    He’s showing compassion to all the women robbed of the chance to go into birth naturally without good reason. Many doctors make these recommendations to make their lives easy. It’s not okay. Giving birth naturally is so empowering and a mom needs that kind of reassurance in her capabilities. Not to be put on her back, poked and prodded and made an exhibition at this sacred time. It’s really something to think about. Thank you.

    Thank you so much for this video! I just had a similar situation, higher blood pressure, hospital ran the tests, diagnosed with gestational hypertension, no other symptoms, tests came out normal, the docs still really hard tried to convince the induction, while I’m on 37 week. It was so emotional stressful, to feel this fear instead of support. We did say no. God willing the baby will come once he ready without complications

    Where I live, there is no choice but to have a giant team of resident doctors. Even now, at 36 weeks, and high risk, every appointment is like starting over with a new doctor. I never see the same doctor twice. I feel the need to correct and defend the doctors notes that are taken inaccurately at every appointment. My past 2 pregnancies I was induced at 37 weeks with no complications. I have been misdiagnosed with gestational diabetes, I have been sent to triage 4 TIMES for high blood pressures, and every time I am in the hospital I have ZERO high readings. I have been diagnosed with AMA, Gestational diabetes, polyhydramnios, anemia and a handful of other things, including a mental disorder? I was never evaluated for a mental disorder and that diagnoses really bothers me. I want to be induced again because I know my body can handle it and I want to be done with these yo yo doctors asap forever. Womens care in America is a broken system. We are all a number on a government chart. Most of the doctors dont even look at me when they speak to me. You are right, it is out of control, but its not just out of control with unnecessary inductions, the whole system is out of control.

    I recently had my first OB appointment (8 weeks). They said I would have to be induced at 37 weeks due to chronic HTN, despite my BP being good at that visit and it having been well controlled on meds over 5 years now. They didnt even give me a choice and have only seen me once! Im 36 years old, so Im seeing a high risk OB. This video is very helpful and I will be advocating for myself at the next appt. Thank you!!

    I love this! Thank you for advocating for us!! I feel like so many Obgyns treat their patients like they are clueless to pregnancy and birth... When the majority of us have researched a ton and go into it knowing what we want, knowing what outcome we want. At least that's how it was for me.

    My blood pressure was fairly high at my last visit and the nurse said I may have to go to labor and delivery to be evaluated. My doctor said since my blood pressure was usually on the higher side that she’s prescribe a medication that was safe while pregnant and just recommended monitoring. I’m thankful she didn’t rush me into delivering.

    I'm glad to have found this video. I went to the doctor and it's my first baby. The doctor is pushing us to have an induction at 37 weeks. I started finding all these videos now. I asked the doctor if we could wait until the 13th instead of the 10th, and she's like no. My blood pressure is good. I was raised because i went in for a uti one time. A few weeks later, i went and randomly had another one and all of a sudden they're like you have gestational hypertension and we have to induce. I didn't even get a chance to say no.

    Wow I wish I would’ve seen this video 13 days ago. I went to get induced because of gestational hypertension and my body did not respond well at all. My cervix wouldn’t move past 5cm. I went in Thursday and had the baby Saturday. I was getting contractions every minute over a minute long. My baby’s heart rate kept dropping and I was so scared I would lose him so I went in for a c section. Something told me to wait it out but my dr said it was best to be induced so I listened to him. I kinda wish I didn’t but high blood pressure is scary especially while carrying.

    So I am 37 yo and high risk pregnancy, they have replaced the term “advanced maternal age” with ELDERLY. I could not believe it. I would rather be labeled AMA than ELDERLY. 😤 how rude! I asked the dr about it and he said it’s because too many were complaining about the AMA label. He chuckled and said I’m the first to bring that up and that I’d have to take it up with someone who does the coding.... 🙄smh

  • @glamcat7948

    I liked this video and I love your more conservative approach. I'm 39 yo, and am 38 weeks along with my first baby. I had well-controlled high BP before getting pregnant, and since becoming pregnant, my systolic has been good, but sometimes my diastolic will go a high (mid 80's to rarely, low 90's). Labs are always good, and no preeclampsia symptoms. I check my BP twice a day at home, and see my OB twice a week for labs, BP check, and non-stress tests as well as the occasional ultrasound. OB still wants to induce me next week because of my age and history of high BP but I'd rather see if I go into labor on my own as long as all tests keep coming back normal. I think I know what you're going to say, but what are your thoughts on this? I'm worried if they try to induce me when my body isn't ready, that it will fail and I'll end up with a c-section (and I have a problem with delayed healing due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.)

