I've always thought it was cool how Cobra had different affiliate groups: The Crimson Guard, the Dreadnoks, the Iron Grenadiers, Cobra-La. These dudes definitely diversified their "Evil Portfolio!"

At that time Zartan was one of the coolest action figures ever. Changing color in the sunlight was pretty sweet!
I actually had Zandar and Zarana action figures when I was a kid . When you put them in sunlight they changed colour.!! It was so mind-blowing as a kid.... Ahh the old days....
Yeah i had one of them too as a kid, it would change color if u put it in snow... the original hooded storm shadow was hard to find and nobody wanted to trade it at school 😔
My all-time favorite Zartan lines come from the movie during the exchange with Pythona.
Z: "We don't know who you are, where you came from, or even what side you're on... why should we risk our necks on your behalf?"
P: "Does this answer your questions?" (she produces a gigantic gem)

Man, The Dreadnoks were -- still are -- the coolest GI Joe characters for me. I wish I had all of their action figures, but having Zartan alone was one of my best childhood memories. That skin-darkening effect that Hasbro gave on the Zartan figure's body when exposed to the sun is AMAZING.
Biker gang that loves "grape soda and chocolate donuts " is a cover for Jack Daniels and Meth.... LOL

Naw. Zanya was one of too many examples of Blaylock trying to make a personal mark on canon.
That year I got Zartan, Buzzer, and Ripper was the best Christmas ever!
Larry Hama wrote some of the best stories. I collected the Joe comics when I was younger. Zartan being responsible for the Hard Master's death was a cool twist. Great memories.
In the cartoon, that is Zartan's HAIR!
I know the toy it does not look like hair, maybe just to fit the face mask.

Does anyone remember when you could make your own joe and send money off and they would make it? Any kid ever do that? It was like 3 proof of purchase. On the back of gi joes toy box.
Dreadnoks had the coolest commercial jingles: "They can destroy and leave no traces, DREADNOKS"! "Evil is wriiten all over their faces DREADNOKS "!
Zartan and the Twins were my favorite characters. I always wanted to go punk after seeing them, and loved the side shave on girls long b4 it became popular
I always wondered if it was Marvel that wouldn't let them drink beer or Hasbro. Marvel characters normally drank beer in comics and "grape soda" is obviously a stand-in for beer in the comic.
More likely, hasbro is giving guidelines for Marvel. It was a kids' toy line at the time, and the cartoon was the main outlet for the figures. The comics sometimes blended the two to give the character's more personality.
We all know grape soda & chocolate doughnuts are code words for pain killers and crystal meth.

Thrasher was my eternal favorite. I went to a private school where lacrosse and bad behavior were two traditions... I feel like he could have been a classmate.
I always read the grape soda and doughnuts as being metaphors for alcohol and amphetamines, obviously you can't have these things in a kids franchise.
Man I love the Dreadnoks.
I still have all of my dreadnocks figures & vehicles, snake eyes & storm shadow figures.
Cobra, and the Dreadnoks were way cooler designs than the Joes. Had all the Dreadnoks but the one with the boar.
At one point I felt I had to buy six joes to even up numbers.
....up until Zanzibar, that is. Never knew about those exclusives.
You know they are badasses. When they just want Grape Soda and Chocolate Donuts. Seriously. Who drinks Grape Soda? It isn't even grape! Just Purple Soda.
These guys were awesome. I got their car one year for my Birthday. Dual mini-guns mounted on the front...a great toy.

Patiently awaiting a Road pig Classified figure...Gnaw too.....Zanzibar first ever Joe vehicle and figure set i got when i was little...Toy Liquidators.... then i get to the end of ur video and the vehicles is there AND u brought up the Streetfighter reused vehicle.... been watching ue vids since i got up... ur good stuff man!!!

Loved the noks. Buzzer is my favorite. Never got why they didn’t make some regular motorcycles for them. I like how you included the custom vehicle pic with a Zanya vintage style figure. And would’ve been cool to see the Inhumanoids in the Joe toon
The Original Marvel and the Image/Devils Due comics run are my Joe Canon. Just awesome!

Please do some videos on Clutch, Grunt, and Steeler! The 3 G.I.Joes who remained behind in the alternate Cobra Controlled universe in the G.I.Joe episode Worlds Without End!
I have often wanted a follow up in some form to that excellent episode.
@@andrewgrant2990 I bet the writers did that episode with an alternate Cobra Controlled Universe and have Clutch, Grunt, and Steeler remain behind as a way to discontinue them in the cartoon without having them killed off because of how Hasbro discounted their action figure toys at the time! Because of all the broadcast standards and trying to keep the shows kid friendly, they had to have zero body count in all cartoon shows. However, once Transformers The Movie came out, we all know about how a lot of old autobots and decepticons were killed off including Optimus Prime just to discontinue the cartoon characters since they discontinued the toys so they could make room for new toys and characters! We all know the big controversy about killing off Optimus Prime in Transformers The Movie because of how so many kids were traumatized by the death of Optimus Prime in Transformers the movie which is what made the writers change Duke's death in G.I.Joe The movie to being in a coma which he'll eventually come out of! However, if they had released G.I.Joe the Movie before Transformers The Movie, Duke would've been killed off by Serpentor for sure but you know feature films don't have all the broadcast standards that the regular tv shows do! So I think they wrote Worlds Without End and had Clutch, Grunt, and Steeler remain behind in the alternate Cobra Controlled universe to discontinue them in the cartoon without killing them off!
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful video, the Dreadnoks were an interesting addition to a world fill with military guys and terrorists and make it more colorful those bikers really paid off their time with COBRA as an adult you notes that in the animated series were just mere clowns and sometimes their toughness that thing that made them unique were put aside instead of the comic book part were they were worth every penny of it, although their appearance in Renegades was very cool.
Is a shame that never got used in a live action movie, especially in Retaliation where Zartan was more prominent and Zandar did appear they could had been used as the President' s personal bodyguards.

I think Dreadnoks is meant to be a cool mispelling of the class of ship, dreadnaught. From the line, "Fear God and dread naught."

Hey! My Sears boxed set of the photochromic repaint RAM cycle and VAMP didn't come packaged with a special Zarana, like that!
NOK is also next of kin, who’ll have to be notified after you meat the Dreadnoks or could imply they’re family, Domestic Toretoo would approve of criminals taking care of their own, gangs being like.

My favorite baddies, right up there with Storm Shadow & Tomax & Xamot! I'm an only child so I couldn't be the twins.... I stopped taking tkd at Red/yellow belt so I couldn't be a ninja... Oh well I love my bike and my Club.... Guess I grew up to be a damn Dreadnok!!!

You left out the episodes that zarana and mainframe 's star crossed love took place. But, sunbow never took it any further because of how things in the comics were developed.
