Ryan Green freal?
@@bryanrodriguez5122 Yep!
I much appreciate your assessment, near the end of your clip, of the 90D's image quality! This crucial information adds to an already excellent video review. Nice work!
Instablaster...
Love the image qualify & details from 90D 32.5MP APS-C sensor. Imagine the details from the future full frame 85MP from this sensor technology! Wow!
Love the AF selection joy stick too!
great video, you were the FIRST to show off the DR and ISO capabilities... being able to shoot 6400 is LIGHT YRS ahead of my 70D. I already knew i was buying this, but you guys helped me solidify that.
Awesome! Thanks
Wow, guys, your videos are so cinematic, really a pleasure to watch...
Means the world! Thanks Dion!!!
@@learningcameras Great Initial Review, The best in CZcams so far. Was it all recorded on 90D/M6 II, if so how does it look so cinematic without 24p ?
Yep! All recorded on the 90D/M6 except us talking which was the Nikon Z6. I edit on a 24p timeline and Adobe does a pretty good job of mixing different frame rates without issue. A few of the 30p clips I would also transform to 24p which slowed them down just slightly but then matched the correct frame rate
Thanks for the honest review guys! I think I will stick with my 80D though, the 90D specs were a disappointment. :( Love your work and your videos. Definitely joining your Facebook group too!
Thank you so much Kirsten!!! Yeah, I probably wouldn't upgrade from the 80D to the 90D unless there was some issue you were having with the 80D
@@learningcameras Issues with the 80D, no. But as a wildlife photographer, the upgrades are def worth moving to the 90D. The 80D is a fine camera for many things, and I've enjoyed it. But the 90D is going to be a huge upgrade for this wildlife shooter.
I just bought it!!! Freakin awesome that'll ramp up my channel quality!
Great content upload. Would you truly recommend this over the 80D or even another Canon machine for my first as a content creator?
It's actually a pretty big update from the 80D especially with live view shooting or video but even the base image quality is much better. It's honestly hard to go wrong with the 90D right now especially if you already own Canon lenses
@@learningcameras Thanks Dan
I’ll keep my 80D. And if I switch it won’t be a Canon
By the way guys, you have the best video footage I’ve scene from all of those who were invited that day at the track. 👍
wowowow! I love it! I cannot wait to do an unboxing of the 90D on my channel!
great video and review! looking to upgrade, and this is looking like the one for me
Great channel Dan . I want to upgrade from a Canon Powershot SX60HS . Was thinking 90D but reading comments not sure now ! Sounds like Sony of others better for a similar price ? Should I stay with canon or change brand . As I had a compact camera Id need to buy lenses too , should I go to Mirrorless ? Any advice greatly appreciated . Im so confused !
Currently shooting with a T6i and am looking to upgrade. I honestly don’t care at all about video. I think this would be a great photography upgrade for me. But I’m also considering the 6D M2. Will decide soon.
Can someone please force Canon to explain why they're leaving out 24p? It's as if they're actively trying to NOT sell cameras.
Official Canon specs says it can do 24p in All-I. It's on the Canon USA website now.
It is a photo camera for fucks sake, if you want 24p full 4K then pay £33,000 and get the top Canon cine camara, for less than $2000 what do you expect, come on wake up
Bernard Mannas i hope ur being ironic my friend
@@bern047 Ha ha ha! So much anger. Fujifilm XT3 gave me 24, 60 and 120 FPS and best of all... F-log! and it's only $1,400. Beat that canon! And oh, for photography it's perfect too ha ha! :)
@@DNGMaestro I have Canon EOS M woith Magic Lantern Danne build, 4K and raw video for £100 so there
sir is there any difference in 4k video quality shot by 90d (crop sensor) and 5d mark iv (full frame) or it just a matter of frame size ? Please sir...Im in great confusion ? #CaravanMovies
Looks really promising for the upcoming +80Mpx release from Canon.
Great review. At the 9:10 mark I see the HDMI info display showing 4K clean output. Does it really allow 4K external recording?
Yep!
Awesome review, thank you for uploading! a lot of useful tips and insight to the menu. I also found Canon Live Chat helpful for some customers controls in the camera.
