the amount of research notes needed is depressing
it is a bit crazy, althrough it is essentially just a gold sink. Smash it out in an evening and forget about the gold you just deleted and youll be fine! probably.
Bro it takes 7mins to get all the research notes needed. Wtf are people on about. Just buy pots from the tp and salvage stacks with the research salvager

thx for this!! research notes are annoying but I remind self that it keeps the high quantity mats like silk and mithril thati have a billion stacks if and goes super cheap on tp useful again 😂 I spent a while the other night crafting stuff to get research notes while watching yt, churned out 6k in one go to buy the 2 pre armor sets. it's gonna be interesting churning out enough for the obby armor now! 😂
yes! I do the same thing, as annoying as they can be, they are fantastic for the game's economy so I don't really mind.
it's just a game, for heaven's sake! it's turned into a career.

EDIT: I do have to say tho' that I shall not be doing the enormous grind that this armour represents. I left LOTRO after 12 years because of gear grind, so I shall not be taking on a gear grind that is entirely voluntary in GW2 :wards off evil: If I need ascended level stats armour I shall make it when I need it - the Legendary QoL perks *are* nice but nowhere near enough to justify the price.
That's what nice about GW2 Legendary doesn't give You an advantage, but make life easier, nothing more. It's nice that You can choose to never make one, or to make one little by little at Your own pace.

Agree legendary stats should be a tier above, even if a small percentage would be nice reward aside from the other perks. Plus it’s permanent so it’s not really an annual or per xpac grind, unless you’re a fashion collector… excuse me a moment the wardrobe is calling me.
Watched this because of the guide but stared at your character's current outfit because that chest armor with the cape+pin looks dope. What is it called?
ikr I have really fallen in love with the shoulders skin they go with almost everything as well, thats what the scarf looking thing and pin is. they are called "Ebon Pauldrons" the chest is from the "Rift Hunter" set i go over how to get this set in this video actually :P
Question, so to craft the gift of astral ward. The map completion reward. You will need alt character for it to craft a full set of weight legendaries? 6 character for a full set of legendaries?
nope! only 1 character is required. once you have map completed, you can then light all the lanterns scattered around the map for another gift, and this is infinitely repeatable on a single character. once you have completed all lanterns, just reload the map and they will all be unlit and you can do it again. there's even more options for the inner nayos map as well that I go over in the vid 😊
It's worth noting that Provisioners tokens are no longer time gated and can be bought with research notes.

ooo thanks for mentioning! This is actually a pretty big change to provisioner tokens, a truely non timegated method of acquisition. Although looks like they are NOT cheap, 300 research notes each means 90,000 notes for 300 tokens (enough for a set of obsidian armor) which even with the cheapest current research notes prices is over a thousand gold. I guess just for those who are willing to throw obscene money around to skip some simple daily routine stuff

Good thing subsequent sets of armor cost less as you dont have to unlock the precursors. Still have to buy them ofc.
yeah Im almost done doing the medium set and I think I'll probably at least get the light set as well at some point. been loving the grind. only reason I might not get all 3 sets is I already got the heavy raid armor

I've been getting my kryptis essences semi passively just by doing weekly rift hunting trains (using motivations) and convergences as often as I can, at least 3 times a week. and I am getting close now. Its not too bad if you enjoy the soto content like I do. Remember you always have other options for legenendary armor if you dont enjoy farming rifts! :)

One suggestion for doing rifts is using an open world builds or alt characters which you don't use often. Sometimes, learning how a build or a class works as you do the rifts really helps with the monotony. You can do this!!! Get that quality armor!@@dingo.p

Does anyone know how many red green and yellow essences do you get on average by doing the weekly rifts and the 3 convergences?
I haven't unlocked Convergences and the masteries for rifts and wondering how long the essence timegate will take for each piece after I do.
it took me roughly a few months (maybe like 3-5mo) farming pretty casually, weekly rift trains with motivations, and a handful of convergences a week with masteries to get all my kryptis essence for 1 set
Honestly the worst part is getting all those research notes
Just buy svanier potion and use research kit to salvage them

You can get the research notes for all 3 sets done within an hour. It's just a gold sink. Idk why people always complain about them

Most likely because they didn't know the efficient way to get them. The game does a bad job of explaining it. I didn't know you could just buy crafted potions and use them until I looked up a guide. Then yeah you're right, it's just a standard gold sink. No big deal.
The armour art for medium looked amazing and then the actual armour doesn’t look like it 😞
for me, I think the biggest change was in the concept art for the medium, it had a very dark shadowy look behind the mask, but ingame you can just see the characters head clearly behind the mask. I think it still looks pretty cool tho, but I am waiting to see what the teir 2 variants look like with the next patch. they might look even cooler than the concept art!
@@iEatyouLOL yeah I have the chest piece and am currently working on the head. I already have mostly pvp legendary armour so I only needed chest head and gloves. So I doubt I’ll ever go full set
As a new player not fully understanding all of this yet. Would it be worth going for ? 😅 or is there some better ways to get endgame gear
for legendary armor, my opinion is the best set to go for is the gamemode you enjoy the most. You can get them through raids, wvw, pvp, and now open world pve. The competive gamemode ones are probably the most straightforward to get, but obviously requires you to play a lot of that gamemode. So if you love pvp or wvw then definitely go that route, but if you hate those gamemodes youre just gonna burn yourself out and have a shit time.
For me, I love open world pve a lot so even though it might have been a tad more work to get compared to the competitive options, it felt a lot easier since its basically just doing content I would be doing anyway. So just try out different gamemodes and go for the legendary set in whatever gamemode you enjoy the most, and youll enjoy your legendary grind the most.
If you are just an open world player you really don't need a legendary.
what a strange take lol, you really dont NEED legendary items no matter what content you enjoy. They are famously zero increase in power level compared to ascended gear and provide you with nothing you cant get without them except for convenience.@@Dark_Wizard_of_Mu

