This is the Royal Canadian Air Force's FIRST Airbus CC-330 Husky arriving in Canada for the very first time! The Airbus CC-330 Husky is the Canadian Armed Forces version of the Airbus A330-200.
The CC-330 Husky was introduced in 2023 as the replacement aircraft for the aging CC-150 Polaris (A310) fleet. The Royal Canadian Air Force bought 4 used CC-330's and 5 newly built ones from Airbus.
The Royal Canadian Air Force plans on operating this sole CC-330 for VIP movement (Prime Minister transport) which will be replacing the current CC-150 in the famed livery (15001). The other 8 CC-330 will be MRTT operations (aerial refuelling, troop transport etc..). The CC-330 will be based in both eastern and western Canada; this VIP one will be based in Ottawa.
This is the very first CC-330 Husky which is an ex-Kuwait airways aircraft. The aircraft was in Basel for maintenance, paint and configuration. The aircraft are expected to operate for the Royal Canadian Air Force for the next 30 years.
As the aircraft has not officially been accepted by the Royal Canadian Air. Force, the aircraft flew in with Kuwaiti Airways crew, callsign and is still registered as 9K-APC. Once the RCAF officially accepts the aircraft, it will. be re-registered to 33002.

@@fazalm8687 It's an A310, spare parts are increasingly hard to find.
@@fazalm8687 the Polaris fleet is geriatric in terms of airframe hours (because no matter the party in office, we prefer equipment to deteriorate significantly prior to replacement), and with any aircraft the old girls just get grumpy sometimes and need more than speed tape and a tech to fix.
parts had to be flown from Trenton to India to fix it.
also the safety margin, there was certainly a ``go or no-go`` discussion or two if it was a lesser-critical failure.

Thanks Mark. As I watched the new Husky landing on runway 25, it reminded me of the times I would watch planes land on that runway years ago.
I had shared this video with Canadian Military Aircraft Facebook group and then noticed that the owner did not want it shared so I went back to facebook and deleted it. Hoping that down the line that there is a large expansion of DND hangars and ramp either near the Porter hangar or near Limebank road across from the main runway as the Ottawa Airport master plan has set that land asside for air side expansion

33003 had its first engine checks last week in Basel. I think she will also fly to Canada soon. 😉

Nice catch, that will be the aircraft used by the PM and the GG on their flights, the rest will in the low vis gray like the rest of the CC-150s are now.

besides being way more $ there is no way the FBOs that serve our Military have the training/trust/equip to ground handle that carbon fuselage.

some FBOs may not be able to ramp this aircraft where the 150 taxied due to wingspan. It may have to use cargo pads at some airports instead.

They should just bought one ACJ330-800neo from Airbus for the VIP transport. It would have saved hundreds of thousands in fuel costs and maintenance as well.
Penny Pinching is what did this, plus the ACJs can't be quick changed into transports during wartime.
The A330s can all be quick changed into tankers within an hour if needed.

It's a bloody Airbus 330. It's like putting a bikini on a gorilla, the only difference is you now have a gorilla in a bikini. All they did was call an Airbus 330 a Husky. Be still my beating heart.

IIRC this is a used one that was already in CJ (private) configuration.
No, it was in normal passenger configuration with Kuwait Airways, registered 9K-APC. It's 8 years old, delivered August 2015.

It's the military's jet. The PM, among others, use it some times just as the CAF does. PM doesn't have exclusive use of it, unlike the President with his planes, for example.