Awesome, thank you!
What? There is Focus Peaking for MF? Is it good? Does the clean HDMi output works? The message said “not available, is it only the wireless the communication that becomes unavailable”?
I think all you need is decent camera like 77D to start with and just have good editing software that allows you ad luts
can u please make a side by side comparison in 4k and fhd with sony 6600. and also low light performance
How do you think the 8bit video of the Canon 90D compares to the 8bit of the GH5 / G9 / G85?
Great hands on review! My 80D has difficulty supporting my 70-200 2.8 ISii. The plastic construction and mount allow the camera to flex. I read in a spec sheet that the 90D has added an aluminum alloy to its construction of its body. Although it is lighter, is the 90D and its mount more rigid for heavy lenses?
The 90D definitely does have Magnesium Alloy which will give it a bit more strength so you should be better off now
Can they by any means make an upgrade of 24fps in their next firmware release?
that would be a great deal, never the less the 90D is a great camera, I do love the new specs and build quality. Thanks to you guys! I appreciate the review.
thank you guys..very good review...I think I'm gonna stick to my 80D... not impressed at all
Thanks! Yeah, it's a tough upgrade unless you really want the speed, live view AF or 4k
It looks like a good upgrade to me. I guess it depends on what you shoot.
@@rayhawk9432 Most people buy a DSLR for photography. It's a nice step up as far as I'm concerned.
@stupidfresh305 from 70d to 90d that's a huge improvement,but not from 80d IMO...thanks anyway Mr.Stupid Fresh
@stupidfresh305 no not for the moment ..bit if I'm to change I'll go for full frame definetly
Thanks for this review. Did you have the opportunity to test the dynamic range?
Hello Luis, If you watch through right to the end, Dan's ladyfriend (sorry, didn't catch name) gives a good general assessment of dynamic range, without name it as such. She explains that the 90D is excellent for recovering detail from shadows, and maintains good image quality at higher ISO's. She concludes that the 90D has the best image quality of any APSC DSLR on the market now.
neild108 thanks. I checked the files Jared Polónio made available. They seem good, but I’m not blown away. Maybe I’m wrong, but my X-T2 seems to perform better in that regard. Let’s hope someone makes a good comparison!
@@zeluisbelo so is the XT3 better than the 90d?
Kind of. Yeah, my wife Sally talked about it a bit. No advanced testing but we pushed shadows and found no issues with banding or anything else. I would still rank it behind Nikon/Sony but still plenty good enough in the real world
@@learningcameras, good to hear that. Thanks.
Hello- I found out that with the 80d I can timelapse at 1 second intervals but the 90d will only allow a minimum of 2 seconds. I can set to 1 second but it reverts to 2 seconds when trying to save.
Hi Dan, Can you tell us if these cameras actually shoot true 4k? Or, is the 4k upsampled from a lower resolution? Thank you.
It seems like they are pixel binning which throws away unused pixels as opposed to Sony or Panasonic that either over sample or have a full sensor read out which is much higher quality
Would you like to make a detailed video in shadow recovery comparison to 80D?
Thank you for the review, I’m looking into buying this but i keep going back and forth with the gh5.
Undecided.
I mean the GH5 is way better for video. I actually sold mine a few years ago but only because I wanted a single camera for photo/video and the GH5 wasn't amazing for stills compared to some of the other options
the gh5 is so much better if your doing video, its not even a question.
Keep in mind AF on the GH5 is garbage. If you need to rely on AF then the 90D is a better choice. Sensor is larger on the 90D as well, so less crop.
Nice overview, Dan & Sally. I think it's a better upgrade (from the 80D) than I was expecting. It seems a more rounded camera now and I like the higher megapixels too.
Hi . Nice Channel ! One Question about far subjects and cropping to zoom the final image : It is better to have a full frame 24Mpixels body or the 90D Aps-c 32Mpixels body (JUST for image final quality ) ? Thanks ^^
If you are cropping both, then a full frame is better. If you are cropping the full frame but not the APSC, than essentially they are about even
Awesome video !!
Very nice video! Can you upload the RAW and video files so we can download them?
