    Working on a car can be intimidating, but with the right tools, you'd be surprised by how much you can do on your own. After tackling many automotive DIY projects over the years, I have acquired quite a few tools. In this video, I'll go over the tools that I feel are most essential, especially for beginners looking to do their first project.
    There is nothing more annoying than being 4 hours deep into a repair and realizing that you are missing the tool for the next step. make sure that you have al the tools you need BEFORE you start your project!

      Yes indeed, even worse when mechanics see your 10 yr old car in great condition they just can't let that go by without doing some serious damage to the car, recently went to dealer now turns out i need to change Valve cover gasket , which they ended up tighten up the bolts too tight ended up leaking from one side and of course the cover is made out of plastic, soo yes please keep away from mechanics or dealership... They just want money they get a commission for every part that is being changed and the labor

    Old school mechanic here, honest video. My opinion, on tools for I am guessing for beginners. And kinda on a budget, for complete mechanic socket set, I would go with dewalt 204pc mechanic tool set. For a complete set you get 1/2,3/8, & 1/4, sockets, you get allen, T-torx, socket set, you get 9 extension set, metric & SAS wrenches, & allen keys. Another tool is a low profile jack from Harbor freight, along with rhino ramps, usually the rhino ramps come in a pair set, I would suggest to get 4 ramps to support the car properly, another tool, jack stands. At least 2 pair. Also jack pucks I suggest a set of 4. So you won't damage your sides underneath your bmw car when lifting. Another tool a ob2 reader or Carly app. A good set of wrenches, pick tools, or hook tools , and plastic pry tools so you won't damage the paint on your car or other parts of your car when removing a part. Oil tool remover, I would suggest Ares brand oil tool remover ,along with Ares magnetic spark plug socket with built in extension. Last but not least, a magnetic flash light, or a hood light bar that hooks underneath your hood and lights up your engine bay. These are just my opinions, but cool video 😊

    My favorite is the foldable head ratchet. I have one from Gearwrench that has a rubber handle that I love and I have it in the different sizes. It is a knuckle saver! Also most of my sockets are in 3/8 and metric 6 point btw which is what you need most of the time. Don't bother buying the 12 point sockets or the larger like 1/2 in wrenches. For those of you learning and just getting into it. Also, spend the money on good useful tools, don't be cheap, you'll regret it later when you start buying the good ones later on and you spend double on the same tools.

    Especially for BMWs, a decent scan tool. I use a Foxwell NT510, but there are others that might work even better. Even before you get a SES light, you can do live monitoring to make sure everything is functioning properly, such as your fuel trims or O2 readings, before something fails. However, when you get an SES light, you can get the direct BMW code along with the description, rather than a generic OBD code. Some googling around and 9/10 you can fairly quickly determine the source of a code/codes.

      Rc Watching spray some WD-40 where the bolts used to be and let it sit for a while. Then use a sledge hammer and tap it from behind on the tire part of the wheel. Try not to miss and hit your rims though!

    • @justinbuice
      @justinbuice  Před 5 lety +1

      That happens to me sometimes. you can spray wd-40 or some other penetrating oil on the hub. I usually end up just kicking it for a while until it breaks free.

    The best way to own any vehicle, is wrenching 🔧your own way around the engine, otherwise mechanics will bankrupt you.

    • @mcgyverb1664
      @mcgyverb1664 Před 5 lety +1

      Ben Kioko nowadays cars are very popular, and running into maintenance issues is a must, mechanics are very busy, so there’s usually a long line of vehicles getting serviced and they might not even get to yours the next day, so having an arsenal of tools, and knowing how to get stuff done is the better cheapest route to go, it’s better than waiting for someone else to do it, and they charge big money for labor, that you yourself could do, especially with so much information on diy available.
