Unfortuonelly its not happened with intention.Since release of Gw 2 A-net put Gw 2 to different molds for see which one gonna gather more players. They went to casual route, hardcore route,it become a raid centric game, meta centric, pvp centric and all those failed ideas left to rot and in current times we got a missmatch pile of puzzle pieces and some sees this as art and others see as garbage.I for one wanting Gw3 to be real so Arena net can trim this dead weight from their back and start a new.

FOr me GW2 is a relaxing MMO. I can do as little or as much as I want. One benefit I like about the game is that if I want to "pause" the game I have 2 options. Either fly up to a rock and chill while I go do something or I can just log off no matter where I am at on the map. You don't lose progress or risk all of your stuff being stolen.

GW2 is a game I love dearly but I can never stick with for too long. I’ll jump in, play for a month or three, then stop and not touch it again for a year. Then some bit of news catches my eye, I relaunch it, and I’m wondering why I left because it’s fun.
My two pain points for the game are
    - legendary gear is so useful that I end up saving everything for the never coming day I’ll be able to get it, and any expense in between feels like a setback.
    - festivals and their daily stuff eat away at my limited time to play and get repetitive, but their rewards are juicy enough to want to keep at it, leading to burning out on them.
Still, it’s a game I intend to keep playing and I’m looking forward to Janthir.

    Great video!
2 misconceptions I would add to the list.
    1. There is no holy trinity: This doesn't mean there are no roles in the game. This means that the class by itself doesn't get categorized into the tank/healer/dps. But once you get to instanced contents, the filling of healer/support/dps roles becomes kind of recommended, which comes from a combination of your class/traits/gear.
    2. Gw2 is a game for casuals: This doesn't mean the game has no endgame/hard content. There are still plenty challenging modes in the game, but they are completely optional. Don't wanna do it? Don't do it. Wanna challenge yourself? Go for it. The best farms are not part of those contents anyway

GW2 is so nice cause you can just focus on what you want to do without feeling FOMO. Like today, I just felt like exploring the Canthas map and fishing around to see what I can get instead of trying to catch up with story line (which can be exhausting due to how much there are) or grinding seasonal events.

Hello I've watched a couple of your videos since I'm kinda new to this game, you basically helped me on most of my decision so far into my playtrough, thanks!
If you are ever interested about a noob/new player feedback I'll give you mine, if not just don't or read TLDR at the end.
I've been playing on and off for about 3 months, i'm around 150 hours in and I've had a blast, did not really had much of a problem in open world finding people to do stuff and I'm not even in a guild yet I simply find people on the map so game does not feel dead at all.
It's a chill game if you are not stressing about it, the strongest point of this game is really the progress system and you do not feel forced to log in everyday, which is great to retain people that actually does not have that much time to play, you can also probably find something to do if you want to grind 24/7 I assume, but not feeling forced to log in due to no subscription method and no downgrade of progress seems really valuable to consider into MMORPG games.
I'm used to MMORPGs in general and this is by far the best in the casual aspect and gives you a lot of freedom on what you want to progress your account towards, like, ANY goal you set in mind.
While if I had to say something that I find kind of a negative for this game imo is exactly that freedom that kinda force you to do research on your own in order to actually get it done (whatever it may be, achievements, mounts, npc locations), there's people that does not really wanna do something else besides playing and maybe the game should give you a little bit more insight on where to find something/someone or how to do/unlock something, the only thing that is straightforward is the story quest, and everything else is not really laid in front of you as an option unless you ask yourself the question.
Overall I like the game and I will keep playing it on and off when I have time, I was skeptical of starting the game after so many years it was out, then I find out that most of the progress is horizontal instead of vertical, so even if you are late you can just get what YOU feel like it's essential and you are pretty much set.
    My new player experience TLDR:
Game is great overall, horizontal progress is a great choice, you can try it for free if you like you buy if not you go, freedom is good and bad at the same time only real directions from the game is main story quests everything else it's up to your homework, you can play it on and off and still feel the progress.

Raids and particularly mythic raiding aren't grinding, that thing is just a chore, which feels like a second job. They are a product of the e-sport mentality which infiltrated mmo's 20/10 years ago, when passing 10h a day e-socializing, specially through audio comms was considered a cool a nice thing.
At this point everyone is burnout with digital socialization. Apart of some old folks that have plenty of time in their hands and played together for years, almost everyone just wants to log and have 1/2h of fun, which many times includes the old simple grinding, casual pvp, or quick instanced pve.
Traditional mmo's failled big time understanding that, even when everyone knows that a big chunk of their traditional playerbase is +30 yo and don't have time to fool around all day long, to in the end of the day spend 3/4h prepping and running tyresome long raids.

  • @EnzoVinZ
    @EnzoVinZ Před 7 dny +1

There's no such thing as "Best in slot" in GW2 -- there are tons of combinations that are good and many more undiscovered. The addition of weapon mastery opens up the possibilities even more. So, if you created a legendary Greatsword -- that's not useable if you have a Thief, for example. And even if you created a legendary sword for your Thief, that's not the best in slot gear given that you can swap weapons to daggers and pistols. That's the reality of grinding for legendaries -- you'll just have to get them all.

