  • Hello and welcome to another quick tip video for the Behringer 2600.
    I would like to share some tipps and ideas about connecting the 2600 to sequencers and modular gear using it’s CV and Gate jacks and how to use the envelopes independently.
    Hope you enjoy the video and find it helpful.

    Thanks for this informative video. I was having problems with gating the ADSR. Watched a few other videos but none of it worked. I am using a Division 6 Dual Mini Sequencer and thought that was the issue. I was narrowing it down to a gate issue and now I finally have that resolved. I also have an SQ-1 and I'll start trying theses techniques with that.

    What I like about your video's is the great transparency. Its clear what you are doing and how you build up things. Not a lot of equipment, thats nice too! Just two or three devices. And also is clear the way you use and connect the devices and the patch cables. Nice. At last that is what we want to know. Too ofen on UT there is in other video's a gap between set up and the end result. "But how?? WTF??", I am asking myself. I can't follow this! "Hello!! I'am a beginner!!" Although that kind of video's are very impressive (with lots of equipment), but they are more showy than educational. More a sort of smart and handy kids: "look at me! "
    Do you know what I mean?
    The way you do it is far more interesting, because its clear what you do and how you do it and told in an easy tempo. I love it, because I can try and practice what you are showing us, step by step. So keep on doing this good en great work. From this video's of you I learn a lot! And now I'm having fun and success. An example for everyone! In the contrary: from the video's of the 'fast guys' I always get very frustrating: "come on guy, show me step by step!" Or "what are you exactly doing?"
    So thanks a lot man!

      Cheers! That Rez lead sound patch can be seen in the „Rezinger“ Video I made. It’s the still picture of that video. Basically it’s a saw tooth with a fixed note going through the VCF with resonance. The Filter Frequency is following the kb tracking to pick out the overtones which form the melody. A little distortion is then provided by the external input and mixed parallel with the vcf out to the vca.

    Hello, great video! I wanted to ask if you know, is it possible to send the VCOs to an external EG module and have it send back into the VCA? I’m sorry if it’s a dumb question, I’m rather new to semi-modular/modular stuff.

    • @tomnoise23
      @tomnoise23  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Max. So, is this correct? you want to trigger an envelope generator by a VCO of the 2600? Sure you can do that. Then you want to send the output of the envelope to the VCA of the 2600? Sure, also possible. The VCA has both Audio and Control inputs. Just wondering what would be the purpose.

    • @nunyabissnas
      @nunyabissnas Před 3 lety +1

      @@tomnoise23 hello! Thank you for the reply! The reason I ask is because I’ve got a key step pro, and thought it would be cool to get some different envelopes for each voice going. Also because the key step pro has 4 sequencing lanes. Main reason I asked is because of setting up a separate sequence for each vco, and my problem being that I can’t get sound to produce for a singlular VCO(each VCO KBCV being sent to a individual sequence on key step pro) under the VCA part of final mixer, and they only work when I use the VCF in mixer section(which drones other VCOs as well forever), and I understand you can use the toggle where the S&H is, but problem with that route for me is that when I hit a key, it will then trigger the envelope for all the VCOs, rather than whatever singular VCO I’m trying to trigger by itself. I’m sorry if I described it poorly, Sweetwater actually has a demo with keystep pro and in video they send each VCO to its own sequencing lane, the time stamp is 23:15, and in the video from what I can tell is that he’s using the VCF in mixer section, but I’d love to try and do the 3 separate voices route with some different envelopes and no group triggering, as well as the problem drone from the VCF end of mixer. Also thank you a lot for the reply, I’ve been watching your arp 2600 videos for weeks, and they’ve been awesome, thanks for the great info. Hope I wasn’t too confusing, apologies if so.

      @@nunyabissnas You`re welcome. Did you check the Quick Tips 1 Video i made for stopping the drone?

    • @tomnoise23
      @tomnoise23  Před 3 lety

      Ah wait, i think i am getting it. So essentially you want have more than one voice out of the 2600. Well, without a bit of extra VCAs it`s not possible imo. But what you could do is to use 1 or two oscillators (CV1) to create a voice which can be played by cv and gate, using only one of the envelope generators(Gate1).
      Then you create a second Voice with another oscillator (played by CV2), sending to the Ring Mod input in DC mode (this way it will act like a VCA) and the other Envelope (triggered by Gate 2) output to the other RingMod input. At the output of the RingMod you`ll have the second voice. I think a third voice with Gate on/off is not possible without extra VCAs.
      As far as i`m aware, the Keysetp Pro doesn`t have Envelopes or VCAs, just CV and Gate Outputs - if i`m not mistaken?
