You want to 10x the hobby???? Make hobby wax more affordable. I can’t for the life of me what idiots are paying $800-$1000 plus for a box of Football cards. I’m a long time collector with disposable income but not a sucker. It can’t be affordable for only breakers.
Yeah, it’s ridiculous these prices , in 2005 I would buy a whole case of playoff contenders when it was actually good back then and it would cost like 1800 but for the whole case.

Signatures, just signatures without pictures, are worth money if they are the right names. And no, i'm not talking, just sports stars. I'm talking musicians. Presidents, foreign ambassadors, actors, the list goes on.

Leaf has had crazy combo autos with curry/durant/etc/etc for a while on high quality cards. They’ve had all game used memorabilia cards of crazy players. The only knock has always been no license. But Topps gets a pass? I get wemby, Lebron, Levis, and stroud who are exclusive. But I don’t see why this is getting so much excitement when people have been trash talking leaf forever.
Because all these pump and dump influencers are paid shills.

Generally I don’t love them, but since Topps has all the top exclusive autographs in these products, they will do really well.

The hobby shop bad experience is because people go in to get cards and realize the card packs/boxes are so high they can't afford then I don't go in to just see how clean the shop is
Facts. The only reason to go to a shop is to open product. I want singles, I go to ebay.

This will kill over 50% of the small shops. Theres not enough revenue and people flow to force a shop to keep adding junk products that Topps has overproduced. (True end goal for Topps). This will be great for breakers though
The card market has gotten so watered down how does anyone buy new products. The prices are crazy
Base cards will be almost worthless unless you pull an auto. Not having the names on the uniforms hurts the product
Didn’t stop Panini baseball from doing big numbers, and Topps is a much better manufacturer

Smart thing to do would probably be granting licenses to a limited number of companies (maybe around 5-6) and then limiting the number of cards (of a player) produced in a year

While I get the desire of fanatics to be professional or whatever, i do hate the barrier to entry this creates and following from that the inevitable markup that needs to add. Feels like while theyre doing it for collectors, theyll be hurting actual collectors. Whats the number one gripe of people these days? wax prices and here they are pushing it higher. They can ease my concerns by offering wax direct at a cost price + x% type thing. I dont want to pay for your fancy stores, I want to be able to rip and collect

I have a lot of vintage cards, but I feel if I have to get me cards, greated,for 19.00 an the card is worth a one dallor how can I make money?
Topps overprints their products to the sky.... Only the top cards will be worth anything....
We can say they are doing better however they sent my 2022 Topps heritage J-Rod red ink auto to the wrong address. Topps admitted they were in the wrong and 5 months later I’m still waiting for a resolution. I call every two weeks and get the run around.

I have 2 different card shops near my house. One tries to sell $70 more on hobby boxes than normal. The other one is normally spot on. Crazy to me. I have never bought a single card from a card shop because they are like $60 over what the should be. That's why I was hoping to have cards HQ in AZ
I live in Houston, Texas and there is only 1 card shop in the entire city. Someone please open another one nearby!!
Hey guys, I’m trying to understand what it means by unlicensed? How does that work?
I think it means that whoever wins the license bidding (which is Panini at the moment), they get to have the logo of the teams on the image of the card. In this case, since Panini has the license, Topps can’t use the NBA team logo on their products.
Card shop 2.0 means raising prices for everyone. This entire industry is in a massive money grab. That's it. They don't care about the everyday collector.

Once I saw Panini dutch auctioning hobby boxes on their website for like $10k, I knew they were done. Hopefully Topps brings the heat and sports cards can get back to being worth buying

Redemptions are terrible. Autos change over the years, and can be noticeably different year to year. This will affect values. Not to mention the possibilities of death, injury, or other circumstances to affect the athletes ability to fulfill the autograph.
Is there any talk of a 2024 Topps Bob Ross set? That was a huge W in 2023. If it is a stand alone it is even more valuable versus running it year after year.

Topps has been known to over produce and flood the market.. down grading the hobby.. I think, unless they can limit topps production, this is a mistake.
Not sure how contracts for autos work, but I feel like if a young guy gets HUGE, it's not worth his time to stop and sign a bunch of autos.
Maybe they can make it a sliding scale. If 2 years later he hasn't signed, but the cards are worth TONS OF MONEY now, he should have to supplement that cost if he doesn't sign??
Some guys get so big, they would probably rather give back the $25,000 or whatever they would get paid to sign 1,000 autos on their day off.....

My local card shop is trash. Fanfare in Kalamazoo MI. No negotiating and way over priced. Tried to sell me a raw 88 jordan for $200 and it was way off center. Shops like this kill it for me

The fact they didn’t release any photos to the public of the new F1 sets is kind of a slap in the face to the dedicated die-hard fans that collect F1. It’s a small community as it is and just seems like a mistake not to share any pics. Apparently they showed off some pics at the conference but no one show them for some reason??? Meanwhile we got the stroud and victor photos.

I see a future where licensing doesn't matter as much as the reputation of the company making the cards. This will also include pre-pro cards like OTE and College Draft Picks.

The real question is why are 2023 panini products selling so high with no big RC autos? Not to mention that spectra, immaculate massive let downs this yr not even vets have player worn patches massive L, and box prices and break spots haven’t reflected the inferior product

😂😂 so topps wants to not have anymore local shops. Not everyone has the currency to spend like you guys to improve. Local shops barely makes enough to pay the bills. If topps stop sending local shops there allocations wat you think gonna happen. Their trying to monopolize the card industrial. If you can't sell it locally then we have it on our web site for cheaper.
And who is gonna pay these card shop owners the $$$$ to do updates in their stores? maybe some owner has 2 kids in college and has a wife sick with cancer and $$$$ is tight..Or how about the owners that like their stores the way it is...