Would you be able to do a companion review with testing the 90D with the Sigma 18-35 and possibly the 50-100? I started out in the Canon family and eventually moved to Sony, but I really do miss the articulating screens.
I used those lenses with the 80D in a video a while back. On this trip, we tried out the Tamron 35-150 F2.8-4 VC with awesome results on the 90D
@@learningcameras, besides image quality which I expect good, how about AF issues with third party lenses?
Planning to buy 7D Mii for wild life photography. Now I confused 7D Mii or 90D. Which one is better for my need. Pls advise..
if it's just wildlife, then certainly 7d m2
Please answer - Does Canon 90D offer 24 fps video if we change 'Video System' in Menu from PAL to NTSC ?
indeed good question
Nop
They are adding a firmware update which will allow 24fps by the end of October for the 90d
An update is coming this month which will add 24p. Canon's official Twitter account just replied to my dm.
How good is this camera for shooting astrophotos or low light?
would you recommend it as a backup body for weddings? my R crapped out and need a cheaper replacement. my main camera is R6 and I only use EF L glass
Do you shoot video or photos? For photos, I'd consider the R8 as a back up and the R7 as a video backup so start transitioning into RF. If you get a dslr, make sure you buy it used. No point in paying new prices for 4 year old tech
I will buy this camera
Hope you enjoy it man
I just bought this camera for my birthday for $1200 it's a great camera in my opinion. to hear you say beginner camera and for price range makes me feel ike I didn't make a good purchase into stepping into a professional career. Bestbuy cam pro advised this was more professional from my t6 i upgraded from. Dropping 3 to 6k on a camera is really unforseeable for me rt now. But i want to pursue this passion. I hope my 90d gets me there. Good video. Even though it dosent sound like yall like it much. But appreciate the insight.
So I do like this camera but it has a few too many restrictions for me to say it is getting into pro level. Definitely a good T6 step up though. Canon just hasn't done much with their cameras under $2000 that has been all that impressive since Canon 7DII. Still a good camera though
Dan/Sally, are you going to the Sony press event tomorrow? If there was a choice involved, I think going to the Sony event is the way better choice. Thanks.
I guess you will find out really soon lol
Very nice video thumbs up
Please make a comparison video between Canon 90D and 6D Mark II. Which is a better deal in terms of what they offer at their respective price?
Tried to clear that up in this video: czcams.com/video/bTPrifZmFr8/video.html
90D is better.
Thanks for your reply
Hey Dan, I'm looking for your help guide and presets with the Nikon z6. When will that be available?
It will be available soon but we are doing it on an on camera basis. In my experience it's tough and not ideal to have the same preset for different cameras and better to have 2. Plus most people only own 1 brand so no need to have presets tested on 5 brands of camera. My thoughts anyway lol
Hey guys question, can I use a monitor with this camera and still record in the camera, can it do it with clean or unclean out, I'm curious b4 I buy, plz help, I cannot find a forum on this.
worth to change from my existing 70D?
Worth it to upgrade from T5i? I mainly shoot sports, portraits, animals, landscape and want to possibly get into astro... Budget is like 1,000-1,500. Mostly care about pictures but do want some video capabilities as well. Have been going back and fourth from different cameras, Fujifilm, Sony, 80/90D, mirrorless, etc and not sure which to go with.
Makaveli Disciple Definitely an upgrade especially for sports and astro because of the low light specs + high shutter speed ability. The EOS R is a little high for your budget. I’d get the 90D
Continuous recording or no?
What's the cut off?
V good video, plz advice me best camera for wedding videography under 1500$ without overheating, used or new one, plz reply.
Most cameras at this price will overheat. There is a massive sale though on the Panasonic S5II and this would be the closest to that price: bhpho.to/3TfSDab
It's an amazing camera and it has an active fan but those are features that you won't find under $1500 without looking at some older cameras
This video is just riddled with good lookin’ ladies. Thank you!
Hey Tammy, you are everywhere :)) what do you think about 90d? :)
Haha. Yes, l am. I’m trying to figure out if I should maybe upgrade to the 90 but I don’t like 30 FPS, I really prefer 24. I might just trade in all my gear and go to a Sony a6400. I also have been looking at Fuji videos. Are you thinking 90D?