unfortunately not, this is content from the latest expansion "secrets of the obscure" youll need that one in order to get this armor

it's arguably the most involved legendary set since it requires no competitive gamemodes or interaction with any other players really. but if you are not a fan of the competitive gamemodes, getting those legendary sets is gonna feel like a hell of a lot more of a grind 😜
I only like heavy armor, but I have the pvp one already, I want the medium raid one is better as medium, I have all of the wvw light one but not completed as its long to get skirmish tickets are the things holding it time gated,. I have the pvp medium also but nit making it legendary just have the skin because frankly raid one is better light is a disappointment...
I got the collections for the heavy set only after finishing the story. what do I have to do to unlock light and medium armor collections?
if you're talking about those precursor sets, the oneiros spun set and astral ward set, unlocking one weight of them unlocks the other two weights as well so you only need to buy 1 set.

heh yea you need so many. personally I traded a gen 3 legendary for a bunch of ecto to get all mine. so haven't needed to worry about them

how long does it take to collect all these items ? let´s say i would play at least 2 hours a day ?
hard to say especially since some items like mystic clovers kinda depend on how long you've been playing or what methods of acquisition you go with for how fast you can get them. one of the main material sinks are the kryptis essence tho and for those, if you do the weekly rift hunting using motivations and convergences a handful of times a week you're probably looking at very roughly a few months to get em all. could be longer if you're doing it more casually. definitely could be shorter if you're going hard and not scared to chuck some gold at it.

So tell me, how do you grind through 6820384 chak garents? I really can't be bothered. I'd rather do dhuum 500 times than sit in front of a wall waiting for some chests for over 30 times to get my chak eggs...
Or doing verdant brink for more than two times....
you don't need to do any chak garents for this armor. if you're talking about getting provisioner tokens, there are many other options to getting those. check out the link in description for a full provisioner token guide

@@Apoz ah! well I guess my secret is I enjoy chak garent. I already had more than enough chak eggs before I even knew I needed them for the armor and I've done it a lot more than 30 times since then too lol.
also with the wall, most people aren't just literally sitting there staring at the wall for 10 mins, it's a great time for a lil break or stretch. and those who do stay there are usually having a nice chat with others in the map and before you know it the wall is open

not a problem at all if you dont enjoy them. Its just another path to gain legendary armor that we didnt have before. if you enjoy the other methods then they will be best for you. personally I enjoy rift hunting so thats best for me @@missk1697

This looks incredibly cheap compared to raid armor but SO. MUCH. MORE. GRIND.
it's nothing crazy, I'm almost done with my first set and have barely done any crazy grinding just chilling out and doing weekly rift trains and a handful of convergences each week. I've got the heavy raid armor and I would definitely choose to grab another obsidian set rather than raid armor for my third set and I even enjoy raiding.
this legendary armor legit hurts my head in comparison to the others, I wish they kept it simple like gen 2
Well, to me, gaming has something to Do with having fun. And this is Not fun, it is terrible. If i Tried it, i would be fed up with the game within a few weeks. So, no thanks.
I'm a huge advocate of doing what you enjoy with this game. it's fantastic you identified this and didn't try force yourself to do it anyway!
Think about it this way, there are 4 sets of legendary armor, if you ever wanted to do, you can chose any of those, you arent forced to do just one thing. Second, this is a really long term project that's expected to be done over months, not something you grind out in a day, you chip away at it slowly and taking rests, little by little. Finally, it's extremely rewarding once you actually finish it, it's a whole accomplishment and a sign of respect, it's like those old games that hid good content behind achievements instead of selling you the good content with microtransactions. The fact that you actually have to play the game and engage with it's systems deeply makes you gain an insight to the depth and nuances of the design and experience, and it's really fascinating to do.
provisioner tokens? really? out of all the items they could've chosen, they picked friggin provisioner tokens?
they are essentially instead of a gift of battle which would mean you have to do wvw which would mean they aren't fully open world pve armor so I'll take the provisioner tokens myself
It’s really easy to get tokens, by just doing all of the merchant you can roughly get 25 tokens a day, meaning by just under two weeks, you’ll have more than enough tokens to get your armor. Far better than the five weeks or more during HoT days
@@Jacksontruman92 Yea, no... I'm a bit tired of everything being time-gated for no good reason. Provisioner tokens especially (for me at least) are some of the most boring and unrewarding things imaginable.
my greatest issue is how many gifts of mats i need like i think its 3 times more then spvp where 90% of spvp legendary can be obtained by putting minimal effort into actually playing... join ranked play badly have toxic players scream abuse while you just have chat box set to not show people, dance abit, maybe drop a joke or too and just take the piss out of the most toxic game mode... i think people would be suprised how much funnier pvp becomes when you legit stop caring about it and knowing youll still eventually get that legendary
Just get the WvW set, it's a pain but far easier than this set. It might take the longest but far and away the easiest.
Even the pvp armor is faster.
this sort of grinding is what keeps me away from GW2..
you're building your own hurdles my brother. this grind is entirely optional and is for those who want to do it in order to get some of the hardest teir of items in the game. this isn't a representation of the general gameplay

yea exotic gear is absolutely more than enough to clear even the hardest content in the game which is laughably easy to obtain these days. ascended is a bit overrated tbh, its just a slight increase in stats for a large ammount of extra work most of the time for those who want to minmax. But yea if you want the ultimate quality of life that is legendary gear then you will need to put in the work to unlock legendary :) @@Myrmexx

if you're like me getting all limited items from the vault every season you definitely don't want to be leaving 20 clovers on the table every season
