Nice trip report, I always like to fly with KLM, but you're right the seats in Economy class are not good for long flights.
The old KLM seats were a lot better in that regard.
Soon I will fly with KLM to Curaçao in Business Class.

I’ve got the E seat on the left of the first row of three , in front of where you were, just behind the row of four, for my flight to AMS in September.
I’m hoping I can stretch my legs sideways.
Sounds like the food is good, but seats are thin cushions!

you have a connection but how busy was it since the busy hell started
it was not busy at all. Immigration to the US: approx. 5 minutes and no waiting time
walking distance from Tom Bradley int. terminal to Delta Terminal: 5 minutes
Security Check: 10 minutes
