- Gibson™ manufactured the original Epiphone Frontier in its Kalamazoo factory from 1958 until 1970. Now the FT-110 Frontier is being made in the USA once again, and is proudly handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, by Gibson’s best acoustic luthiers. Featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and solid figured maple back and sides, Indian rosewood fretboard, traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, gold-plated Gotoh Keystone tuners, the iconic "lariat and cactus" themed pickguard, and a 25.5” scale length for a powerful tone. It comes equipped with an L.R. Baggs VTC pickup, so it is stage and studio-ready, right out of the included hardshell case.

I have a 1965 dove my uncle gave to me before he left half his body in Vietnam. I've played your guitar and all so much the same feel and sound.
Tulsa, Oklahoma
One of my favorite aspects to guitar playing and “guitar culture” is the emotional significance these instruments carry. What an honor to have your uncle’s 65 Dove.
Thank you Richard for your comment. God bless your uncle, we are so grateful for all our men and women who serve.❤️🙏
That must be my guitar. Thank you Palen music! It's outstanding.
Thank you!!! It’s a great guitar and we are grateful that you chose to get it from us. 🙏
Incredible Guitar, wish I could afford it!
Killer gear, super high quality audio and video. This channel has great demos.
Wow! thank you so much for that amazing compliment!!
I could listen to you talk about guitars for hours! I appreciate the content!
Thank you brother Ray! Your stock market channel is sweet soothing capitalism at its best. You’ve got to figure out a way to get some piano in your show…
@@naterevolution I’ve thought about playing a few stock market ragtime pieces. “Show me the money”
@@tripledigitgains I would love to see Wayne Southern make an appearance 😄
Great pickin' Nate!
Thanks Dylan, I appreciate you!!!
Just got a 1965 one owner frontier. Not a finish crack or any sign of wear plus the brazillian bridge saddle. Got it for 4k same as the new one. Best guitar I have ever played, beats d28 brazillian. If you can afford it, get a old one.. serious sleeper. New ones are no where as articulate, the old ones sound so strong.
Congratulations! Sounds like you got a great guitar. Thanks for your comment and thanks for subscribing!
@@naterevolution no problem. Have a good one!
The (other) main difference to a Hummingbird (24.75) is the difference in scale length, as with the Dove (25.5). The difference in sound is evident. It's not all about wood…
That’s a good point! I appreciate you bringing that up. Thanks for the comment, keep ‘em coming!👍
@@naterevolution your playing sounds great. Another point with 25.5 scales, is that you can always tune it down a halfstep and capo in 1st fret, to get a similar string tension as on a short scale like the Hummingbird. I prefer 12-56 for this on a long scale. Or if you prefer heavy strings (14-58), you can even tune down a whole-step for capo on 2nd, for more of a 12-fret sound. Always check that the guitar is designed for heavy strings before tuning up to normal tuning.
Even if woods, bridge placement, scalloping and other details might vary, this gives a variety of tone-options for a long scale.
@@bzznz wow! You have tremendous insight thank you so much for this. Keep these comments coming. I look forward to hearing more from you!
Built in mic be like: "squackidy squack squack". Otherwise one of the best sounding guitars.
I do not disagree. 😄 It’s tough for a piezo pickup to ever be as good as a good mic. But that said, if EQ’d right in a live band setting it can certainly find its “sweet spot”. I appreciate your comment and thanks for subscribing!
Was that beginning a rendition of don't think twice by Dylan?
Yes sir! 😄👍
What gauge strings are you playing?
I believe there’s a set of 12-53s on there. Thanks for commenting & subscribing!
It’s a dove with a longer scale length?
You know what, that’s a great observation and I hadn’t thought to compare the two of those when we made this video. The dove & the frontier are definitely close cousins. The specs are really similar except the nut on the frontier is a little bit wider. I appreciate you pointing that out. Thanks for commenting and subscribing!
Dove has a 25.5 inch scale; it's the Hummingbird that has the 24.75 inch scale.... Dove also has the maple back and sides., same as Frontier... It's also a dreadnaught, so it's fairly close to Dove specs, not a J200 (which is jumbo)
What song is that?
“Don’t Think Twice” by Bob Dylan at the top of the video. Thanks for your comment and for subscribing! 🙏
@@naterevolution Great arregment
@@mateomalaquinlicandro1706 thanks brother!!!
psychedelic starry emblems... you sold it to me although there are some uncanny similarities with the rhetorical style of Donald Trump
😄😆 Thanks for your comment and for subscribing!
For the price point, rather buy a vintage one that costs approx the same. The longer narrow headstock over the fatter ones aesthetically looks better.
Thanks for commenting! If you can find a vintage Frontier in this price point, do it! Last I checked those guitars (in good playing condition) had increased in price quite a bit. I appreciate your comment and thanks for subscribing!🙏
If you find a second vintage one at this price point drop me a line, it’s $2K less than I’m seeing them for these days but I’m just looking on Reverb, etc.
Talking in CAD dollars, a couple years ago Folkway Music was selling a ‘67 FT-110 for approx $2500. Tried to pick it up but sold immediately. Perhaps now it’s a different story, but if you look hard enough you may see an opportunity….
