This group was my introduction to Japanese rock (thanks to my grand daughter) about 30 years ago.
Now, my great grand daughter has to put up with 'pa-pa rock' from this group when she comes to visit.
Pay attention. These youngsters are Band Maid's grandpas musically, and they along with their grand kids are changing the music world.

These guys have more than 20 albums in their catalog and have never toured outside Japan. They will be touring Europe for the first time starting in February. I think they consider themselves as a doom metal group. They have just released a new album to celebrate their 30 year career. They even have videos reacting to their own MV's. They seem like guys with a sense of humor.

      @SantomPh Před 4 lety +8

@@ramair3judge it is an old metal genre inspired by early Sabbath songs. However Ningen Isu don't really cover that territory as a lot of their songs are about old pop literature (the Shinjuku Suicides) and Meiji era/Shinto/Zen themes (the Great Destroyer of the Universe). This song is actually about asking the various dieties of Japanese history to bless them in their career. The entire verse done (ironically) in the dark is about asking the gods to shine on them.

@@SantomPh But that is absolutly Doom Metal. ;)
Doom Metal today is hugly mistaken as being slow and whatnot but actually is more about personal emotions and lamenting on the world. "Saint Vitus" songs "White Stallions" or "War is our Destiny" are good examples for what Doom Metal is really about. Also Candlemass. And most Doon bands are somehow Rock bands. Ningen Isu easily fits in the genre but no need to push them in. :)

After 30 years, it's about time these guys got recognition! Their TV appearance in 1989 was amazing. The bass player, Suzuki Kenichi, has some amazing facial expressions and I love his voice. He writes the music and the guitar player, Wajima Shinji, writes the lyrics (for most of their song anyway). Wajima is a great guitarist and he has some videos on CZcams showing how to play. The drummer, Nakajima Nobu, is their third and has been with them since 2004. I loved their first album from 1989 and they have gotten better since then. Maybe the most amazing part about them is that they have persevered for all those years.

This song works me over. It's heavy to the point of being haunted. These guys obviously have some life experience, so you'd think that they should have it figured out, but in the lyrics they are asking to every god they can think of for just a brief reprieve from lifetime of failure and disappointment. During the bridge, they talk about how everyone has hopes and dreams... The fact that they are still alive suggests that even hardship is worth enduring, and the fact that none of the gods have answered suggested that we as humans must be the source of mercy. We have to care for each other and provide for each other.
Your reaction was excellent. Subscribing, and hoping that you'll introduce me to more amazing music.

Hagane (Formed in 2019 featuring two of the youngest gunslingers around, Sakura & Mayto.)
Bridear (Another veteran group, formed in 2011. Already toured Europe 5 times and another tour scheduled for fall 2022)
Hanabie (I'm not gonna say anything about this group other than DROP WHATEVER YOU'RE DOING AND GO CHECK THEM OUT RIGHT NOW!)
D_Drive (Instrumental hard rock/heavy metal. Everyone in this band is a virtuoso.)
    Asterism (Read "D_Drive".)
Ark Royal (Young band formed 4 years ago. Picking up fans by the minute!)
Unlucky Morpheus (Another veteran group. Should be headlining european festivals a long time ago!)
Galneryus (Power metal freaks! Think Dragonforce but better.)
Gone but not forgotten (no longer active):
    Destrose
    Mary's Blood
    Telecide
The Classics (all of these bands were formed in the 80's and are still kicking ass!):
    X-Japan
    Show-ya
    Loudness
    Anthem
    Sabbat
...and that is just the start!

All done tongue in cheek. Kanami won the first round and lost the second round setting up the deciding face-off. What l see in this parody is that a great guitar player who has been in the same band for 30 years is tied with a young lady who has been in her band less than seven and she is already on the same level as one who might have been her teacher. Think about that for a second. In the faux battle both seem to be enjoying themselves and l would say if they weren't friends they certainly were friendly with each other.

Should've turned on the captions, they have the English lyrics (properly translated, not just auto-translated. They were added recently). And the lyrics are good, they should be appreciated. Also, just to let you know, "scat" refers to scat singing, which is when you sing nonsense vocals as part of the music ("shabadabadia" in this case)

If you really wanna dive dip on Japanese metal, try Anthem - Evil One/Bound to Break/Eternal Warrior. Really like how the alternate from JP and ENG lyrics in their songs while also a beast band live.

Japan has been making killer metal as long as I can remember... (which is really only Loudness and EZO), but IMO, what I've had the honor of hearing is on par with bands from most other countries. Check out Sigh (Doom/Death), Gonin-Ish(Progressive/Death), Asterism(Thrash/Shred by 3 teenagers)....so many great bands... Peace! Cheers!!!
