It's mid June, but there are still Lego Star Wars Day GWPs available at the Southampton Store!
I’ve lived in Bournemouth for 35 years and had no idea this even was a thing in my town 😅😅
This is only the 2nd year the Brick Festival has been at the BIC. There are 2 planned for next year, one in March I think and one in early September again
@@iainsbricks thank you! I’m such a Lego nerd! I particularly specialise in collecting all the architecture sets!
Good to hear a successful event. Nice to make a few dollars doing something you enjoy
Thanks Adam. Yes, it was very busy, and fairly tiring, but all definitely worth it
Congratulations on selling heaps of sets. Looked very busy
Thanks Caron. It was very busy all day.
Morning mate, was great to see you again but sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye … like you was just too busy packing up, plus needed to hit the road quick as there had been an accident and road closure on my way home … three hours later I was home!! 😳 Anyway good event, but nowhere near as good as last time and I don’t just mean in sales … we obviously had Comic Con in there last time which made it busier and more customers … but I also thought they rammed a lot of traders in there this time round. Now I’m all for competition and everyone having a chance to do this … but I didn’t have enough room to swing a cat and was asked so many times about other sets as our stalls were so close together. Now like I said, not a massive negative as they’re a business as much as we are selling there and I understand in a venue that size they want to get as much in as they can … just space it better!! Anyway great to see you and hopefully have more time to chat if I see you at Southampton in December and always great to see all the LEGO enthusiasts and fans coming together and having great chats with customers!! Take care and keep up the good work!!
Hi Lee. No problem about not saying goodbye. I understand the need for a quick getaway sometimes. There were a lot of traders there yesterday - I just wonder if they are struggling to get many moc displayers these days? I was luck to be at the end of the row so had a bit of extra space to go into. I'm not officially in for Southampton in December but I may get lucky again and be able to get a late ticket again.
@@iainsbricks You may have hit a note there, as there wasn’t as many displayers … that said there was some new displayers I hadn’t seen before and the younger lad with the LEGO drawings was amazing … had to buy two for myself!! 👍 I need to be able to communicate with you off of just CZcams and slightly annoyed with myself, as meant to give you my number. That way you can keep me posted on Southampton.
@@leeshurmer7063 Send me an email if you like and I can give you my number from there. Iainsbricks@yahoo.com
@@iainsbricks I've seen several complaints about this organiser never getting back to people asking (and chasing) requests to display their builds at these shows 😬
Morning Ian. Great to see you yesterday and thank you for taking the time to say hello. That was my first Brick event to visit and what a great day out for the family. Really hope you did well on your sales and thanks again for the video. Matt from Dorset
Thanks Matt. Good to see you and the rest of the family again. Glad you had a good day. Sales went really well thanks. Bit knackered today, but it was all definitely worth it
Good to see plenty of people across all age groups, keeps the Lego alive for years to come. The more fans the better I say. That Chewbacca was seriously impressive. Keep the uploads coming.
Thanks Matt. Yes, there was a good mix of people visiting yesterday. Some of the mocs on display were fantastic
Is it safe to store lego in the attic my house is very small not alot of room so I have no choice but use my loft as a storage solution so yh. But yh gonna put the parts and manuals in zip lock bags and then into cardboard boxes ect
If you are in the UK then it's probably going to be OK in your attic as we tend not to get massive temperature swings or excessive humidity here which can damage boxes. The more protection you can give your sets the better, but definitely store in at least a cardboard box as a bare minimum to protect the Lego boxes.
@iainsbricks yes iam indeed from the uk haha so another idea I was thinking was getting those little moisture absorption packets and chucking them in the box aswell ?
@iainsbricks and yes I'm gonna store them in boxes bit gonna put the parts in zip locks aswell
Those new shelving units worked really well, much better than having to precariously stacking sets on top of each other! Your stand looks great, all uniform with the black table covers too, really shows the sets off 👌
Thanks Darren. Due to the size, I probably won't be able to take those stacking unuis to every festival, as they take up too much room in my car, but they are useful to have as and when I do have extra space.
Glad that the show was successful for you and that Duncan was kind and able to help you. Those MOCs you showed were awesome!
