Easy fix for the "temp HP from killing things" is to make it equal to half the HP of the creature you killed. Prevents the bag of chickens scenario and it's like the plane rewards you for conquering worthy foes. Not only that, it means that a party of powerful adventurers have a built-in reason why they have random encounters or folks who wanna kill them specifically.
2:37 "They're trying to erase Shetring."
Have they tried Scrubbing Bubbles?
Fizbans Bubbles may have cornered the market in the outer planes.
I could see mephistopholese finding a way to use the material of archeron. Feed it souls to grow it, fracture it into cubes to build forts with their own gravity walls. any time your devils pop a foe they get some juicy hit points.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Acheron and Carceri should swap places on the great wheel.
You could switch this in your own campaigns. Your universe, your laws. Up is where you say it is.
Good idea
Why?
I like acheron as it is...law tainted a smidgen by evil...a militariocratic 1984 situation where the only way to better your situation is imposing your power over others lower then you...Gahanna and carceri are my problem children...there themes of betrayal are too simular for my tastes
Depends on how you run Cerceri, IMO, and the thematic composition of Acheron.
Like, if you're building the plane based on "What is it like to *be there* then yeah, a prison feels like the lawful plane and a battlefield like the chaotic one.
But if you're asking about "Who gets *sent here* ?" then it does make sense for the lawful evil "I was just following orders." Neuremburg-Defense types to be sent to a lawful evil plane where they are sent to "Just Follow Orders" in a pointless, horrifying hellscape battlefield for all Eternity. Even if the outward *appearance* is chaotic, the plane is the most suitable and interesting *punishment* for characters in a lawful and evil alignment, IMO.
Similarly with Carceri, Lawful Evil characters don't get thrown in maximum secuirty prison- they go to prison for tax evasion while getting away with all their genuinely despicable crimes, like Al Capone, or they're the ones *running* the prisons and abusing prisoners there. The Prison Plane *makes sense* if the people in it are the chaotic and evil ones, though Carceri is also trying to make the native fiends the jailors, and the results are kinda weird.
I don't think any of the Great Wheel Planes are *great*, but Acheron and Carceri make sense for their places in the Wheel based on *who's going there* even if they have some innate contradictions.
Dungeoncast: "You can't calculate this"
Fermi: "Hold my beer."
no mention of the Cadaver Collector from Volo's :( they are mechanical constructs from Acheron and are quite terrifying, you should do an episode on them soon :)
in any case, good episode as always! thanks alot for all you do, William and Brian!
I don't get too much lawfulness from this plane if I'm honest.
As a DM, I used a random table that determined which plane the party traveled to for a boss fight on a spell jamming ship that was traveling to outer planes uncontrollably. The ship crashed into a cube on Archeron and a bunch of ghost orcs joined the fight. It was epic!
That was one of the best short rests I've ever killed.
Shout out to the Little Nicky reference, and to the Demogorgon!
One of my favorite outer planes. Thanks for the video!
Acheron is fun, but not too detailed. It has material to create adventures for days. In my campaign there were fightclubs in the lower levels, the sickest, most brutal interplanar bouts, of beings who just got addicted to battle, and didn't care about purpose, or hierarchy anymore, hiding between pipes and rust of the scavenged cubes. My players sometimes got bought into this, if they were in the losing side in a battle or got knocked but didn't die. Only one way out. Fun times.
For a plane of law, it seems pretty chaotic with all the Army's going around battling with no purpose
25 episodes to number 400 boys, I won't start the countdown again just yet but thanks again for all the glory that you've added to my mind Palace!
I am going to go with 238 dice in the jar - blue being the most common, and 43 blue dice in the jar
I’m actually writing an Acheron module for Adventurer’s League right now, I love that this episode came out right now
i love how many of the elion and beern episodes just end in screaming
Hey guys! Not related to this video, but have you read the new Chains of Asmodeus book? It stats out all the Archdevils. Year of the fiend may be long gone but I’m sure many people would love to hear your takes on these Archfiends statistics.
Thanks for the awesome content guys. It's very helpful yet entertaining
Dragon Magazine 93 has a pronunciation guide, in case you didn't have time to look it up.
Some temp hp dont stack worh certain affects and can be canceled by casting another. Aslo it might just count for the one kills and refreshes with each.
Acherai are upgraded versions of Hyundai.
Going with 386 dice in the jar, also great episode!
For the contest: 253 dice in the jar
270 dice; most common color blue at 40
We Jas chillin'.
I'm gonna say 172 dice with more blue at 24
For the contest : 196 dices, and more blues with 31.
I’m guessing 257 dice with red being the most common color. I think there 34 red dice.
Thanks for having such amazing content!
I want more videos like "the tragedy of Zariel the Fallen" that was amazingly done. That format was perfect ❤
Just found out about y’all. I reworked this plane by adding an extra layer on top and adding more planar natives based on Vodun mythos, Egyptian mythology, and some Cenobite valkyries sprinkled in.
Ah, the Great Popeye Famine of 2019 I believe.
Dice Contest!! Im going to guess 276 total and more light blue than others at 37.
Contest guess: 246 (against my better judgement)
208 dice. Most is purple with 38
For the contest: 250 dice in the jar.
249 Dice in the Jar
35 Blue dice are the biggest group
Im guessing 236 dice with blue being the most prominent at 28 blue dice.
My guess is 292 dice in the jar.
238. That is my guess for the contest
william brian love you guys
269 (becouse it takes 2 to make a 69) 33 blue dices makes the majority!
You show is the 4th pillar of dnd 🤘
For the contest, I guess 365 dice
Dice contest: 349 total just a guess with bad math.
Are you guys gonna talk about Pandemonium and Carceri?
Yup

225 dice in the jar is my guess
sick
What's wrong with "Ball Spawn"? That's what we all are - the spawn of our Father's balls.................
Shout out to my homie Dee-Mo
Wassaap
My contest guess is 196 🕶
Contest Guess: 278
Man I totally get where Brian is coming from when to it comes to Birds
The only good bird is a Fried Chicken
And I do remember the Popeye's chicken fights man that was crazy
Which leads me to think there is at least one cube in Acheron where there is a Popeye's 😂
Dice contest 281 most color red and red dice total 37
I guess 142 dice
I guess 301 the contest
@thedungeoncast my formal quess for the contest is 225
299dices, 29 black is most common
69 dice final offer
Man I hate that they reused names of cities in Acheron for the Astral Dominion of Chernoggar. Like why not just come up with new names?
Tem hp doesn't stack so i don't see a problem there
stop balancing things as a Dm..
I've been DMing for 20 years and what I have found is that balancing your fights is what makes them bad. Nothing in life is balanced.
Sometimes you have the upper hand, sometimes they do, but worrying about the CR rating on a creature is no different that painting on a clown face. Rookie mistakes.