Tammy Sypniewski the most I like canon for their amazing dual pixel focus technology and for the easy settings menu. They are easy cameras to work with.
But I need something like 4K 60fps, with APS-C, so I am thinking to fujifilm x-t3.
Including those leaving comments. 😉
man, the intro clip makes me wanna sell my house and start tuning up my car! tbh, if you can film and edit that on a press event, you'll be fine with either camera. canon 90d? why not. you name it...
hahaha. Awesome!!! So that's kinda the point of these intros. Everyone likes to camera bash so we basically spend the first 30 seconds of the video showing what we can do with it in just a few hours. Even with a few limitations I think we pulled off some awesome stuff!
Hi - thanks for the video. Does this camera support GPS? I have a 77D and am very happy with it so far but miss the fact it does not support it.
Not in the camera, but you can use the app to connect to a phone and use the GPS from that.
So if I have the T7i, is the 90D or M6 mkii an upgrade worth investing in now? Or should I wait for something even better in 2020. I'm more a hobbyist, but I want get better than snapshot photos.
I honestly don't think we will see another Canon camera better than this under $1500 for at least 2 years so unless you are willing to switch brands, take the 90d. However the T7i is already great so I wouldn't switch unless you needed extra speed, controls, or build quality
Not too worried about the price point, but this gives me a chance to really work out my amateurishness weed with the 7i. Then I think I'll be looking for move up into FF or even mirrorless. Thanks for the info.
I am stuck between getting this camera and the eos rp. I know these are two different cameras, but this will be my first serious camera. Any suggestions?
I would lean towards the 90D at this point. The EOS RP is full frame which is nice but getting wide aperture RF lenses to take advantage of that is going to be extremely expensive or require an adapter. Plus, the RP sensor is not all that great for full frame while the 90D has an amazing new APSC sensor so the differences in quality are minimal. The 90D is definitely better for video
So for a new photographer, would you recommend me to go ahead and buy this or stick with an 80D?
I mean it's better but the differences are minimal in most areas so I wouldn't upgrade unless you are unhappy with your 80d in some way and think the 90D will make things better
Dan Watson Thanks bro
This new release is awesome.... because it means the 80D price will drop and I will probably buy one instead of the 90D in the next few weeks to replace my canon SL1
i currently use an SL2 for my channel but within the next week i have to replaced . thinking of the 80D as an upgrade too
I’m selling my 80d with both kit lense for 800
Just sold my 80D. Upgrading to the 90D. But you'll enjoy the 80D over the SL1 quite a lot!
Hello dan , did you use the 90d for shooting this video ? Thanks
Almost all the video in this was shot with the 90D (a couple clips were from the m6II) except us talking which was the Nikon Z6
Hi Dan and Sally does this camera focus down to _ 3EV for us low light street shooters ? Thanks from Chicago
Hey! I actually think it's -4EV. Sally is actually right by Chicago right now visiting some fam!
@@learningcameras Good for Ms Watson God bless you both i've been shooting with my good old Canon 70D ....My new 2 camera system will be the Canon 5DMK4 and the New Canon 90D. FF and a crop I can't go wrong . Your channel is awesome Dan i've been watching you guys for years.....Tracy webb from Lincoln Park Chicago a Canon shooter for life .....Peace bro
Hi Dan, I'm planing to buy canon 90D, will it be worth buying in 2022?
Kindof. It's still a great camera but I would only buy it on a big sale or used. The world is moving to mirrorless which has big advantages especially for autofocus and video that the 90D won't have and all new lenses will be RF mirrorless lenses which don't work on the 90D. So something like the Canon R7 would be a much better investment long term especially if you shoot video. But if you are buying it used with some used EF lenses, it might be worth it since you will save some $ on the purchase. But I do expect it to depreciate pretty quickly
Would you guys recommend the 90D over the Fujifilm XT-30?
So I prefer the 90D if you are using the camera for more than just a family picture taking device because EF lenses can be used with other cameras and Canon offers an upgrade path if you want to go pro. It also has better options for sports/wildlife lenses. But as a casual camera, the XT-30 is awesome, smaller, and has great inexpensive lenses
Hi Any Link to download some RAW files to look at ?
