- Tonight, the Penguins took on Nathan MacKinnon and the undefeated Colorado Avalanche. Reilly Smith wasted no time getting the Penguins on the board by ripping a wrist shot from between the hashmarks just under five minutes into the opening period. Smith and Evgeni Malkin continued their strong play together, with Malkin setting up Smith on a 2-on-1 opportunity later in the same period. In the 2nd period, Lars Eller notched his first goal for the Penguins exactly six minutes in. The final regulation period saw captain Sidney Crosby score his fourth of the season after Jake Guentzel created a turnover in the offensive zone. The captain now has seven points (4G-3A) through seven games so far this season. Goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped all 30 shots he faced, earning his second shutout of the season.

Best complete game I've seen them play in quite some time.
Same. I'm relieved to see that they still have what it takes.
Agreed. Couldn't believe the performance from all lines. That's what they need to do most games. Jarry proved he can still be an Allstar Goalie as well. Nice to see
Now it just needs to happen more often than not.
Riley Smith is going to become a fan favorite and I think Geno found himself someone he truly loves playing with. Haven't seen geno this motivated since neal
The Chemistry with Malkin and Smith. 🔥
This was a perfect full 60 minute game for us. Very little error and to shutout a team with high scoring potential is immaculate for Jarry. If we keep playing like this we should slide smooth into a playoff position.
That’s probably the best game I’ve ever seen from Jarry. Nice win, all they need now is consistency.
This right here is team play it’s time to turn the season around!
Good win
Feels so good to see Jarry play well and of course number 87 getting one to add to his amazing career
Jarry is a very good tender. He just often lack defensive support and people blame him.
Zahorna really had a nice impact for that third line. Love to see it!
Best game pens have played in the last 2 seasons. Now hopefully they can string a few wins together
This is what I’d love to see more of from the pens. We’re just so inconsistent that I can’t expect this at every game. But I hope I can be proven wrong because I’d love to see us go all the way this year.
Wow! Malkin is on fire, I'd he does this all season...look out!
Big Drew O'Connor fan. When I was at the Pens, he was always chill and its good to see him slowly make more of an impact with good passing and that steal even if no goal came from it.
Reilly Smith is a beast.
Big win boys!! That’s the penguins I know keep playing like that and the cup is yours
I could weep for joy, wow. Wowww. Avs were on a helluva streak, too.
Jarry was making that Swiss-cheese defense look good. Avs made
a lot of mistakes that the Pens made good on, instead of the other
way around. Let's see more goals with less mental mistakes on
both sides of the puck.
Zohorna, Eller, and O'Connor look dangerous too 😈
Tons of praise for the entire team performance last night. PLLLLLEEEEEASEE bring more of this each night!
I've been a little tough on Jarry the last few seasons...I have to admit , he down right IMPRESSED me this game !! Pens looked great all-around and Jarry deserves the shut-out...well played !!
Let's go!!!!
Great game pens keep it up pens don't give up pens let's go pens 🖤💛🐧 that is how you play smart hockey pens 💪🏻🐧🖤💛 and stay strong pens and stays groove and the rhythm pens 💪🏻🐧🖤💛
Now that was a great game.
Really good play from penguins
You hear that? That's the sound of haters everywhere NOT complaining about Jarry!
I think Jarry trained in his spare time Go Pens! 🐧
Jarry has always been good. It has always been the defense that has caused the issues. He can't stop everything...
Needed this one. Great win.
I am still learning about the game.... This seems like perfect plays by Penguins...
The penguins could surprise a lot of teams as they made some nice acquisitions during the off season.
This is the way.
Hooray and about time...now Oswald Cobblepot is overjoy
Лучшие!🎉❤
Pens unpredictable as the Steelers
i hope they grow on this and dont start patting themselves on the back. save that for june.
"wE nEEd A GoALiE!!!!" Shut up, we got one.
Let's go Jarry just we beat the caps
the problem with the Pens play one excellent game ,and then lose the next one
Good win
THATS MORE LIKE IT!!!
Classic pens. Lose to the bad teams, win 4-0 to the team thats 6-0-0.
❤❤😊😊
Fire Canada. Hahaha
Those ads on their helmets keeps getting larger, imagine that.
No way we win against the Best teams And take the biggest Ls from everyone else
Like the Steelers
Nice I'm wondering will see some of these clips in patmacafee hockey is awesome segment hr does on his podcast this year since he's a home grown Pittsburgh Penguins fan and since join ESPN can show clips
doink
Who was the color commentator? He pronounced Malkin wrong lmao
What’s the time stamp of this 🤣
@@MrNeilgoetze i think it was after Smiths second goal like 1:45, but he did it more in the broadcast.
He said “Mail-kin” instead of “Maul-kin”. Never thought I’d say this but I miss Bob Errey.
Malkins former winger, Mike Rupp.
i dont see this as a win.. an improvment maybe. i still dont know about these lines
I hear ya, but come on, they just beat the undefeated Avs. Huge win.
