I wish Renegades got a season 2, these ideas for it sound awsome!
Hasbro has a big ole file labeled GI Fumble because they have squandered this IP to no avail. It’s amazing that the toys has sold so well in it’s resurgence with no media attached.
They are still benefiting from the work that was done in the 80’s.
The Snake Eyes movie script proved that Hasbro doesn't know what to do with their own IP. The actual Hama story is so much better than what ended up on the screen. Bad ass special ops soldier becomes a ninja after losing his family after the war is way cooler than unlikable crook wants revenge for daddy.
Hasbro is a dogshit company run by private equity goons.
Paramount has Never shown it had either Respect, let alone Real Working Knowledge of what G. I. Joe and what made it successful in the 1980s to begin with.
What a bummer, that 3rd Sunbow season sounds so amazing! Clearly the comic writers borrowed some concepts like The Coil.
This is excellent coverage. I was rereading the Marvel comics recently and saw those letters about the live action movie. Again, what might have been!
Great video but you got some facts wrong. Marvel didn’t tap a manufacturer to make toys. It was the other way around. Hasbro tapped Marvel.
In my opinion if they ever redo a Joe movie it should be set in the 80s not in the near future
like I'd like to see it be in 1979 maybe 1980 I think that is what we need.. And they need to make more 3 1/4 figures!!!
And it can show Vietnam flashbacks for snake stalker and storm shadow
That’s where I would start too
That's right! An 80s vibe with the Transformers from Rise of the Beasts film. And then a possible spin-off continuation with G.I. Joe. Who's with me on this statement?
Resolute still remains one of the best Joe animated films to date, and I wished they had further developed that rendition (obviously to gritty to be kid-friendly, but that's an increasingly blurry line anyway). Personally, I can do without live-action (so much CGI these days, might as well just spend the money on quality animation).
Agreed, Resolute is great
I agree. It honored what came before and paved the way for something new without abandoning what makes G.I. Joe work.
That cast would have brought everyone to the theater.
ur videos rock.. i joined the Marines n 94... i grew up in the 80s.. with GI Joe-- it was a true reason why i joined the military, i truly knew i wanted to be in the military as a kid.. i did 20 yrs in the Marines.. yur videos rock! .. i know a lot of my generation was inspired or had a foundation of joining becuase of this toy and cartoon effects on us as kids.. for sure, being a latch-key kid and Chicago WGN* showing it everday after school on cable tv at 4pm..
Thank you and thank you for your service!
This is such a great toy to have
So frustrating to not have a decent Joe movie. The comics have so much to pull from. Instead we got call of duty advanced warfare exo suits. I'll stick with the comics. Yo Joe!
Exactly! There is so much history in comics to pull from that would make an awesome GI Joe movie
I wholeheartedly agree with you 100%, but frankly, VietNam War backstory is too far removed "ancient history" that doesn't interest today's generations.
We may never know how G.I. Joe movies and TV 📺 shows would turn out.
Hasbro needs to realize that G.I.Joe aren't superheroes, I like G.I.Joe, I like The Avengers, I like the Justice Leauge, but I know these things don't go together, it's like putting cookies on pizza!
THIS!
For real, I wish we can have a more military force GI JOE
haha I like that analogy!
@@JLSComics thank you
Go read the comics
Superhero Origins Colleen Wing.
Cool Video JLS Comics
Superhero Origins Shanna.
Also, killing Duke would've been a total waste, because Duke got a new toy the year after G.I.Joe the movie was released.
i wish the animation was as serious as the Larry Hama Comics!
my husband is a veteran and loves the GI Joe comics
If they give us a G.I.Joe show that take influence from the Larry Hama book we would finally have the ultimate G.I.Joe animated series!
@@jakeproven256 something like Resolute too
@@MayumiC-chan9377 yes, of course.
@@jakeproven256 i always wish one of my husband’s favorite artist Motofumi Kobayashi would do a serious gi joe manga too!
Mr. Kobayashi is known very very military mangas!
Like J Force and Tokyo Wars.
I 💯% Agree! G. I. Joe, given its anti-terrorist/spec ops premise, should've presented a far more seriously like Robotech or Space Battleship Yamato. Unfortunately, Joe cartoon apologists get ultra sensitive, claiming 'it's for kids'.
If you hate the name cobra-la, just be gratful that it's still a better name than "Kiddie Hawk"
So, nobody at Hasbro said that they should have David Leitch do the GI Joe movies?
Would’ve got a better more faithful to the mythology and look if the movie was done in the 90s.
How about an adaptation that is more faithful to Hama's version? Maybe adapt some of the comic storylines (creation of Cobra Island, the fall of Springfield, "Operation Lady Doomsday," Cobra's civil war that led to the death of Serpentor) into animated movies like has been done with some DC Comics storylines.
