The quitting framework was really interesting. It takes the emotion out of what can be a really emotional decision for most people. I was in this position around this time last year. What helped me was reading books about fear and worry, and taking 2 weeks annual leave and spending some of that time contemplating whether I would stay or quit my job. I ended up quitting my job of 4 years. Afterwards, I returned to study for a semester and then found an entry-level job in my industry of choice. I'm happier and more optimistic about the future than I've ever felt.

This video is so helpful for me right now. I'm super unhappy in a position that pays really well, is challenging, good colleagues,, but it's in a city I hate, unorganised and underesourced. I can take a huge pay cut to move home and pivot across to consulting (Im an engineer), but have full flexibility to pursue other things outside of work. I'm definitely at the 90% but wanting the 100%, and staying with "The Devil I know". I need the quantitative reasoning to help me make decisions, and you really helped! :)
As someone who is into online tutoring, the high you get after a particularly good class is worth it! Working on promoting my edu start up is really satisfying as it also helps me pursue my other interests in public policy, so it will all work out in the end. Good luck man!
It's so interesting that during my research for this career I came across so many consultant CZcamsrs who hyped up the life, and then after a few months passed they'd post how they quit/left. Just goes to show in-depth research is important cause if I just watched the videos that showed they were happy then I would still believe I wanted this career.
Yeah so true Emily. But I would say that everyone had a different experience with it, and consulting is a good place to learn things early on in your career. But if you do research into lots of careers and consulting still seems like it’s not for you then that’s probably a good indicator!

Haha thanks Linda! I find those big life decisions so hard to make, but I've realised so does everyone. Sometimes when I think about them now, it genuinely is the 51% decision making rule which I mentioned in the video that I use. Most of the time I realise I am way more than 51% certain about something, I'm just scared because I don't have 100% !

In general, management consulting deals with how businesses are managed and operated, and strategy consulting deals with which markets the business might operate him, how they position themselves within that market, what the value they are offering is etc and things like that. I just watched a video of another consultant that had 100k a year starting salary out of college. Is the income in the Uk that much lower or is it more the firm you are consulting for?
Yeah it's definitely lower in the UK but I also had a lower salary than the big consulting firms like McKinsey or BCG, they would be closer to 50-60k graduate salary

It's the average salary in the whole of the UK, so I see it as a great salary. To be earning the average salary of anyone in the country straight out of university at 22-24 years old is kind of crazy. It's all perspective though obviously, depends on what you need or want
