Oh WOW did this bring back memories. One very underrated movie, full of teenage angst, nepotism, there is always that boy who has everything given to him, and that misunderstood young man who just wants to be loved. It has one of THE best endings EVER……..coupled with Bob Seger’s “Roll me away” as they disappear down the road on the motorcycle, absolute GOLD.
The 80s was full of the rich girl falls in love with the boy, on the wrong side, of the tracks and vice versa movies. You're right about the ending! That was so romantic! It was like Tracy said "Yes, I'm willing to take this journey, with you, and I love you too!" OMG I love the ending!
The ending was my anthem when my wife and I moved from Detroit to So Cal in 1986. I rode my 82 Suzuki GS 750 out there.......shr followed in my 84 Ford EXP 2 seater! We stayed in So Cal 33 years, in South Carolina now, I lost my wife last month.
Such a great movie. I was 15 when this movie came out. I was with my first love at the theater. At the end we both just stood up.. Looked at other never saying a word and hugged for what seemed like forever. . Ah young love in the 80s. 😥
One of the best endings ever! Unfortunately...both became fry cooks at a local McDonald's in Toadsuck, Arkansas where they continue to work to this very day.
I was 18 years old when this movie came out yeah the 80s was a great time in my life I was wild and crazy lived to the fullest. The best of times now things are just boring and sad
The movie was filmed in my hometown of Weirton, West Virginia. The sceen down the long hill was WV route 2 heading north. The pool scene was at the community center. Also I know about half of the extras in the Romeo Void dance number.
How much Weirton had gone downhill since then. I'm from Chester, and this sequence runs through my mind every time I drive up 2 from the city past the Vo-Tech. I can even still envision the old Daily Double at the bottom of the hill.
Watched this for the first time. Was a 5 year old kid when it came out. 80s is huge nostalgia. And the music from 80s is simply otherworldly. Not to mention Aiden Quinn looks so damn fine. ❤ Loved him in Legends of the Fall
@@clairefreeman6273 if we're taking this as real life & not a fairytale I'm pretty sure that Tracy would have left Johnny. She found him exciting, but that was when she was under the roof of a nice big house! Johnny had a violent streak I don't see Tracy putting up with that. Plus I think that she would have gotten bored, with Johnny, and either moved on, with another man, or went back home. I don't think that they would have stayed together. No money or anywhere to go. Johnny with his violent streak. Since I love the ending and thought that Darryl Hannah and Aidan Quinn had amazing chemistry I like to think that the characters lived happily ever after!
This is my all time favorite movie. I saw it in 1986 when I was 13 and already in love with Daryl Hannah. I was immediately sucked in by the dark atmosphere of the movie and the amazing music. Not just the tracks from the bands, but all the music in the movie. It has that dreamy 80's synth sound that I'm in love with. The adult in me now wonders how many days they actually made it before Tracy went back home. She did get that new credit card from her mom, and johnny grabbed that 50 out of the cigar box before the house burned down. Who knows, maybe Johnny found a job and they somehow did live happily ever after.
I lived this song about 15 yrs.... Ago haha even down to the hawk but is was an eagle flew right across in front of the bike...oh what a great 5 days that was.. Lol....love this song... love this movie used to watch it all the time in 1984. Thanks for posting. Forgot Bob Seger sang ladt song. Brings back great memories!!!
OMG FIRE WITH FIRE!!!! I can't even count how many times that I've seen that movie! Virginia Madsen and Craig Schaefer were the best! I loved that movie!
Thanks for posting this. I loved it when I saw it but those were the days of VHS and I can't find it anywhere. It brought back a flood of memories. Cheers, Lisa
When I first saw this movie on HBO as a 12 year old, I didn't even realize Jennifer Grey was in it. Blink and you'll miss her. Good movie. In real life there is no way she goes off with Johnny. She marries Randy, stays in town and has 3 kids.
What drew my attention to this movie is Adam baldwin is a good character. He knows how to play a real good guy, and other scenes he can play a real Criminal Asshole. I always been big fan of that guy
I’m sorry for your loss💔, such a beautiful memory you have! I was 14 when this movie came out! I didn’t think much of it then but there is so much to talk about in this movie ❤️🩹
