The 2 biggest reasons why I am in love with this car- the quality is about as good as it gets and the color is gorgeous! Body off frame restored to concourse condition. Claimed to have 39,550 actual miles, California car. Only 1,217 Deluxe Holiday coupe 442s were made.
EXTERIOR: Far better than when it left the factory. The fit and finish is amazing. It is literally laser straight from the rockers to the roof. It's been painted about 15 years now and I did not find a blister, a crack, a chop or a scratch. Not even any shrinkage. The body gaps are precise, square and flush. Gorgeous factory color- Laurel Mist without a vinyl top. The metal flake is laid out evenly. It has a glass finish. There's one page that lists about $4,500 just in chrome plating. Plus there are new emblems, handles and vent window frames. There was also a lot of money spent on professionally polishing the stainless trim. It has correct reproduction T-3 headlights. The glass is all crystal clear and fits perfectly. The jambs are painted slick even up by the hinges. New window seals, weatherstrips and sill plates. The new SS-1 chrome wheels are beautiful. They have reproduction redline tires.
INTERIOR: Absolutely like new. New carpet down on the floor. It has a complete set of factory seat belts restored by Snake Oil. The seats are reupholstered and I'm very impressed with how well they fit. The door panels are pristine including the wood grain trim, armrests, handles and cranks. Overhead is a pristine bright white headliner with matching visors, working dome light, and a new mirror. In front of me is a pristine dash area. The dash pad and glove box door were professionally restored by Just Dashes. The bezels were sent out to Mr. G's for new plastic chrome plating. The knobs, heater control panel, emblem, radio look new. The steering wheel is in very nice shape with just a few hairline cracks.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The original 400-350 hp motor runs smooth as silk. It has Mondello lifters. It has stock manifolds, valve covers and correct restored 4 barrel carb. Even the spark plug wires are dated properly. The correct chrome air cleaner assembly is restored. The factory air conditioning system was completely restored at the time of restoration. Just about every part was replaced- the condenser, POA valve, evaporator, dryer, compressor etc. The heater core and control valve were replaced. Reproduction clutch fan, shroud, hoses and clamps. It even has the correct rubber flaps on each side of the radiator. The water pump was replaced. New hood hinges and hood insulation. The washer bottle is hooked up to the squirters. Delco battery cover with spring clamp cables. It even has a complete and restored California smog system. All the surfaces are neatly painted with a smooth finish.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: All clean metal painted the same color as the car. I believe it has the original quarter panels, I don't see any cuts or splices. It does have a reproduction two piece mat and matching tire cover. The spare is a radial redline never used, on a painted green rim. The jack assembly is also under the spare. The weatherstrip and seat divider look new. It has a trunk, wiring looks new.
UNDERSIDE: Underneath this car is restored to concourse condition. The body was removed from the frame, the chassis components were sandblasted and powder coated. It has the rallye suspension which includes swaybars and boxed rear control arms. The front end steering and suspension has been completely rebuilt and detailed. New bushings, springs, shocks, ball joints, tie rods etc. In back it has new bushings, springs and air shocks. The brake system was completely rebuilt, the lines and hoses were replaced. The e-brake system is complete. Correct new aluminized exhaust system with proper crimped tailpipes and chrome tips. New fuel system including the tank, pad, straps, insulators, hardware, sending unit and lines. Looking up at the motor it is spotless, restored starter. The Jetaway automatic was rebuilt. The driveshaft was restored and has correct assembly line markings. It has the original rear end, not a pit in it. The metal floors are immaculate, dry and smooth as a chalkboard. Painted satin black with correct green overspray. The body bushings were replaced.
This one is a keeper. The new owner will be proud. He or she won't have to apologize for nothing!

He knows his Oldsmobiles. I like when the word 4-4-2 is said correctly when showing these cars. Not “Four- Forty- Two”, but Four- Four- Two. 👍

I have to admit that is one of the best restorations that I have seen on a 1966 442 in along time. If I only had the money I would buy it today. Oh well I can dream. Thank you for the eye candy. Stay safe and well. Signed John G.( Dr. Olds ) Gregory. From Munster Indiana.

There were 5 variations of the 442 made in 1966, Holiday Coupe, Sports Coupe, Deluxe Holiday Coupe, Club Coupe, & Convertible, This could be one of them. They were off the Cutlass F-85 platform without Cutlass badging.