The comic and the cartoon didn't share continuity. Snake Eyes in the cartoon was not prominent, Storm Shadow in the cartoon was unredeemable, and as far as I remember NEVER interacted with Snake Eyes. Cobra La never existed in Hama's world, and Cobra Commander was a very successful con man.
Hama's version wad always a touch of realism with a hint of sci fi, whereas the cartoon was totally science fiction.
Fantastic video. So many cool ideas that never were... 😢
Thanks! I agree, so many “what could’ve been” missed opportunities
They made every joe movie extremely wrong i always wondered why no one ever listened to wizard magazine they really did have the best casting groups 👍
Their casting calls were fun and many were surprisingly accurate to boot
@@JLSComics agreed mate 👍
Hey Jessie. Cool Video. I really enjoyed it. Thank you. 😼💯
Dude, yeeeeessss!!!! Awesome Part 2!!
Thanks man! These are fun to put together
Hasbro’s just a mess w making movies for the Joes. My personal version of them is a bit Adventure Team / Expendables. A small capable team on specific missions, not planet saving, just fun. K.I.S.S. System. 😂
I like that - GI Joe Special Missions style
Funny with how Gary Oldman was going to be Cobra Comander, because he played Commisoner Gordon in the Dark Knight trilogy, plus Joeseph Gordon Levid who played Cobra Comander in Rise Of Cobra, also played John Blake in The Dark Knight Rises, plus Gordon and Blake had many scenes together in DKR, so yeah.
The A-Team movie was good, so much better than the weak Expendables films that got many sequels. I like Sly but those films are bad & his last Rambo was trash.
12:14 G.I.Joe may have picked up popularity in the early 2000's but boy oh boy, it was for all the wrong reasons.
lol 😂
Given that the animated & live action G. I. Joe 'films' are so replete with errors, be Very Thankful and Grateful these never came to pass...
Amazing Job Bruv!!!!!!!
Thanks brotha! 🤘
Mega Force is such great 80s cheese!
haha yes!
6:50 I'm pretty sure the animated mini series they are referring to here is Operation Dragonfire, because while it dose say november, issue 92 was released much earlier in 1989, before september.
Bro your the goat!!!! Can you please do one on zanndar
Thank you! Zandar is definitely on my list for upcoming videos
11:46 I know my husband would of loved it!
My husband to me and his men at his private security company the real Sergeant Stalker.
My husband is also a big Wesley Snipes fan and served in the South African national defense forces . We deserved this movie over that filth we got! Also wished they would of casted someone better to play Jinx!
He and I have that in common as Wesley Snipes fans! Your husband sounds like a cool guy
@@JLSComics he’s a typical goofball a Staff Sergeant when he was active duty and now a devoted husband and father showing our son his favorite past time when he was a little boy. My husband collected Gi joe comics and the figures.
Issue 45 was actually released in late 1985 as of more recent information.
Duke's wound re-locates to the other side of his chest in the movie.
Skip Woods also wrote A Good Day To Die Hard, do I need to go on?
😊😊
The 2010 The A-Team film was far more credible than Any of the live action or animated G. I. Joe films.
In terms of Armaments, Costumes, Vehicles and Gear, a Live Action G. I. Joe film is a snap. Its too bad that in terms of Writing/Script/Casting and Direction, Paramount couldn't get it right. They can't even claim they're doing their best.
Far better for Hasbro to let Marvel Studios tackle G. I. Joe. It may not generate $1,000,000,000.00+ at the box office like The Avengers, Black Panther, Captain Marvel or Spider-Man, but odds are it will be truer to the source material with a cast that looks the part.
If anything, A team was a GI Joe film without the Joes at least as far as the comics go.
@@mattbarnes3467
Too bad that when Marvel had the rights to publish The A-Team as a 3 issue miniseries, nobody suggested having them cross paths with the Joes.
@@mattbarnes3467i agree in the same way that the winter soldier works as well as salt in said universes. Though not tagged as said properties.
Please do Who is Hector Ramirez? !
0:32 to 0:40 wow, this makes me even more happy that the ban on toy based cartoons was lifted, because this is rediculous.
They're going to do a G.I. Joe and Transformers tie-in movie, and a Michael Bay Transformers at that? Oh well, prepare for another bomb. Why can't they just do a really good sci-fi war film based on the franchise without making it silly and for babies? This is what a G.I. Joe movie should be like.

I thought I was crazy but I saw a poster of gi joe the live action movie in the theaters. I thought I was going crazy.
The regulations for childrens tv was the only good thing to come from the Regan administration.
enunciate!
Gi Joe the movie all suck! I'm referring to the live action movies!
I wish Hasbro would make more GI Joe, the real American hero! And if they do do a live action movie again it should be based on the comics and that's from the characters on to the equipment that they use.
Most of the current stuff is junk.
Cool Dude > Snake Eyes
nobody wouldve cared if Duke died he was no Optimus prime
Not nearly to the same degree, no.
Agreed. Duke was not Hawk or Joe Colton.