Saw this movie in the 80s and LOVED it. I was in my twenties and watched it again in my sixties. Still just as great and yes, the ending is PHENOMENAL!! ❤👍
I was 6 yrs old when this movie came out, why do I remember it so well, because the 80's was frickin' awesome !!, think about the stark difference between kids lives then and now. Kids now days, their lives are only complicated because their parents tell them no or they don't get their way. Kids back then could enjoy life w/o having to worry about a cell phones, social media, climate change....
I dunno how old I was when it came out, but I found a rare vinyl shop in the city that got me Romeo Void never say say on cassette for me with a pretty long wait. It was never meant to be released the guy said.
I think that’s when the American Dream started dying - if it ever really existed. In the 70s under Nixon China was opened to the West and all of the big industries started closing factories in the US and going there. Then Reagan suckered everyone with his trickle down economics which has only seen the Rich getting ever richer, while the middle class is virtually non existent and the Poor are getting poorer. One of the biggest hits of the 80s was the film Wall Street and Gordon Gekko’s famous statement “Greed Is Good” came to define the entire decade. I have relatives in the US and I remember visiting them back then and there really was a line, even in the neighborhood they lived in between the Haves and Have Nots. The Popular Kids were the ones who’s parents could afford to pay the fees to belong to the Homeowners Association so their kids could use the swimming pool and tennis courts located in the neighborhood. Sometimes their kids went to private schools as well. The Unpopular Kids, the Have Nots, were kids who attended the local public school and their parents couldn’t afford the fees for the neighborhood swim and tennis club. And from my visits there really was a line drawn that the popular, rich kids weren’t supposed to hang out with the poor kids. They really looked down their noses at them.
40 years 🎂. Ok 👌 movie 🎥. Daryl Hannah also was in Splash, which would also be released in the same year. I thought the soundtrack should have put a song sung by Bryan Adams then. He and Jim Vallance wrote a song of the same title, Reckless. The album to be released on 5 November also had that title.
Well, 9 years later if you are still here....at first the are heading south on Main Street in Weirton WV (WV Route 2) at the very end they are actually heading North on WV Route 2 (going down hill) just North of New Cumberland WV about 10 miles north of Weirton. At the time the steel mill in this scene is Weirton Steel. Its mostly gone now. You may recognize some of the background from the movie Super 8 from 2012 and from the Deerhunter around 1976 or 1977ish. In the Deerhunter one scene was a house or trailer set up right across the road from Rourke house that burned at end. This house was (may be still) at very North end of where old Weirton Main street connects with what is WV route 2 or from that point called County Road. And there ya go
@@davidjamison6804 I easily spotted Weirton Studios, the BOP, and the tandem mill. I can just see this scene when I head up 2 past the Vo-Tech. I can still picture the old Daily Double at the bottom of the hill.
hahaha....where's your sense of romance??? my husband and i are almost word for word anything for love by james house......romance makes any situation worth it!!!!! and i know where toadsuck is!!!! hahahahaha
Pathetic ending. You just don't drop everything your parents worked hard for and provided and run off with a rebel who has few dollars and no future and, very little education.

The dance scene took almost 12 hours to film. I was an extra in it with Michelle D'Aimico as my dance partner. Best 12 hours of my life! Lol!!
holy crap! i pictured that dance scene every time i went out and did my best to recreate it
How was his neck the next day?
Really. Cool 😎

Very cool. Just rewatched the flim last night. That dance scene is incredible!

I love the romanticism of this ending..until his bike runs out of gas, they need a place to live and food.
I know! I always wondered what happened to them? And I sure hope Darryl Hannah held on to that Belk's card or whatever it was her mom gave her! lol

Love this movie. Love this ending too… as completely and utterly unrealistic as it may be.
A lot of this movie was filmed at my High School. Mingo High School in Mingo Junction, Ohio. Man does this movie bring back memories.

This was a great movie. What was it with the 80's though? LOTS of "rich vs poor kids" movies.
Yes, it was the cliche of that time., but after awhile you felt like you've seen one you've seen all!
