It's so dumb. January 26th is just the date of the arrival of the first fleet, fighting didn't take place until several months after because Arthur Phillip had ordered that the indigenous people be well treated when they arrived, but the indigenous tribes didn't like the settlers clearing land and taking resources etc and started attacking them (first), even after the first attack Phillip attempted to avoid contact. The first actual organised offensive by the Brits (what people consider the massacres, most of which were actually just military defeats) didn't take place until several years after when the British farms kept getting attacked. So i fail to see how January 26th represents the genocide of the Aboriginal people.
Why can't more Aussies see that too i'm sick of whiny Aussies pretending to care about what happened 200 years ago, No one walks around on Australia day thinking "oh this is the great day we killed abos" no we celebrate Australia day because it was the birth of our home.