Thanks Sarah. Yes, Duncan is a star - he offered to help which is really kind of him. The attention to detail in those MOCS is impressive
Great show. Very busy and successful. Was great to get some time to chat towards the end of the day
Hi Mick. Great to chat to you too. I'm feeling a bit knackered still today, but it was definitely all worth it.
@iainsbricks understandable. We were shattered when we got back. And we don't have to edit videos... oh well of to sort more lego for MK next weekend 🙈
@@mickrhodes6898 I was up till quite late last night editing the video, but at least its out there now. I need to do my stock check today.
@iainsbricks well it's very much appreciated. Your videos of the shows give us new traders a better understanding of how they work
Gutted I missed out on this one, glad to see you had a very successful day, looked like an incredibly busy event! I saw the e-mail for the extra tables just too late! Thankfully I did catch a couple of other e-mails as soon as they came in, so I've now got a Brick Festival double header next weekend of Coventry and Milton Keynes. Further to travel, but at least I can kill two birds with one stone. Fingers crossed should be worth it!
Yes, unfortunately you have to be quick in responding to those emails. Good to hear you got into Coventry and MK though.
Looking at your table it does seem you had a rather successful day, thats awesome!
Thanks Peter. Yes, it was very busy
Well done 🎉
Thanks Marta
Impressive video as always Ian.. I'm pleased you had a productive and busy day. I love that you managed to also feature the brilliant mocs created by the Brick bods, the awesome Dr Who Mocs from the very talented The Minifig Who himself and the earlier medieval type mocs with the castle and the tower featured in your video was created by my good friend and extremely talented ; Brickaskew. Really enjoyable watch. Take care Ian.
Thanks Trevor. I only just about managed to get shots of those mocs right at the end of the day as it had just been so busy, I'd not been able to leave my table. I'm always very impressed by the MOC builders by the time, effort and attention to detail spent on these models and displays.
Glad the fair went well and it was nice of Duncan to help you transport some of those sets.
Thanks. Yes, it was very good of him.
Why is the Lego Group not supporting this awesome AFOL
Because being run as a commercial event ! - Its not a Lego show which is more MOC heavy than seller's. These ones are definitely seller heavy
@@garethsmith2250I feel like the ticket price is expensive for the fact that there is more to buy than to look at. I am so undecided whether I will go to the Portsmouth one…. Just because there is never anything in Portsmouth and so I feel like I want to support it.
@@samgraves7330 agreed I did Southampton wasn't overly impressed will do Portsmouth for same reason as you and buy couple of the cheap PaB cup's they do to try and cover costs getting in.
@@samgraves7330 It is fairly expensive to get into some of there larger events, but I can imagine that hiring a big venue like the BIC for a day is very expensive. I was at an event in Porchester (Hampshire Brick Event) in March with was a much smaller venue but only £3 I think to get in, so there are other shows around.
Question...What are most of the people looking for? Is it sets, mini figs, or something different?
It really is a bit of everything. I only really sell boxed sets that are either retired or hard to find. Some people go for the minifigures. Depends what people are after.
Glad to see that you are having fun. You have a great attitude. Keep it up...
Thanks William.
Compared your start and finish look and you managed to sell quite a few sets. It does look impressive.
Thanks Christopher. Yes, I was pretty busy all day.
Very good point of view. Lucky you were able to fit everything back in the car!
Yes, everything went back in OK.
those prices look really good
Thank you. I do try and keep prices competitive
Good show Iain we got an Xmas wreath off you
Hi - glad you enjoyed show. Thanks for buying the wreath. I took 2 with me and sold them both!
@@iainsbricks Right! we got the one from behind your stall, there's a reason you sold so many sets going buy some of the prices I saw around the hall...I was after the Mario ? Block but no luck today
@@darrylrehn6181 Yrs, unfortunately some people have very high price mark ups on their sets, but I guess it's all a supply and demand.
@@iainsbricks Sure it's their Lego they can sell it for what they like, was just a bit miffed at some asking for over retail on still available sets
Very impressive looking stand. Well done. My favourite sets were the two Back to the Future Dimensions sets. I would love them. Didn’t even know they existed.