Excellent unboxing. Which camera have you used to shoot this video?
The video was all shot with the 90D except a couple clips from the EOS M6 II. The part of us talking is the Nikon Z6
@@learningcameras Thanks a lot. Which type of view finder ( optional or electronic) is there in canon 90D ?
The 90D is an optical viewfinder
@@learningcameras Thanks.
How important and bad does the absent of 24fps is? Does it make the 120fps slow mo won't work because it's 5 times slower? Or is it just pure personal preference? Noob here.. thanks if answered ✌️ #askingtherealquestion #notbeingsarcastic
if you just shoot for youtube and vlog.. most viewer dont care or noticed too much. but if you are a wedding photograpers and video shooters.. maybe it will matter.
This camera recomand for wedding photography
would you be able to share with me a raw clip shot with the 90D?(Email, dropbox, drive, etc)
a clip with high iso(800 or more) i wanna check the quality before buying
pair it up with the sigma 18-35 and 50-100
I do not need box of 80D! I already have it! I need 2019 of 90D!
How do you like shooting with the 70/200 f2.8 on the 90d ?
For wildlife and sports it's awesome to have the extra reach. It's a bit long for portraits though with the 90D and 70-200
Omg I hv been waiting so long now there no 24 frames not even in 1080p smh I'm not going to but the 90d I going for the 80d.
They're going to update the firmware this month which adds 24p both for 4k and 1080p
Hello! Does canon 90D have a micro adjustment option?
Yes
Nice video but I notice a bunch of reviewers say "in this price range" but I didn't hear anyone say what's the price? Maybe I missed it not sure so what's the price?
1.2k
@@MichaelPari Not bad price but many ways you can go in that range. Thanks
Yeah, they actually didn't tell us the price until the day before the launch so we didn't have it when we recorded. We knew what it would probably be but didn't mention it just in case. I think the price is about right for what you get
@@learningcameras Thanks and I think you're correct pricing seems about right. So I guess the consumer has to choose. Do you want mirrorless but different primary mount. Or would you buck the trend for the primary mount with the most lenses. I'm a Nikon shooter but prefer APSC. I hope one day Nikon makes a mirrorless APSC. Until then I'll stick to my D500 for shooting surf on Oahu' North Shore
is it worth upgrading from the Canon 80D?
I'd say nah, I'd wait for a better mirrorless aspc camera instead from Canon. I have an 80d and this would only be a Megapixel upgrade for me, not worth getting imo.
Yea as i saw more reviews your right its not worth upgrading for those changes they made
@@PhoenixIDGroup 80d is still a great camera, I use mine for stills and time lapses, so it's perfect. The 90d camera would be a lot better for bigger prints and better in general for moving subjects because of the higher fps, but tbh wait for an even better one. I always wait 5 to 7 years before getting any upgrades
in my opinion, it's better to stick with the 80D, wait a year or two, then upgrade to the new Canon double digit camera.
90D or 6d mark2?
Is 90d comes with AA filter?
Or this time they dropped it..
the crop mpde should, if they are doing full sensor read-out
They didn't mention dropping it so I would assume it still has it
Ok we have to weight for the review of sharpness and high iso performance..
The Canon 90D does 24fps. Just update the firmware to the 1.1.1 update on Canon website and you have it.
Yep, they just announced the change likely because of reviews like this making a big deal of the lack of 24p
I may be worth getting for me with clean hdmi out.
Is it shoot all-i format or ipb
Hi guys what is the rolling shutter like in 4k full sensor recording
I didn't test it specifically but I really didn't notice it so it seems to be fairly well controlled
Dan Watson whats name music intro video?
is the AF system better than D500?
