I had to wear crinolines for dancing when I was younger. Anyone who’s done square dancing, folk dancing, Scottish, Irish, etc… dancing has had to wear these things. The stiff mesh fabric can be very itchy, so I recommend a cotton slip first to protect your poor skin from the mesh, then your crinoline. You dress is so cute!! ❤
Wearing crinolines growing up our Mom always had us wear a cotton slip under it. I'm sure she did it for our comfort but also to keep us from wiggling to much. When we square danced with our kids I used Mom's trick too. Also used pettipants under square dance dresses and skirts
omg the capelet!!!! i love that so much! i am into lolita fashion which shares similar silhouettes to 50s. i definitely want to make one of these for myself now!
I simply adore this channel. Her talent is incredible. Her grace and femininity is so inspiring. Every video makes me feel like I've traveled back in time.
I remember, when I was around 5 yr old, having a petticoat for a full skirt dress. It was mostly limp netting, but it had a circular balloon all around the hemline. I loved that petticoat!❤️❤️❤️
Layered petticoats are wonderful. Sometimes I wear three, for extra proof. Their respective lengths can make a conical shape, a tulip shape, or, with the ultra-full, close to a half sphere.
Oh, so cute! One thing we mostly don’t think about is whether our clothes really fit! Yours fit you like a glove because of your tailoring skills. It makes a huge difference!🌼
Thank you so much! I’ll admit I never notice my focus is always on keeping up with my fam, but I have had nice people stop to chat about my outfits from time to time 💕
Adorable, vintage style is so feminine and ladylike but with a serious "Bossness" about it. The capelet is a perfect example of how the styles left no detail out and you sew them masterfully. You have inspired me to set my sewing area back up, I recently moved and I'm going to dedicate space that will encourage my sewing more often 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thegreenmanofnorwich, that's so funny! I know the same trait. There was a cartoon strip called "Peanuts" in which there was a character named "Pigpen" who would come out of his house cleaned up and well groomed, wearing spiffy clean clothes. Within each following frame, everything went awry, became crooked, and he accrued splotches of dirt, his hair a mess. THAT'S the picture!
Your a vintage inspiration for me. I've been wanting to learn how to tailor so I can buy 60s and 70s menswear and tailor it to my body. After a while of experimenting with different aesthetics I know that vintage menswear with hints of feminity is what I want. And I love how you just fully go for it. You look so good.
1. You look GORGEOUS! An iconic beauty! 2. Is this a butterick pattern by any chance? I’ve had a lot of sewing success with 50s patterns and I’m hoping this is one of the easier ones. This is a great summer silhouette that’s truly timeless!
I so love the 50's era! The style so glamorous, and men, always so handsome with a suit and tie, and the music, too. I love your channel. You bring back so much nostalgia, and I love the styles you pick. 🎷🎙️📻📺🎼📰💕🌷
Layering petticoats is a most historic fashion trick that has been done for eons! You make dressing chic seem doable for anyone that puts in a bit of effort. Fantastic style Lady!
I will have to say you have got to be one of the most lovely sophisticated elegant ladies I have seen on the internet. I would definitely love to see these Fashions come back
I love your videos they are so insightful. I grew up in the fifties and sixties and I love how you take me back mentally to those times through your sewing. Keep it up!
Your creativity is in competition with your phenomenal ability with a needle. My mom made all the clothes for our family of six. Thank you, thank you for the walk down memory lane.
You look beautiful in everything you wear, and you made almost everything yourself! I hope that you help inspire people to sew, and elevate their style. In times past, you could buy a dress that was pretty for not much money, made in the US garment workers union, or buy the fabric and make it yourself. Now there is mostly clothing made who knows where overseas, and of poor quality, and there are hardly any fabric stores anymore.
Sewrena you are winning at life, I want to be like you thank you for sharing your passion for vintage style and taste with the world and showing that it is attainable 👌💯😉
I still have the dresser behind you in the Video It belonged to my Grandfather & was given to me after he passed away. Watching this video of you dressing in Vintage wear brings back Sooo many found memories of my mom & my aunt’s … thank you so much for doing this for daring to be different I ❤️ your content it’s so original God bless you!! Do you sew, or buy, I don't know how to sew.
@@Blessed-jz7fh I buy...I don't know how to sew either haha
A capelet, so cute it's painful! How have we lost so much charm in today's clothes. Just beautiful
😊👍🏾
I remember when when turned clothes with so many holes in them into dishrags and we still sewed those and had them looking nice.
Now they seem to want the more holes the better
I agree. The charm of those days - not just in their looks but in the values and character, too.
SOOOoooooo CUuute ☺️💕🤗
You've actually inspired me to learn how to sew and adopt this gorgeous style.
You’ve actually inspired me to NOT learn to sew & watch your show more often!
@@terriseaton3049 😂😅 I'm too lazy. but I do love watching this

Thanks I make my petticoats so I always add a soft layer of cotton to protect my skin.

Have you always liked 40s and 50 clothes? They had such style. The cars, Funiture and houses did too!!
Yea!!! It started with my fascination of 70’s clothes as a kid and the older I got the more into vintage I became eventually adoring other decades too
@@SewRena Well you are just too cute!
Talent. I just see talent.

Same here yes !! Imy older sister both had matching full skirts ...oh loved it too!!!hello Dr TexasUSA 🇨🇱
This dress is one of my favorites! The 50/60s silhouette with the big skirts since I was little too, it’s so pretty 🥰
This dress is incredible and the pupper is perfection 😊
Agreed!!🤩
Yes It's so gorgeous 👍❤️ I LOVE It a lot 😍
Layered petticoats are wonderful.

I bought the perfect petticoat from “secrets in lace” Couldn’t find one anywhere.
@@awwyeahme2 congratulations !
How do you keep them from tangling between your legs? Maybe I'm the only one with the problem, but it happens surprisingly often
@@merelha5930 do you mean while walking?
If yes, a "slip" works quite well.

So talented! Beautiful dress!
Love the pretty dress and also LOVE your wallpaper.
Your stripe matching is meticulous. Everything you’ve sewn is beautifully made.
Thank you so much ! I tried my best with the stripes
Pretty as always. I'm not sure why clothing styles have to go "out of style" anyway. I think we should have various looks and styles any way.
Fashion changes mostly to enrich the mega corporations pumping out fast fashion rags.
This dress is,adorable!
Looks very nice. I'm glad you're bringing back the styles of the past.
All of your outfits are literally _so_ pretty like 🥺 I love that style so much
So far, this is my favorite outfit that you have made ❤
Loooove how this looks. It really adds an authentic dimension to the silhouette!
Thank you so much
I was a child during the 50s. My mom made all my clothes. I love your creations because they remind me of how much I loved wearing Mom's handiwork.
Aww thank you so much 💕💕💕

The right undergarments really make a difference to the final look for any historical or vintage garment
I believe it work for any fitted garment.
That looks so pretty!!
So modest! We all know that the petty coat isn't the only reason the dress looks bigger in the skirt! Absolutely gorgeous!
