    I started getting back into knives about a year ago. I hemmed and hawed and purchased an all stainless Delica 4. Then I cursed myself for spending $60 on a stupid knife. But when the daggone thing showed up, I couldn't put it down. I carried it everywhere and I played with it continually. Within days of receiving it I'm all over the knife retailers and CZcams. I'm seeing Sebenzas everywhere. The best, they say. So I go look ... and spit Kool-Aid all over my monitor ... $400!! No way. Never happen. Not on your life.
    I've bought about a dozen knives this year.
    I just bought one this morning - my first Sebenza. A small 21 dressed in carbon fiber.
    I don't know whether to cheer or go throw up.

    What a wonderful collection you have Rob! I wish to tell you something.. You are the reason why I just purchased a Large Sebenza 21 and a Small Sebenza 21 (Plain handles/Drop point).They are new from july 2018 both of them. I bought the Sebenza 25 in 2014 - Yes I agree with you that CRK should have called the Sebenza 25 something else,Maybe Inkosi (Just my thinking) :-) The Small Sebenza is very small,I got to get used to it he he :-) I wish to thank you for inspiring me into the Chris Reeve area again, (just had a long relationship to Microtech,and offcause I still have) :-) But your knowledge and videos you are sharring around Chris Reeve knives,made me think alot about the Sebenza 21´s. So Im very grateful for that! I purchased my knives at knivesandtools.de,cus I live in Denmark (Scandinavia). At some time Im thinking to get a inlayed Sebenza 21..Maybe the micarta I think . I think Im your no.1 subscriber in Denmark :-) Thanks for sharing your knowledge arround knives, I enjoy it alot! And I learn alot from you! May god be with you. All best Mikkel (Denmark)

    Nice trip down your CRK road. I carried my small seb all weekend and it's just a dang good knife. For what it's worth I enjoy the feel of the plain handle on mine. Also, aesthetically I prefer the clean look of it. That's not to say I wouldn't also hook into a small inlay insingo oneday : )
    Good note that you made about the grind of the Umnumzaan. I've been checking the CRK site to see if that one has been (or will be) released in the small size. Maybe the Umnumzaan was always meant to be large.
    Great video!

    Great video, as always. I followed the same purchase style with CRK as you, but with righties. I also did get a 25 with micarta, which I carry a lot. I do highly agree with you that the 21 pivot bushing is what truly makes a sebenza. The 25 is a must have for a collector though... you are officially a collector. Haha! Next I would recommend a damascus 21. Beautiful blades. I have two damascus; a micarta small and a unique graphic small. I highly recommend them.

I don't trust myself to carry it clipped onto pocket however.... We all know it would be a HUGE bummer to lose one! Do you have any ideas along the line of another way to tote this tool for EDC? Grateful for His blood my brother.

  • @migerukun25
    @migerukun25 Před 9 lety

    Curious as to why you don't try "Spydie dropping" the Mnandi. Would it affect it in any way? I carry a SOG Micron II in my change pocket, and have had it for 2 years now, and that's how I open it one handed. Even though it's so small, I just pinch the blade, and the knife is just smooth enough that that alone starts to open it, then just drop it, and it snaps into place. Now, the Micron is a very cheap, simple lockback, but I only started really opening it that way after locktiting the pivot after having dropped the knife a few dozen times accidentally, and fucking it up that way. But so far it works.

    • @TheApostleP

      Stonewashed. The polished blades come only with the wood and up scales, and on clip blades only, never an Insingo.

      @anthonyburke1289 Před 8 lety

    • @anthonyburke1289

      +TheApostleP I only ask because I know the micarta inlays standard is stonewash and for 15 bucks more you can get it polished and I don't know what to get:/

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  Před 8 lety

      The polished blades are a bit thinner if that helps you make the decision. That's why Insingos are never polished -- they're ground thinner than the clips to start with. CRK thinks if they polish them, they'll be too thin.

    • @DougFLA123
      @DougFLA123 Před 5 lety

      I have a Plain Large Inkosi and love it. I’ve been hesitant to buy a Sebenza because of the pocket clip resting directly over the lock bar. Do you think that’s a legitimate thing to be concerned about? Do your fingers ever press on the clip thereby pressing on the lock bar thus making it hard to open up the knife. You seem to open every knife effortlessly but would you say there’s a difference in technique in opening an Inkosi verses opening a Sebenza?

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  Před 5 lety +1

      DougFLA123 Not in my experience. It was really only a problem in the Sebenza 25, because it was so close to the edge of the lockbar, it made the knife uncomfortable in hand.

    Hey, you sharpened my Manix 2 XL and it was perfect. Thanks. I was wanting to buy my first higher priced knife (around $500) and I’m leaning towards a Chris Reeve, but want some direction on which one to get. I know I want a large with an Insingo blade, but am confused between Sebenza or the Inkosi?
