build it. Good haul Iain
You must try and watch it sometime - it's a great film. Very funny. I still have a few other sets to build at the moment, so if I store it away in my attic for now, I'll probably forget about it!

I was a bit disappointed with the amazon prime offers so I didn't end up buying anything. I was expecting something different on day 2 but I found it was pretty much the same. I'll wait for other offers on the sets I want.
I'm sure there will be some more good offers on the horizon

Well played Iain saving up your free Prime trial for an event like this! I do have prime because I make just enough yearly volume to get my money out of it and save some on shipping costs.
The Mandolarion helmet was on Prime deal for a 39% discount, so I had to pick up a bunch of those. That price is just too good even though it's not retiring. Got some more Red 5 Helmets as well and a bunch of thise mclaren speedchampions (the duo pack which is retiring), 'only' at a 25% discount, but it's difficult to find that one at a better discount.
Thanks - I nearly went for the Mandalorian helmets ad well but wanted to try and stick to sets retiring this year, although I ended up messing up and getting the Disney Trains - I could've sworn they were on the retirement list for this year! Another senior moment strikes again!
@@iainsbricks Haha yeah it's curious how mistakes like that can creep in, even for experienced Lego investors like yourself who have been doing this for years.. Happened to me a few times as well.

Oh man! You get the best sales in the UK! In the US, we never get Disney sets on sale (princess Friends, yes, but nothing else). And only the Justifier went on sale for a very short time for Star Wars.
Hopefully there are other things on sale that are worth getting

Good haul as always Iain. I did not get anything during the prime days, could not be bothered by creating an account for prime because the deals in the Netherlands were not that great. I did notice that Amazon in France had some great deals but that is just to much trouble and costs a lot in shipping.
Thanks Peter. Shame the discounts in NL weren't great. Hopefully you will be able to use your free Prime trial another time. I did see that Amazon France were doing some really good deals, although I didn't get anything from them.

It's Monday July 17 and I am still waiting for last Friends Lego set. I ordered 5 different sets of Lego, came in 3 different parcels, including a prime poly bag. The lego boxes have nix and other box damage. I guess that is why the stuff was on sale.
This a shame that some gave arrived damaged. Did you return any?
@@iainsbricks No I don't like returning stuff. I will keep some to build and give away as gifts to my nephew during Xmas. Good news was Friends set arrived late last night in a box that had an air pillow, so at least I can sell that one.
I never thought I would pick up the BD-1 set but I found it at a Walmart store for half price along with many other sets.
That's excellent. It's a nice looking set but not sure how popular the character is.

Hi, I also picked up 1 of the baby Yoda and 1 mandalorian helmet which i believe was £36 at time of purchase. I just had to put my car through mot service and insurance, so didn't go crazy :P

You got the offers before they sold out. I hesitates and missed out. I had a tight budget and I ended up with just a tall neck

i picked up the disney uphouse and the lego city garbage / recycle truck. we did not go crazy because we are going to a lego convention in Toronto Canada next weekend.

I didn’t buy anything from Amazon for Prime day but I did buy the PAC-Man set from the Lego website for personal use. It was my birthday two weeks ago and got some cash and a Lego voucher that I decided to put towards it. I waited until now so I got the Blacktron Cruiser, the Bionicle set and the VIP add on pack so I can sell them to effectively pay less for the set. Also thanks to one of your previous videos I knew there was a code available for a free sandwich shop set as well.
What I will say with regards to the 30 days Prime trial is make sure you cancel the Prime before the end of the 30 days so they don’t charge you for another month.

Hi Barry - happy birthday for 3 weeks ago. I do like the look of that Pacman set. I may end up getting it one day to build. Good to hear you get the extra free gift as well. I will be cancelling my Amazon Prime at the end of this month.

I like the star wars BD1 FIGURE, in Canada amazon had it sale but you did not get it in a amazon box. They were just going to slap a label on it and shipped. So i passed it up. I hope it goes on sale soon.

I’m like you not really interested in Amazon Prime and still have my 30 day free pass to use. However, my eldest son is a member and used it to buy an all singing, all dancing 55” TV at 44% off. It’s due for delivery tomorrow 👀
It's definitely worth getting/ using if there is something that you want or need, but I don't think it's worth paying a regular subscription for

I bought the creator tiger for £22.50 witch was half price /the police station for £37/the 2 2 packs of speed champions witch had for £30 each £15 of each and thats it all for me to build now i was disapointed as i look forward to prime day each year as its usaly abit better so i was disapointed but there were still ok deals but not like previous years i prosume its inflation so it wouldt be sensable for a company to reduce them that much

Iain, why do you think the U.K and U.S have such different Amazon Prime deals? Is it because of a change in preferred sets or do you think it’s just random.
I’m wondering because there was ZERO crossover in the deals you had vs what we had in the U.S.
Also I mentioned that I was super happy I woke up at 3am and FINALLY got the scythe at a good price, $70 and someone had mentioned that they have seen it on sale regularly in Europe for €62.
I’m just wondering your opinion on that.
Also did the EU and the U.K have different deals?
Hi, I guess each Lego market is different and it will depend on how many sets a particular Amazon distributor has in stock and how many they have sold. Even in Europe there can be vast differences in discounts on same sets - for example, some of the best deals could be found on Amazon France, however we have to be careful ordering from different countries Amazons as there are additional postage costs to pay and sometimes import duty as well. I've been waiting for the Scythe to go down in price in the UK but it hovering around the £75 mark, which is too high, but in some European countries it has been much lower than this.
@@iainsbricks Thanks for the info. I know myself and a bunch of other people have been stalking the Scythe (not for investment but just building) and it has NEVER been on sale minus 2x VIP points.

Why buy multiple sets? Especially when you don't wanna just throw money around the place? I understand buying multple sets for things like the lego star wars 501st battle pack or lego city sets as they're sets that benefit off having multiple of them if it makes sense. Like if you wanted a clone army then buying them makes sense of if you want multiple of a specific building for your city but buying multiple of the same set, especially sets that let you build a statuette or large model. Do you sell them or something?
Yes, I hold on to the sets for a year or two, then sell them. I do keep some sets for myself to build.

It's not on brick fanatic's latest list. I know some of the Disney 100 sets are retiring this year so this still may end up being on there but not as of yet