    • @abigailloar956
      @abigailloar956 Před 10 měsíci

      Listen to your intuition. I did and asked them to wait and went into labor naturally at 38 weeks. They gave me induction medications anyway during it and it made everything worse. Before it I could manage my labor pain uneducated. After I couldn't so I got the epidural, then the epidural slowed my contractions to non existence. After 31 hours of them not letting me sleep or eat I was too weak to say no to a cesarean. They would not stop pressuring me simply because they were impatient. I was almost completely dilated when they did it, I was just too weak and distraught to go on. Make sure you have an advocate with you, because they get so pushy you begging to forget what you want and what is right. My cesarean went well but the healing After is torture, and now in my second pregnancy I am dealing with pain from the scar tissue tearing. Stay strong momma

    All 3 of my births were by induction and all vaginal delivery. I’m pregnant now with my 4th and I want to be induced. It’s easier because I know what to expect and able to plan everything by knowing in advance exactly when I’ll be in labor.

    • @jessicabosworth214
      @jessicabosworth214 Před 3 lety +1

      once you've done one vaginally you're more likely to do it again. He's also talking about statistics, there is no one size fits all. It's just that the likelihood of a c-section increases with being induced (especially if it is the first vaginal delivery). It doesn't mean that it'll for sure happen. For people on their first pregnancy hoping to avoid a c-section it makes the most sense to avoid an induction if possible

  • @Yellowblueej
    @Yellowblueej Před 3 lety +1

    It’s cool to have the power to say no but this could be deadly to mom and baby if we just keep baby in there. I’ve heard about women that had a stillbirth because they had hbp at 35 weeks. Too scary.

  • @smOVERCOMINGITALL
    @smOVERCOMINGITALL Před rokem

    I had one pretty high BP reading my entire pregnancy and my OB scared the shit out of me talking about induction in the next few days. i was 34 weeks. i went to the ER for monitoring and pre-eclampsia screening and they found nothing and in fact my blood pressure was perfectly normal at the ER. So the follow up NST my doctor has me do My blood pressure was normal in the 120's over 80's and said my tests all came back normal so no PC BUT they want to still induce me at 37 weeks and have me monitored twice a week until... here's the kicker..THEY DECIDE TO DELIVER ME. their exact words where "until we decide to deliver you." That left a bad taste in my mouth and while ik high BP is a fair concern, i just felt that was over kill. So meanwhile, i'm getting NST twice a week, feeling SUPER anxious about even seeing my doctors with that mentality and while my BP hasn't been the PERFECT 120/80 at my NST it's been in the 130's and they can't "diagnose me with hypertension" yet "we still believe we should schedule an induction at 37 weeks." My BP isn't even reaching past or near 140/90 which is what they told me they consider elevated, even at my at home BP readings which they have me doing everyday. I am just... idk this video came at a great time for me and my situation and now i'm even more concerned they told me 37 weeks and not 38-39. if that was the case i wouldn't be as scared tbh but they are talking if i have another spike like i did before they will "induce me that day" and i'm currently only 35 weeks. while ik baby is likely to be fine hopefully...it's scary tbh. and NOT ONE DOCTOR HAS REASSURED ME OF ANYTHING. not that baby will be fine, not that we might NOT have to induce, that maybe i'm fine. like nothing. they simply do not care.

    • @aliciagabriel23
      @aliciagabriel23 Před rokem +1

      A reading over 120/80 is elevated. 140/90 is dangerous. The fear is lack of proper blood flow to your baby. That's why they induce. Also because elevated blood pressure can lead to preeclampsia, and can lead there in a couple days, even hours, as it did with me. Went to my appointment on a Wednesday, in the hospital Thursday and was induced Friday. It can happen so quickly. Your doctors know what they are doing and wanting your baby and you to stay safe.