I really like the 3D tracking the D500 does and slightly prefer it to Canon's system however the D500 is useless in live view compared to the 90D so it just depends
Great review, and great footage (I think proving it’s not just about the camera!)...however, as an 80D owner, and looking for my next camera I’m still really torn on sticking with Canon or taking a big hit and jumping to Nikon or Sony. Who would’ve thought back in 2016 that Canon wouldn’t get their act together and keep building competitive cameras?? Now I’m torn between the EOS R - that has it’s own list of shortcomings (slow burst rate and cropped 4K are biggest issues to me), and 90D that’s now removed all the 24fps from video, and still doesn’t appear to offer focus peaking or zebras, and no extra AF points (you’d think they’d up it to the 65 from the 7DII that’s how old??). Darn...if it wasn’t for just liking how the Canon feels in my hand, I would’ve jumped to Sony several years ago.
Yeah, I feel you
Why not wait to see if they will make a "pro" EOS? Then decide then :).
Anything changed as far as connectivity to phones and tablets? 80d only really had unreliable WiFi, no Bluetooth. Honestly, I found that very limiting.
Yes, they say the connection is now better and faster. We couldn't test it though since turning on wifi would have broadcast the camera name
IS there a clean output for streaming?
There is actually
At this point it wouldn't surprise me if Canon announced they will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store 😂😂😂 (too soon?)
I’ll stick with my 7D mk2 thanks.
What about dual pixel autofocus in 4k?
Works perfectly FINALLY
Will it let you shoot 24 fps in 1920x1080?
It'll, with a firmware update this month!
Canon have added 4K 24fps in a firmware up date.
So the 4K does support DPAF?
Yep! Everything except 120p slow motion supports dual pixel AF
omg no audio at 120fps.. what even Canon.. almost the perfect camera with ur flippy outy vlogger dream screen..
I am glad that canon didn't take away the shutter button instead of 24fps. I am waiting for the day when canon will go like we announced this amazing camera but for some unknown reason there will be no shutter button.
No AF in 120fps is a deal breaker for me.
Same, I preordered and then found this out... I think I'm going to cancel it :L
Agreed. I had planned between upgrading my 80d to the 90d for the 120fps. Looks like I'm going to be getting the A6500 instead
@stupidfresh305 Lmao dude, chill out. Why do you care what someone prefers to use so much? Go spout your Canon fanboy crap to someone else. No reason to get the 90D when a6500 has better features and is cheaper used/
stupidfresh305 is your caps lock broken or something lol
stupidfresh305 yOu DoNt KnOw HoW tO fOcUs?
Lol you sound like a delusional fanboy. The camera should’ve had autofocus at 120fps. Periodt.
Please update: Firmware 1.1.1 is downloadable to add 24p in HD and 4K. Done this and all is well in the video realm.
I think the 90D is too late..
I'm going to buy the EOS R for $1500 plus the $100 adapter
They crippled the 90D too much in video. I want the 24fps.. so they f'd themselves..
Will it take great pictures? Definitely..
if I started doing more sports stuff I'd consider it. I really can't say anything bad about it when it comes to taking pictures. I'm even confident that I'd enjoy using it.
Though if I wanted a second cam.. I'd buy another EOS R.. Because they are such a solid price for what you get.
What's the maximum length for videos?
30 minutes
Host Hair Wars!
Hahaha
Does it have any time-lapse features?
Sure does
@@learningcameras In 4k? and thanks!
Well, it has the intervalometer but I didn't check to see if it will create a movie in camera and I actually doubt it would be 4k knowing Canon
Smart to upgrade to a 90D from a Rebel T6?
Yep, probably a good bet. Huge autofocus upgrade, build upgrade, 2 sensor upgrades, and a big video upgrade.
Might not be a bad idea to test out the M6 Mark II when it comes out before testing a 90D. See if what the M6 Mark II lacks compared to the 90D actually matters to you or not.
I'm currently using t6, going to upgrade to the 90D. And canon confirmed they'll add 24p via firmware update so this is going to be a huge upgrade!
Is 90d good for short films and self tapes??
One of the best in that price range but also look at some sale prices or a used GH5
Dan Watson it’s way better than the 90d?? Because I only want it for long or short videos!
@@ivavon7122 it has some more advanced video features like unlimited recording, flat picture profiles...things like that. It's also a little better quality in good light. But the 90D is still great just more of a hybrid video/photo camera. The 90D is easier to use though and has way better autofocus and is a better photography camera!
