Dude thanks !! I have a 2011 kia sportage , I couldn't find a video to change the trans fluid . You help me a lot .
That's what it's all about.. glad I was able to assist.
Looked all over and couldnt find the fill plug. Way to hide it Kia... You r my life saver for my job as i just finished. 🤘💯
Good upload! I just did my wife's 2014 2.4 liter with this guide. Most difficult part is taking the undertray off and putting it back.
this is the only video that showed clearly where the fill hole is--i changed fluid yesterday on 2011sportage
and very happy to have found this.
Thank you for the kind words.. cheers!
Just wanna say think you for the information on this transmission fluid change . Save me allot of money on doing in on my own. Did my 2011 kia sportage with no problems transmission fluid , and that eye glass I did find it and let it the transmission fluid flow out of it . Thank you very much !!!!!
Nice video, but music too loud. Thanks anyway!
U sure helped me do a transmission fluid change. Mines has 133k fluid was red and light brown mixed. It sure does shift alot smoother now
Thanks, I have a '14 Sportage and wondered how often to change fluid, now I know how. Seems doable.
Dude, if you're going to put music on a video, make sure that you're louder than the music.
Thank you VERY MUCH for posting this video !
Thanks for this video man I have a 2016 and yeah you are a life saver!
2013 Kia Sportage. 101,000 miles.
Thanks, man! This video helped me a lot. I just today did this job very close to the same way you did.
However, I was able to access the filler plug from the top and I was able to drain without jacking the car. Thus, I was also able to climb under and use the eyeglass (level port) to add perfect amount of fluid. (Note: I did temporarily jack car to remove engine underbody covers...)
Additional notes:
I got out a bit more ATF than you did. I got a full 4 quarts and then instead of being a cup less, mine took a full jug and about another cup more. My fluid also looked a tad cleaner in my estimation. I used a long plastic funnel that I rigged with the end of a blue def diesel exhaust funnel and that was the perfect size to jam in the filler port. It is a tight fit. Accessing the filler plug from the top and pouring the fluid in is one of the tougher parts of this job unless you want to disconnect some lines in the engine, which I do not.
Thanks again. This was a big help.
What atf you used
@@dprinc369 Same as the video. MaxLife full synthetic in the red bottle. Works great for Kia. I wouldn’t use anything cheaper. But, if I wanted to go with something more premium, then I’d go with Amsoil. I’ve now done this job twice on this car. The second time it came out much cleaner. It improved shifting performance significantly the first time. The second drain and fill I didn’t notice any difference.
Hi, thank you I also have a sportage. I had it for 6 years too...
Oh wait, you're my dad...
You're Vietnamese, why do you sound american
Very informative. Thanks for sharing with us.
How is the car driving after the fluid change, any difference in shift or sound? Thx, BTW, great video!
thanks for this video!
i have a 2014 kia rio. couldn't find the dipstick for the tranny fluid level. now i know.
Interesting.. thank you for the detail observation.
hey supermtran:something to look out for---i did my change a year ago,but last month i noticed a few red drips.yes it was trans fluid.after taking the plastic shield off under the engine and trans i saw the problem.the vertical oil pan on the front of the trans was rusty and leaking.moved the air cleaner etc. and removed 19 bolts and the replacement pan is now sturdy plastic.it looked to me the liquid gasket on the old pan was not applied thick enough. so just a warning,to check it-the plastic cover under the engine hides it.dave
bro i have a 2012 hyundai tucson they are same as sportag i was having problems which grade to buy of castol gear oil is the gear box CVT?
Thanks a lot for the video. Very helpful
Hi,
How many liters of Fluid did you put? Thanks.
Thanks my man, just tell me,what makes my kia does not takes the fist gear, even when I'm putting int manual it doesn't,up until I shft it into second gear
How many liters did you fill? Is there any minimal level?
How do you have a 2013 Kia Soul for over 6 years? The current year is 2018.
was that the first transmission oil change on that sportage?
Gracias me sirvió de mucho tú información
thanks for the video budd
Thanks man you answered my question by not opening that stupid measure hole
Drain and fill
Awesome...thanks.
Dude nice video & amazing music but would have liked to see complete oil chance process. But nice try though. 👍
Thank you
I know your concern.. I was too. But after 170k we are still good. No problem here.
given we are in 2019, how is the transmission behaving so far?
