    I review the Convoy S6 with CSLNM1.TG - this is a hidden gem that I can't believe I missed out on. It's the perfect budget tactical thrower, and anyone can get one! It's basically a better-looking, throwier version of the S2+. Find out why this is my new favorite budget thrower in my video.

    Convoy S6 NM1 Transcript
    General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • I've been searching for the 'best' budget tactical thrower with high candela, and I think I may have found the one! This is the S6 - it's a little-known Convoy host that has a deep reflector and clean design that costs less than your lunch. After trying out many different flashlights, I find that I prefer carrying around ones like this that are the same diameter all the way through. More comfortable.
    • What comes in the box: lanyard, battery (if purchased with the light), the light
    • Size comparison with S2+, FC12, PD35R, Warrior Mini 3
    Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
    • I love the clean and minimalistic design. High-quality machining and electronics, especially at this price point. Checkered knurling increases grip, as the actual anodizing is quite smooth. Some small cutouts on the battery tube, and areas to attach a clip. Single switch on tailcap (reverse clicky).
    • This one comes with an NM1. You should get this one if you're looking for maximum candela. You can also get one with an SFT40. LED is perfectly centered. The reflector is almost twice as long as the one in the S2+. Simple bezel, smooth, no crenulation. You can access the LED easily by unscrewing the pill. As usual with Convoy, you can mod your lights easily.
    • There are two beefy-looking springs under the head and on the tailcap - great for absorbing impact.
    UI - modes
    • 12 groups. I have the 5-mode grouping (0.1, 1, 10, 35, 100%). You can set it to 100% mode only and use this as a 'tactical' mode. You can also deactivate memory mode too. This is handy if you want the light to always start in the first mode. Reverse clicky - press completely to switch on. Half-press to cycle between modes.
    Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • CCT, CRI, Ceiling bounce test
    • Intense hotspot with usable spill. Up close on a white wall, there are some small artefacts but the hotspot is still round and powerful - you don't notice this at all after 20-50m.
    Considerations
    • No onboard charging. Would be nice if Convoy included a clip (preferably deep carry).
    • Reduced output due to the NM1 emitter.
    • Gets hot after prolonged use at 100%.
    • Other than that, I can't think of any other considerations - you get so much value at this price point.
    Verdict
    • This is hands down my favorite budget pocket thrower. It's so affordable, that almost anyone can have one. I love the clean design and the wow factor you get when using this light long distance. It's hard to believe a light of this size can throw nearly 500m. In terms of candela, it outperforms all of my other tactical throwers of this size, even ones that are 10x more expensive. I'll leave the link to Simon's store below in the description if you want to get one. You can get this light for the lowest price there.

      It's almost perfect.. squeezing every bit of throw out of a smaller tube light. I wouldn't mind if Simon made a 21700 version with a larger version of this reflector.

    I would suggest asking Convoy for the 5A Buck driver now instead of the 5A Linear driver that's over-driving the NM1 to 5.7A. The Buck driver sustains a higher output which is nice. Using the Buck driver in a C8+ with SFT40 it holds at roughly 950 lumens which is amazing.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yeah I noticed this light gets pretty hot. We talked about this driver issue once awhile back. Man, I reckon a green PM1 could throw well over 500m in this host.

    • @PiercingTheDarkness
      @PiercingTheDarkness Před 8 měsíci

      @@DarrenYeoYT I measured the NM1 at 5.7A to only 395m and ended up eventually turning purple, I sell my stock with 3A drivers now to play it safe. Maybe pair the PM1 with the 8A Buck driver to see some decent numbers. A PM1 Green at 8A would be impressive too.
      Just testing the Wurkkos TD03 and man it's super disappointing on output. Uses stepdown timers at 30 sec and 2 min down to around 350 lumens where it remains. I feel like flying over there and giving the engineers a good kick! lol. Go review the Aplos T02 🙂

      @@PiercingTheDarknessyou sell the S6 as well? Would be. Good for your hunting demographic with that extra throw. Think there's also a green W1.
      Oh damn, I see some manufacturers are cutting costs lately. Wuben decreased the 30% off code I had to 20%. Those timer drivers could be catastrophic with higher powered emitters in hot climates. Continued reactivation of turbo..

    Great overview man. I usually stick with 14500 for EDC, but for work/tactical/wow factor purposes it’s a top contender for sure.

      Thanks mate, 18650 form factor is at the limit of what I find comfortable to carry.. these tube lights. But something like a reylight pineapple mini is also awesome.

    No on-board charging is a selling point for me! Less water and dirt ingress points.

      True. A good compromise is an 'under the bezel' unscrewable design too.

    Hello sir! Do you have info about how much lumens on 100%? I was ordered same, but different, S8+ with same CSNLM from mister Simon, and i was wondered how much lumen can provide.

    Salut à toi , belle vidéo comme d'habitude , dit moi , entre la version osram que tu présentes et la version en sft40 , sais-tu la portée des deux modèles ? pour la osram si je me trompes pas c'est 480 mètres environ à ce que j'ai vu dans ta vidéo , mais pour la sft40 pourrais tu me dire sa portée ? est ce moins que la version osram ? approximativement si tu peux me dire pour la version sft40 je t'en serais reconnaissant . Merci 👍
