On Chris Barnes’s Absolute, the original Absolute of course, he put a 360 Pad on it.
I've thrown two balls with reacta gloss, I didn't mind the Electrify go, but the Fate was iffy. I sanded the Fate and shinned it up with Xtra shine from Storm and I'm loving even more now
I loved the fate job and never touched it

That's funny because I'm the opposite. He's an excellent bowler, there's no denying that, and I enjoy his commentary/information/opinions. I've just never liked the throw it half-way down the lane style (yes, I'm exaggerating). I also don't blame him though. I'm short, so laying the ball down is likely a bit easier for me than it is for someone his size. Ha ha!
@@nevinkinzel I don't throw if half way down the lane, it's 1/3 at most lol. Thanks though. I wish I got it down earlier but my knee doesn't like to do that
I prefer most polished pearls and hybrids at 4K wet sanded. Got a 221 last week with 4K on my Gauntlet Fury.

I got my Absolute. Tried Luke R's suggestion and changed the surface to 1000 and put storm step 2 on. First ball went right into the gutter. Will be knocking off the polish. I'm a higher speed lefty with a decent amount of revs. Shot 754 last week with the Reality Check and shot 767 this week with the Phaze 5. Hope I can find a home for the Absolute.

Update: I think the ball is a solid piece. It does what it's supposed to do if your execution is good on transitioned shots.
I have a phase 5, and I used reactor scuff and then came on top of that with a 4000 grit pad. I really like how it looks now. Before it was a little too uncontrollable or sharp on the backend.

I have 550+ rev rate one handed and two handed and I don't use polish on anything. I also bowl on higher volumes most of the time, however, I still like to hit my "would be polished bowling balls" with a 4000 pad
I feel mostly the same way! Minus the rev rate LOL

I'd like to see a similar review on a lane that isn't fresh. Neither of these are a ball for the fresh, though there is some argument around it being a house shot versus a burned-up sport or challenge pattern. Either way, always enjoy the vids and the insight!
With surface I would argue that these can be used on the fresh! But with polish it def not ideal!
I am thinking of getting both.

I personally did a surface change on 8 of my balls. Based on how I perform, I'll probably annoy a few people for putting a 500-grit surface on my urethane balls.

What shoes are they? Didn't you wear the SST8 Boas? I have them in a cart with a few soles and heels. Can't justify the $270is price for everything though. Sad that they don't offer the shoes with more slides and soles. I'd get the 3g tour C's for this reason, but hate that orange. Also don't know how I feel about the boarder of the sole that doesn't change when swapping slides.

The absolute seems to be quite speed sensitive. Is that just my perception or do you think it's a thing?
Def a rev dominant ball it seems like. Even Jr pro shop has a decently high rev rate and makes that ball look so good bc it does have a lot of good backend
With the polish I would def agree with that!
Personally I think paying high end ball price on a ball with one of the weakest covers storm makes is a complete rip off. With my higher ball speed and lower Rev rate I don't see any instances were I would use the absolute that I couldn't use something else in my bag that wouldn't work just as well if not better. I'm not at all excited about these new releases. I would however be interested in something with the core from the absolute with a stronger cover.
Absolute just looks like a money grab to me. Had nothing else they wanted to pair with revenant release right now. Don’t see it being around for long.
Couldn’t agree more. Medium cover is the lowest they should go on a big asym like this. There’s 7 other balls in the SPI line that can fit in the slot this ball goes in, but at a cheaper price. Also, Storm is losing big on this Reacta shine, so much so that it’s becoming a bad joke already with everyone. It’s not gonna last, the people have spoken, it’s terrrrrrrible.
@@briguyinsi Yup, I am experimenting. Old Halo pearl is my experiment ball, seemed like it was dying, so pro shop did a resurface plus reacta-gloss per my request. My pro shop is a quality guy, but result was not good and seemed too juicy and no bite. Took it down to 500 + Step 2 myself and it rolls great. I skipped the 1000 grit just to give it more teeth.
@@frankschmidt8001 Nice, yea most I know including myself have done similar things playing w the surface on anything that has this Reacta shine now. I get they made the change because of what happened (I’m assuming), but whatever additive or additives are used in the formula that makes it harder or whatever, is just not allowing us to see the true reaction or capability of said ball. I hope Storm revisits it soon, we should not have to do all of this w brand new pieces.
@@briguyinsi True on the new pieces. My Altered Reality is not that old and it rolls like a dud, as I had the same process done as the Halo based on the gloss hype. Gotta fix it now. Storm guy said to use 500, 1000, Step 2, same as Halo. Maybe I'll skip the 1000 as I am speed dominant, not sure yet.

@@LuisNapoles I recently noticed that the front of my non-slide shoe is beginning to split. Now I am wondering if I have the same issue! That part of my sole is not black rubber, so it is non-marking. Not sure the brand/model of your shoes, but you'd think the manufacturer would have considered toe drag in the shoe design. I have seen shoes (Dexter SST6 or 8?) which have toe caps to prevent the replaceable soles from peeling off. I may give those a try.

I’m a league bowler in Indonesia, with a 3 ball arsenal, currently using the STorm Alpha as my strongest arsenal, MVP Roto grip and Hyroad. I am thinking to renew these arsenals, probabbly starting with the alpha and hyroad (two of the oldest ball I have). To replace the alpha, would you recommend the absolute, supernova o the exotic gem? And to replace the hyroad, would you recommend the revenant? To be honest, I’m inclined to get another hyroad or night road, simply because the I have always find the hyroad to be really versatile and very reliable. Thank you for your opinion.

I think the Absolute is gonna be a total miss. Even with surface I don't think the cover is strong enough for the core. I haven't seen a review yet that makes it look better than any other ball on the market - or even to replace something from a few years ago - for a particular use case. The Revenant is interesting but I think the Fate does what it does, but better.

I have a question. I have a UC3. Since its a pearl urethane and it says that its 1000 abralon finish. So when i want to maintain its surface should i just sand it 1000 grit or sand it then polish it?
This ball doesnt come with polish on it

I have a Idol cosmos and when transition the ball really hooks early. I’m looking for something that will get down the lane a little better was thinking revenant or iq ruby currently using venom shock as my benchmark which would you recommend?

I know it's probably not a popular opinion, but all too often you guys are having a conversation I'd LOVE to hear, but you cut it off for the next shot. I wonder how other people feel about longer videos that let the stuff you and Chris are talking about play out.