Thank you for the video, very instructive.
My Sportage now has 170k and still going strong.
I’m really happy they now have translate because I was able to read and appreciate your comments thanks!
I removed air filter box i removed battery and battery platform then u had access above to remove fill plug
That is the eye glass. You pour in New fluid until that drips slow
This a tool for me to use went I purchased my 2011 Kia Sportage.
130.000 km... Just for a few years wow....mine still 72000 km 😂😂. Sportage 2012.
How about to change Matic Fluid do you have the video?
Thanks!
Thanks.. i have 2015 kia sportage Now I know How to DIY.
I have a 2012 Kia Sportage. My only question that I can’t find no information on is that if the transmission has a filter we gotta change?
I was told that the filter is inside the transmission and therefore difficult to change cost wise and labor wise.
Good job but i would have got filler bolt undone first just in case it not budge . Then dropped oil .
I have the exact bolt on my Kia Rondo. They come off very easily
Who said atf is what you put back in and not ome kia transmission fluid
My 2014 KIA has ~90k miles and P967 automatic 6 speed gearbox, I wonder if this Maxlife Valvoline is suitable for my car...
I'm calling the dealer and getting whatever they use
in all those miles with your kia sportage have you ever had any major problems with your kia sportage im thinking of buying one.
So reliable.. no problem.. paid $21k at the time.. very pleased!
How has the transmission held up after the change? Mine had 130000 miles on it and am hesitant to change it this late.
Don't flush it. Just drain and fill. No harm with a fluid swap.
170k and still going strong..
Do you guys know if the transmission has a filter we need to change?
Not dirty..oxidized. :-)
Great video however you should always use original fluid from the dealer it's just safer that way little bit more money also you should do it every 60,000 miles on top of that what I do is do it twice the same day the reason I do that is I get 80% of it out they hold 7 and 1/2 chords you only get about 4at a time out
Which is the original?
My opinion: Kia don’t make their own fluid, they get a good quality one and put their brand on it and sell it more expensive. Since you follow the manual specifications for the fluid, you can choose any good quality brand, so you’re good.
@@ErichGuidi Kia doesnt make their own, but they use hyundai which does make their own, its expensive though, I wouldn't recommend using anything else other than that one, but hey if people want to save money to each their own, I prefer to spend the extra cash when it comes to transmission and engine things.
Have you had any issues using Valvoline ATF?
I have a 2016 Sorento. Just changed using that ATF and it works fine. It's meets the KIA requirements for their transmissions, so there shouldn't be any worries.
I’ve got 170k on the Sportage and laughing all the way to the bank.
If ur hands are small enough u can reach from bottom but blindly
This video is a PAIN to watch.
First off - please, do your car and yourself a huge favor and change ATF at 20-30K miles first time (drain and fill or full exchange) and then do drain and fill every 30-40K miles thereafter. Remove the most of abrasive material suspended in the ATF when you drain it. If you change your car every 3 years - stop reading and go have a latte or freshen up your makeup.
Second - you don't need a jack to do this job, get a piece of cardboard and lay down on the ground.
Next, replace same volume you took out, use a graduated pitched from a dollar store. Make sure ATF drained and fresh one are at about same temp while same volume.
If you feel fresh ATF goes in too slow and feel comfy around engine bay now - pull off ATF cooler hose marked with red paint temporarily while filling - ATF will go in fast, put the hose back on and secure with its clamp when done.
It's a very basic job to do.
This kind on work - oil changes, ATF changes, brake pads changes and a few other basic jobs SHOULD BE TAUGHT in HIGH SCHOOL, grades 10-11. Along with driving skills and gun handling and shooting and cooking basic meals, men AND women.
Agree. I never go to the dealer unless it's a warranty issue. I would only take it to a reputable shop if the job is over my knowledge point.
I have Kia Sportage 2016 and i want to change my Transmision oil but i cannot locate the filler, any one who have idea its more appreciated.
As I've mentioned it's very hard to locate and I've point it out where it's at in 1:10 and again 2:15 where the filer is at. You may need need some padding on top of the engine and lean your head toward and look down to see it. And as I've stated that forget about unlocking the bolt from the top of your car and that you have to position yourself from the bottom of the car to access the bolt itself. Please watch the video again.. Hope it will help.