Thanks David. I always take a lot of pride in making my stall look neat , tidy and presentable. The Dimensions range of sets had a really good range of figures from some very popular themes, like Back to the future, Goonies, A-Team, ET etc.
@@iainsbricks if you didn’t sell the Back to the Future sets I would be interested. Not sure if you do mail order or not though.
@@daviddambrosio6850 Hi David. I don't do mail order and only sell Lego at these types of event's I'm afraid.
Awesome
Presumably you’re declaring these transactions to the taxman Iain?
Of course. Been doing my annual tax returns for a couple of years now.
Hi Iain! Adam here, great to finally meet you at Brick Festival in Bournemouth, i went after seeing this video! It was well worth the trip and thanks for all your advice on events worth attending in the next 12 months. Hope you sort your storage out!
Hi Adam. Great to meet you today too. Hope you had a good day at the Brick Festival. I'm knackered, but it was definitely worth it.
The space sets are really well priced Iain. Wish we could go amd see you. Break a leg 🎉
Thank you. It's been a very busy and successful show
Congratulations I was at the lego store on September 1st as well in Canada. It was extremely as well.
Thanks Charlotte. Did you buy any of the new sets?
@@iainsbricks no, working on retiring sets. Still have some left to buy.
If you don’t sell the Lego house set. Would you be willing to meet up and I can buy it? I’m close to Southampton but unable to make the show today 😢
Hi. I did sell the Lego House Architecture today I'm afraid.
Interesting to see the retired sets. Do you keep any long term for your own collection?
Thanks for watching. I do have a few older sets still but most of the older sets I have I just take to Festivals altogether sell on.
Most of those sets are priced quite high eg £38 for the clone carrier.
It's quite tricky to get the prices right when selling at these festivals, however I do take time before show to check sold ebay prices beforehand to make sure I'm not too overpriced
Good luck with your festival
Thanks Daniel
Nice selection of sets. Quick question: how do you go about cellophaning your sets? Not seen that done before and would be useful for my collection.
Thanks. I just use zip lock bags that I get from ebay.
We have our eye on a few sets, this is the first event that we've been able to go to that you'll be in attendance as well! But just wondering whether you have any of the Scooby Doo sets left? 😊
Hi. Good to hear that you are able to make it. I'm afraid I no longer have any of the Scooby Doo sets left. They all sold at previous events
Great selection you’re taking tomorrow. It was absolutely packed last year so hope you do well. Will try and say hello.
Thank you. Yes, please do try and say hello if you can
Haha your garage is getting more full. I guess you have to reinforce the roof! And I am sure you are not too far from your set spilling into your bedrooms! 😂
I've got Lego in pretty much every room of the house now. I need to clear out some empty boxes from the attic to make more space.
What a GREAT selection you're taking to this one. Unfortunately I was going to come along, but now can't make it, so I'll have to catch you at the next one. But.... 3300001 BRICKLEY - I haven't seen one of those new in box for YEARS ! and your blue and white space babies for £18 is a bargain, I imagine someone will snap them up quick. I got my Dark blue space torso the day after you were in the store, and managed to upload a video on it, very quickly. Have a GREAT show, I'm sure you're going to do well with the sets you're taking.
Thanks Jez. Shame you can't make it to the show. Hopefully I have enough different things to tempt people.
@@iainsbricks Brick Bargains is going, so I'm sure he'll catch up with you there. It looks SUCH a good selection and variety, I'm sure it'll be a good one for you. I look forward to seeing the after-show video! (my spaceman video is doing insanely well)
@@MinifigJez Yes, I'm keeping a set aside for Clayton. I did watch you spaceman vid. Good to hear it's doing so well.
I’m exhibiting tomorrow. Hopefully catch you there.
Excellent. I'll see you there. What are you exhibiting?
You ever worry you sell some sets too soon? I can see that brick moulding machine set going for over 500 pounds in a couple of years.
It's a tricky one. It's a set that has increased in value a lot since I bought it 2 years ago. I know it will continue to increase as well, but I guess I have to sell it sometime.
I do find it strange that Lego gives VIP treatment to a reseller and someone who consistently breaks the one gwp household rule.
Why so strange? It's because I'm so fabulous! 😁
