As a woman who grew up on early 2000's anime, I can definitely say that it still gets flack which is why so many reboots nowadays. But I love most anime demographics, I'm not picky. I'll go from laughing at something that happens in The Apothecary Diaries which is a Sienne to crying over my favorite Hashira's death in Demon Slayer for the 100th time. As long as its a good story that keeps me interested, I'm willing to give it a try.
I can't stop grinning about how ridiculous this video is... not you explaining the obvious to people, the fact you have to explain it _at all_ is what is hilarious. That women look at drawings from japan and get offended because they are not the way they want them to be - is just funny. It be like some guy in america getting offended at One Piece because all the men in it are too proactive and believe in friendship while all the men he knows personally hate living and aren't muscular at all. Also, cannot help but grin again when you describe stuff for women and show Classroom of the Elites - a show about a genius psychopath that uses everyone around himself to achieve his goals, girls included.
@@stephonwalker5425 yep, she's one of the best martial artists in the verse rn. But it hasn't gotten there in the anime unfortunately. Read the manga though it's better 🙏🙏.
I think more elaboration is needed. Shounen women are not meant for uptight _modern_ western women. I've talked to many people online, forums, art sites, chans, and dare I say even reddit here and there over the last 20+ years, there's always been women that enjoy shounen women, be it from Japan, Europe, South American or North. Poor example, but still a decent one: Deviant Art. Extra trashy art site nowadays, but during the last two decades I've seen thousands of female artists love drawing sexy attractive shounen women, even to drawing girl characters that were never intended to be sexy more or less. The only difference now is we have women that are not anime fans watching said anime.
The only thing I disagree with is that imo there are in fact some badly written Shonen women, when it comes to what the character was obviously meant to be vs how they actually came out
Honestly great take and i agree with this, but I'm sorry to be that guy, but its pronounced "show-joe" for the word Shojo. Other than that, I appreciate this video
I was looking for this comment: why on earth would he assume a Japanese word would have "Spanish" pronunciation? That is just so inexplicable to me I wonder how he came to assume it was so. Good video regardless
Love your takes... you may wish to consider upgrading your mic setup at some point. Right now the quality is a little all over the place. All the best!
I currently have a Blue Yeti mic and I can't tell if it's background noise or simply I'm congested lol. I appreciate the feedback and you watching my video
@@TheOldWeeb No sweat, a little of both perhaps... it actually sounds like the mic distorting quite a bit. Maybe the in input is a little hot, and when you get too close it begins to break up. Just looking at the mic specifications if I may suggest to try dialing back the input gain a bit. Also engaging the limiter may help with the distortion. And for the pattern selection, you will want to use the cardioid in your situation. Hope this helps, and keep up the great work!
@@TheOldWeeb i hear you already got your mic sounding better in your newer vids , but yes you just need to play around with the settings a lot to get to something that doesn't sound bad like this , there are audio mixer programs you can dl that can also greatly help in this regard , i have a blue snowball mic and it makes a noticeable improvement to how the voice sounds with the right settings on the voice meter program
I disagree with you on one point even though I agree with most of you said in this video namely that guys like mitsurugi just because she is physically attractive since I highly doubt that I'm the only male viewer that finds her personality to be quite endearing on top of her being quite physically attractive!!!

sure it does , that just means creative visions have changed , not that the original vision was invalid from the start what's more all such changes done to modern anime are the result of western financial ownership and terrorism against japanese media , which is what makes the modern changes actually invalid over the originals....
Better written is a vague term. The women are popular in Japanese popular contest and character reviews because they actually appeal to the audience. The degrees of how they are written is entirely based on their plot importance, so if you think they aren't well written then consider if they are important to the overall plot
"Better" is a subjective term. If a female character written to be complex in an anime ends up not being liked because she's perceived "boring" and "over-centralizing" by the series' intended audience, then it's a worse written character.

One thing I would like to see is a battle shounen with a female mc that does throw hands
Watch Symphogear
Undead unluck. Read the manga

while I do dislike how underused the girls are used in many shounen, what you're saying is still 100% fax
i would highly recommend the shounen with the mc being a female character like Kill la Kill, Frieren, Soul Eater.

My respect to Japan anime from the 2000s Naruto, Dragon Ball, Inuyasha, One piece. Sometimes, I want to leave my own country and live in the east
The golden era of anime