You don't need to jack car up to drain or fill, use large piece of cardboard and slide right under the car. Remove air box to get to fill port, remove return cooler ATF line to vent air while filling fresh fluid. If one wants full ATF replacement they can use that line to drain old fluid from torque converter. Also, check level with engine running. Don't do anything you are not sure about. Everything you do is your own responsibility.
how to pull transmission fluid back in?? missing that part lol
My Stock czcams.com/video/axjtiG1nnQ4/video.html
if you don't know how to put the fluid back in, maybe you should get a certified mechanic to do the job.
@@JJ-yx4wv Lmao thats what we are here for
The music pains my ears
Very sorry about this as this is my very first video. Please forgive.. at least you only had to endure 5 minutes long.. thanks!
how often do you change transmission fluid??
To be safe, I would do it every 60k miles
@@kalani1987 i just checked the Manual..it said replace every 60k ... u right baby
That is correct!
@@kalani1987 how about transmission filter ? do you replace transmission filter every 60k, too??
How many liters take???
He drained out about 4.8 quarts. So same amount goes back in
Btw that is NOT the transmission fluid fill hole, the fill hole is almost right above the Oil level plug, I dont know if its safe to fill it from the hole you mention. Here is a diagram of where it is. Mind you to get to the actual Fill Hole is one of the hardest things to do in this car, there is too many parts and hoses on top of it
www.kispmanual.com/fluid_components_and_components_location-695.html
Thanks for the diagram but that doesn’t look like the transmission on my vehicle. Perhaps it a V6 and my is four cylinder?
Hey Super guy thats not a Kia Logo on the introduction !
Yeah after market badge.. looks great doesn’t it?
The music detracts from the instruction.
why the music!!
Your video would have an A+ if no music. Thanks anyway
Macrohoo or that weird lag in the beginning
My first video ever made.. please forgive me..
music louder than u
turn that background music OFF!!
Good info but the music is not so great! Sorry, just sayin!
I later realized this.. so sorry it was my very first video.
dont put music bro
can you remove the music, way too laud, thank for the video though
Bro you do child abuse to a 5 year old
This did not show us how to locate the fill port. Useless
Blimey get rid of the awfull music, its so distracting..your trying to teach people how to make it easier to do car maintenance jobs. And to save money.but theirs know need for music thats so off putting 😮😮😮😮
Thanks I know your concern about the music. Multiple people have pointed it out. This is among the very first video I've ever done. The music is stuck. It's also wonderful to have over 125k views after 6 years. Hate to delete it and start all over down to zero. You can live with the music a bit. It's not that bad when you think about it.. If it's that bad, move on to the next video.
You're only changing about half of the ATF using this method.
Mike M It’s all fine. You just repeat the process frequently until the oil in the transmission get homogeneous, it will get clearer each time you do.
Just do a drain/fill 3x. That will replace 82% of the original fluid. Costs 45 bucks in Trans fluid, but gets better results.
Then just do a drain/fill every 3rd oil change or so.
You contradict yourself talking about an important one such as trans fluid then go on to use generic ass fluid. Factory fluid is the way to go if you actually give a shit.
You can use any compatible fluid that meets Kia specs. For me I have a 07 Rondo which requires SPIII. I use Castrol fluid for foreign cars. The bottle states it is compatible with SPIII. So for me, I'm not paying dealer prices for the same oil
@@kalani1987 The price difference in the fluid is negligible and it's not the same oil.
This is has always been a debatable subject.. I’m of the latter and a cheapskate. So for far I’m winning. Got over 170k on the Sportage now and no sign of slowing down. Perhaps another time for ATF on the way..
Video makes no sense!
Didn't change the filters it's not a service at all. Good luck when they clog up.
There is no serviceable filter.
They dont change the filter at the dealership either
Tailong hi i have a Kia Sportage 2012 lx I went to get my transmission fluid, but they also told me I needed to replace my filter...... how do I do that? It doesn’t have a pan like in other cars. Looks like the transmission is sideways. Also there’s no video on changing filter why?
Turns out i was incorrect, ive serviced the kia cerato a few times now (transmission) and its just a drain and refil, best is to do it twice 2 services in a row because almost half the oil won't drain each time. At the time i posted my original comment, Ryco was selling a transmission kit for it, when I recieved it, it wasnt correct. I believe theyve changed the kit or listing removed now.
