  • A quick cosmetic job on the z4. I can't stand cloudy headlights so I've been meaning to do this for a while. MOT is due too and I think there's a chance it could fail on the cloudiness of the passenger side at least. I used a restoration kit to bring them back to like new condition and a UV resistant lacquer to protect them for the foreseeable.

    Cheers for the vid.👍🏻 Exactly the same as mine. Same knackered finish, condensation and odd lights. I’m not alone.😂

    Hi Nate, I'm from Brazil, São Paulo, I was researching the z4 and ended up coming across your channel, great videos, there are almost none from 2008, very rare It's very difficult to find parts, they're very scarce, I'm getting a 2008 BMW Z4 for auction that's been wrecked, your videos help me a lot, because nobody makes this type of video with this car.

      Amazing! Really happy the videos help - more are coming! Good luck with your project 👍

    Nice video! If you drill a small hole in the bottom of the light, let it drain for a week... then put a rubber bung with some silcon in it after. That way you can always remove if it does it again. Keep up the videos Nate! Spot on edit.

      Great tip! Couldn't believe how much water had got in. Plan is to find a decent matching replacement. Hopefully as long as it's sealed properly it shouldn't be a problem. We'll see!

    Nice job Nate…. Funny how I also didn’t notice the headlight difference 🥴… I’m changing the front on my Z4…. Designing a bumper to change the face… and i know i need to re-do my lights as they’re getting misty again…. Keep up the posts, good luck with the Zed MOT 👍🏻

      Honestly can't believe I've only just noticed! Couldn't see past the cloudiness I guess. I had another good look underneath it whilst I was making this and found a few more issues I need to sort before I book it in - that's content for the next vid, stay tuned 👍

    Great work cleaning up the haze! some thin 3M butyl tape around the seal and perhaps an inconspicuous pin hole on the bottom of the light if water ever gets in again, had this issue with some OEM Valeo B6 Audi lights...Keep up the great Z4 content! Just subbed!

    Mate I had same issue, I ended up removing the headlights to drain the water. I had to replace the rear covers in the end to get a decent seal. The covers are 13£ ea direct from BMW.

    • @n8green
      @n8green  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Nice, I should really check BMW for parts directly more than I do. I always assume stuff costs more direct but I know that's often not the case

    Silicon sacks (the ones you get in a shoe box) absorb moisture. I taped a couple inside my headlight. No more moisture

      Great shout. I'm gonna leave this headlight as is for the MOT as it's 90% better than it was. I'll get it replaced when a decent silver one comes up and fully dry it out ready for sale. I reckon it'll be as good as new.

    You can drill some holes to avoid the condensation.

    A me dopo aver cambiato cover posteriore del faro si è ripresentata ancora condensa.allora ho risolto completamente ispirandomi alle auto coreane che hanno dentro il faro(in maniera nascosta)sacchetti di silicon gel antiumidità.non ho più avuto problema di condensa 😉
