You should probably check start up fuel dose. Or some of your glowplugs are just pretending to work

You don't have to heat up the glow plugs multiple times, doesn't make a difference, rather only gives battery a hard time.

OP might be used to older car designs. My old Ford diesel had the glow plugs on fairly short timers to prevent them burning out, and on a cold morning the only possible way to start it was to cycle the glow plugs off three times then turn it over. agree that a modern car like this probably has intelligent glow plug controllers that keep them on as long as is needed

It makes a huge difference, i have same Saab and I cycle 7-10 times for a quick start.

@@hp2084 7-10 seems a bit exessive, try give it 2/3 times and waiting 30 sec. Each time, it’ll for sure start up smooth

@@andrewd.6072 Sure will try that. I cycle them every time the glow plug indicator goes out. Have the car only for a month and a half so still getting to know it.

WTF just wait 30 seconds, and then start it. You kill the battery with this shit.

    • @andrewd.6072

I garantee to u that waiting 30 sec. Does nothing for this car, u have to heat up the glow plugs multiple times to start it without too many difficultes.
Cranking the engine immediatly just gives an hard time to the starter and drains a lot of juice from the battery, so doing like OP is showing is the best, at least for this car.
I personally own one of those and it’s the exact same even for mine on cold starts
