I went on a KLM 747 between Amsterdam and Houston during a trip to India. Honestly I didn’t care one bit about the age of the plane or the quality. I mainly had picked the KLM 747 because I appreciate beauty and I just enjoyed every moment on the Queen of the Skies. I don’t really care about how old a Boeing 747 is. I will always love her no matter how old she is.
The funny thing about this video is that the reviewer is upset at the age of this aircraft. It's a 747 for crying out loud!! I'm actually looking at these vids because I want to specifically book a flight on the 747 because it's an iconic aircraft. I take from the comments at the end that you are one of those people that pay 300 and expect a first class treatment and since you didn't you will whine to all about it
'entitled' passengers are a real pain in the ass for many airlines. KLM is one of the best airlines there is. And he's still not happy. Maybe he was expecting stewardesses sucking his dick in economy class on a somewhat older 747?

Come on, you only paid 340, that’s nothing for a full service long haul flight like this one. I agree with you that the delay and lack of (safety) announcements definitely are some bad points. However, all the other points you mention, sound pretty spoiled to me. The 747 is a little outdated, but you could know that beforehand if you had made a quick online search. You can also fly Wowair for example. Nothing included, less legroom, probably same price, but at least the IFE is more modern!
Of course it´s a quite cheap fare...but other paxes have paied more than I have paied...it´s just my opinion about the product of KL onboard their Boeing 747.

That's strange the crew did not make any announcements or at least welcome the passengers in any way. I've been on hundreds of flights and have never experienced this. However, I still enjoyed the video.

I need to fly to LA soon. Should you prefer the flight 603? Is that flight more modern? Because it is 11 hours flying with the 603 and it is only 10 hours flying with the 601.
I do not know which aircraft KL uses on their 603 flight :(
The flight number has nothing to do with flying time, the winds aloft have everything to do with how many hours a given flight will take. Westbound flights always take a little longer than eastbound flights because of the jetstream. Westbound flight from AMS to LAX can take as little as 10 hours and can be as long as 12 hours, while the eastbound trip can be anywhere from 9:1/2 to as long 11 hours.
Idk, I would have been fascinated all in all. I know to each their own, but just wow on seeing contrails forming!! And I'm not sure about what you said. There was no safety video, but was there a safety demonstration? Bc if so, the video is not necessary. I once read an article that talked about that, about how some airlines prefer videos over demonstrations because it captures best the attention, while others prefer the classic demo bc it preserves the seriousness of a safety demonstration. Some others will prefer a combination of both, but that's a different story. And maybe you could have asked for a little more food if you were still hungry.

I'm flying LAX to Amsterdam next month and watching this video kind of killed my vibe lol I always fly with air france and they got the A380 super updated and fancy and now seeing this video made me anxious about the 25 yrs old plane
Does Airfrance still fly with the A380 to LAX and reverse? I was trying to check for a flight this year but it keep showing me that Delta will do the flight with a Boeing..
@@Amsterdam1012 do not fly with a Boeing please. I flew over 80 times. Air france always always always always uses Airbus. Air France and Lufthansa they strictly use brand new air buses. Paris to LAX 90% is an A380.

Hi Andreas,
at DUS you have the A, B and C Gates! If you arrive at B you need around 5 up to 10 minutes max. to get to A or C!

I can totally understand that you are disappointed. I had a flight with the 747 for 8 hours back from my vacation and was really excited, because it was my first time flinging 747. The cabin was really old, tight and the entertainment system slow, complicate and the screen was really terrible, even at night. I decided to read and listen to music. It was a good experience to meet the queen of the sky, but also a good experience to know: we can be happy that we left the 90's behind us:)

My 747 that I was on San Francisco to Seoul on United only had personal entertainment, though I was in business class. No power outlets, or anything, the only place that had seatback entertainment, was first and business class. Sadly United retired their 747s and are getting boring old 777-300s !

I went to Mauritius in Air France and it was a horrible experience, you coudn't charge your phoner, laptop.......... the screen was the smallest I've ever seen, it was so uncomfortable, I'm not a claustrophobic person but it was a bit claustrophobic and the flight was 11-12 hours.

Nice too see our dutch coastline :-). Its sad to say but all the klm 747 airplanes are going to the scrapyard before 2021 and will be replaced by the boeing dreamliner.
Ja willem ik weet het ik vind het het mooiste vliegtuig dat er is en kwa ontwerp zijn tijd ver vooruit alsof hij gisteren is ontworpen en nog jaren vooruit kan maar helaas.

It looks like you just got a bad/old plane because I went to New York from Amsterdam in a 747 and it was very up to date and it was one of the best lights I have ever had and it was with KLM. I believe the plane was made in 2017 so was a practically new plane.
its a very old technik inside. you can not take evan a usb port. they must uploaded all economy and all the others in this big plane... no internet no usb cabel useing....

It's so sad, i should be flying the 747 today to los angeles, but unfortunatelly because of the corona virus its cancelled and the whole 747 line is retired.
I like the video, yet you would think that KLM would do upgrades to their economy cabins in this day and age. Looks like it was very uncomfortable.

KLM is discarding their 747's gradually. The cost to upgrade them is therefore a waste.

The reason Why the Klm 747 is so outdated is because They are retiring the 747 and replace it for the New 787. So it actually would be weird to spend thousands of dollars on a plane to Renew it, when it Will be retired soon

Dutch Aviation when I went on a KLM 747 two years back I didn’t care one bit about how old the plane is, or how the plane is less modern. I was just so happy and emotional to be on the Queen of the Skies, and that just erased any thoughts about how aging the plane is. It was actually kinda nice to be stepping back in time into the 1990s when riding on. I love the 747 with all my heart.

Why have you taken your shoes off that just makes the people around you uncomfortable and could possibly give odors from your feet making other peoples journey worse.
I think it´s normal to take off the shoes on a 10h long haul flight and most of the passengers do so..
