The BMW M5 E60 arrived at our workshop with a multitude of issues, including brake wear indicative of long-term storage and previous unsuccessful repair attempts. The SMG gearbox presented complex problems, compounded by the difficulty of sourcing internal parts.
🛠️ Repair Process:
George meticulously diagnosed three main issues: a faulty pressure compensator, a problematic clutch valve, and a worn clutch plate. Despite initial troubleshooting, including electrical fixes and gearbox calibration attempts, the root cause persisted.
⚙️ Critical Discovery:
After multiple disassemblies, we identified a crucial oversight-a missing spring on the aftermarket clutch plate. Reverting to the original plate and replacing worn components was imperative for successful calibration.
✅ Final Results:
Following careful reassembly and part replacements, including new discs and the original clutch plate, we achieved successful clutch calibration. The BMW M5 E60 is now back on the road, showcasing our commitment to meticulous repair work.