I've played GW2 very casually on and off for a few years, and I definitely had misconceptions about the grind!
I put off even just getting the skyscale (the old way, I haven't gotten SOTO yet) until only a few months ago because the sheer amount of Stuff you had to do seemed overwhelming. Then I did it, and it wasn't nearly so bad as I thought. Sure, still a lot to do, and a lot of running around, but it didn't feel tedious. I liked that there was a lot of variation in the steps; you're not necessarily grinding in the sense of doing the same thing over and over. And now I have it, it was definitely worth it and doesn't seem nearly so painful in hindsight lol.
Of course, that's probably not even remotely grindy compared to the other stuff... one day I'll consider tackling a legendary... xD

  • @irispounsberry7917

Interesting topic. Just adding my 2 cents...
**Play for free**: I still don't consider it a 'trial' since you can get to max level and participate in endgame activities - PvP, WvW, and fractals. Will you be running meta builds? Probably not, but it is still possible (and with skill based combat, it is technically possible to win even). Even FFXIV admits its free account option is a trial as it doesn't include the latest expansions (for obvious reasons)
**Ghost town**: not any different than other MMOs, at least with horizontal progression and rotating zone dailies there's a good chance of running into players in any zone, unlike previous expansion content in vertical progression games
**Chosen grind**: yeah... just how many times do players have to run a single piece of content (often long raids) for a BiS gear piece to drop AND for them to win the loot roll? At least with GW2's grinds - for the most part - I can incrementally build up to whatever my target gear piece is doing whatever content I want... and often doing content that furthers other goals in parallel, like gathering crafting materials for legendary sigils while working on achievements for the PvE legendary amulet. Granted, I think the game could use an in-game custom checklist feature (beyond just putting specific achievements on the UI) to help keep track of overlapping goals buried in the achievement panel, but other games don't have that either.
**Put the game down**: if there weren't lulls in the content, when would people ever have time to run map completion for legendary weapon crafting /s ?! In all seriousness though, in my experience most of the 'lack of content' crowd only do one of the game modes and never touch the others. I think they'd be surprised if they branched out how much stuff there actually is to do in the game. WvW can be run mostly like PvE if you know what to focus on, as an example, so it is not even that difficult for casual players to get into the competitive content if they set their expectations accordingly to their skill level.

Honestly speaking GW2 is the number one "Secondary MMORPG" on the market. This is a huge advantage if you think about it.
As a prime example, I rotate between multiple "Primary" mmos, but I always dip back into GW2 at least 3 - 5 times a week.
Overall, this has lead me to play GW2 for the longest period over any "Primary" mmo, since GW2 is always played every week, unlike my "Primary" mmos.
Keep it up Arena-Net, we see you, all the recent changes and yearly expansion release isn't going un-noticed. 👍

I always hop on your videos and click the like button but I've noticed lately, it takes several clicks and sometimes even a refresh for that to register.
The dead MMO meme is pretty funny. When I play XIV or WoW, I see more dead zones than in GW2, but its due to design, most players will go to where the game wants them to. For example, both WoW and XIV are both vertical so of course, players are in the new main hub at max level and new expansion zones. For GW2, its all horizontal, so they all gravitate towards wherever the big meta is happening or where the money is.
P.S Staff Wizard Ele is back, give that nonsense a try! Lol, people reporting over 44K DPS on the target dummy.

  • @Royal.Grand.Majesty

In regards to your "Chosen Grind" section of the video. Not going to lie, GW2 grind for the best gear "Legendary" is probably the longest grind of any mmo, per piece of item.
The major difference is, this gear is a permanent upgrade for your account "Indefinitely". Where-as your typical vertical progression mmos have much shorter grinds, but the important part is that these upgrades are "Temporary." Having being reset upon reaching the next expansion. TLDR; [Shorter] Never ending gear treadmill vs [Longer] Permanent unlock.

I've tried playing this game a few times. Never got past lv25 :( For me, a good game must have 3 things: Gameplay (which was ok, not much of a fan of skills being locked to weapons and not the class) Soundtrack (so far so good, liked everything I've heard) and Story. Well, the story is the main problem here. I'm a completionist so of course I would like to complete 100% of every single zone, but I also want to know about the lore of each zone, reading the quests. But there is no quest xD That "heart quest" you don't even have to talk to the NPC to complete it, so why would I waste my time on any zone if I can just rush my leveling somehow? Or just use the boost I have (don't know where it comes from). I know we get some depths in the story late game and/or via those seasonal things and the expansions. But early game feels so empty and without life to me :/

There is no organization to anything, nothing is in Order of Head, shoulders, chest, or even in Alphabetical...
Open a Box, it may be Foot, Chest, Gloves, Head, Pants...
Transmute can't just apply any look to any gear. I see great Pants, but I can't wear them because they are Medium Armor... NO THEY"RE PANTS. It's a joke, when comparing to Star Trek Online or RIFT with customization.
Stats are not in normal game lingo, CritD is Ferocity or something.
Coming from Guild Wars 1, it was Guild Wars in Name Only...
Things bought in the Store are not reclaimable, so for instance Unbreakable Gathering tools are only claimable on 1 character, Unless you also buy more Account Storage Slots, so at least you can share between your toons.
Hate HATE all the currencies & having to Store some Keys but not all Keys are Currency.
Nothing tells you what it's used for, where to get more, where to spend, the Wiki is a must.
The game feels old school hard.
Pros is it's SUPER Cheap, even at one point ALL the DLC was $19.99, & frequent sales too.
Loads of content for low price.
Thankfully, since it's been out for 10+ years, there's loads of video & walkthroughs that are still correct, because with out them, it's NOT fun.

He just put his random gameplay that didn't suited with what he narrated,. when he narrated about free to play aspect, he should have shown the base content instead doin rift or flying with skyscale at nayos. Rift and skyscale isn't on free to play content. and when he talked about the game isnt dead, he need to proof to the audience that really show the game is still alive. it could be meta event footage, world boss, or wvw zerk. instead, he just showed footage when he fought hero challenge and story. that didn't match anything with what he said. this make it even worse for people who dont play the game, because the footage only showed his character, mobs and some NPC. no other players around
