    Seth Godin is always a gem. "good enough" was my take away. I still have a Seth Godin action hero !!! of all things in its package from one of his events in Manhattan back in 2009. What a treat to be in a small audience wherein he just did Q&A for an entire day. I remember that was the first day I experienced a food truck too (his team had it come visit for our lunch- waffles I believe). I still remember the question I asked him, not to mention the poker players there who weren't granted a 2nd round of answers to their question .... he even said, "no more questions from the poker guys." It was brilliant. Strong. Wise. Boundaries.

    I've been on a Seth binge lately going from one CZcams interview to the next of him so soak up common themes I see. This interview is probably the best I've so far out of all the different ones of him. You did an excellent job being on the same page as him and understanding where he was going with his concepts. Bravo!

    Poverty of intentions more accurately describes the three frogs on a log parable. Three frogs are on a log. One decides to jump into the water. How many frogs are still on the log? Three. The frog only DECIDED (intended) to jump. It still has to take the action. Your intentions will not put $ in the bank.

    In a massive coincidence I checked my ko-fi (a creator donation site) half way through this video to find out that I made my first ever money from art, a 21$ donation from someone who's enjoyed using a game mod i created. I've been working day in and day out on my projects and the natural progression of "Becoming what you do" is feeling very real to me atm, both in that newest monetary reward but also that i'm clearly becoming more skilled as I force myself to keep working despite my doubt and fear of judgement.
    I think it's been good practice to keep a thorough record of my works so when i think "I'm rotten at this" i can look back and i see that, no, that past me was really rotten, i'm better then rotten now, and based on the record i'll get better if i keep the grind up and stop wasting time busting my own balls.
    I'd love it see more creativity focused interviews with artist professionals.

      @NoFunNoHope Před 3 lety

      I don't even search for "how to do art for a living" videos to watch all the time, i just normally watch your videos when i see a new one. It's an actual big coincidence.

    Great content but I had to adjust the volume EVERY time the host spoke because his volume in my phone is twice as loud as the guest! If it was any other guest, I would’ve clicked off in the first few minutes. You can level the audio with one click of a button in any editing app now so I just wonder why talk hosts do this leaving their voices so much louder than the guest.

  • @ayobamidele

    Good Stuff, I've read The Practice several times it's a real dose of realism. Seth says things like "none of us are probably as good as we think we are" and "if you're an artist you have no right to expect that anyone at all will appreciate your art". At first I thought this was so different to what people like life coach Tony Robbins and all the "what the mind of man can conceive it can achieve" gurus say. But actually the more I read the Practice I realised the similarities between Tony's and Seth's messages. Tony says "if what you're doing isn't working change" and that "success leaves clues", copy what other successful people do long enough and well enough and you too will be successful. IE become what Seth calls a Hack, a Hack simply serves the market and gives people what they want. True artists have to make peace with the fact that their art may only be seen as inspirational by a small select group or even no one at all. Unfortunately, many artists from Nick Drake to Vincent Van Goth weren't appreciated in their lifetime and they lead unhappy lives as a result. Thanks for the interview I always have time to listen to Seth. New subscriber here.

    Parties don't have to suck just because there is no alcohol. I went to clubs when I was younger and I could drink or not drink; it didn't matter. I did a lot of dancing and socializing. You might just need to re-educate people about how to enjoy each other's company, and how to be entertained.

    I have to laugh sometimes at the things people say on these videos. A lot of it seems disproportionately personal. I have quoted Seth. Didn't know who he was. I have spoken at length using language I got from Jordan Peterson also. I don't have the education you gentleman have. I was able to quote the things you said because the day I watched that video I remembered making similar arguments 25 years ago. I do very much take pleasure from learning things independently. It makes me feel pretty good that a man like Jordan Peterson has done research that make those thought's credible. Here is what I have to say about the theory kids shouldn't have to remember information. You are joking right. If I hadn't already known many of the facts I couldn't have remembered every thing you said to be able to quote you. There is something to be said about keywords. Having a bank of knowledge is useful. So you know what to look up on google. And so when educated men give credence to the thoughts of cretins they don't have to feel so small for a moment.
