@@michenorman7347 My friend, killing innocent Israeli or Palestinian is a war crime and should be condemned equally. No one should support terrorism, but I beg you for once to imagine the cruelty against these poor people (not the terrorists) in the past decades.
Imagine a morning you wake up to find out your land is not yours anymore and that you will never be a citizen of a country - not even a passport. Imagine anyone from any nationalities can move to your land and become its new citizens just because of their religion - anyone but you. Imagine another country occupies your lands against the recognized borders by the UN for decades and no countries in the west has the courage or sympathy to even raise an eyebrow. Imagine no one cares when the that country kills your women and children here and there through all these years, but then they all go mad when this happens the other way.
If we can imagine all these with an open mind, then my friend, we are one step closer to understanding the root of terrorism in the Middle East, and what this old fellow has been trying to prevent.

I mean it's a war right? This is why you do not support a government that goes around raping women, beheading non believers, and calling for the elimination of a neighboring country. War is hell, it has always been that way. During WWII Hitler indiscriminately bombed England with the goal of defeating the British by killing as many civilians as possible. EVERY war in history (from pre-Roman to what's going on in the Ukraine) takes a toll on civilians, in fact it has always been a strategy, because it puts pressure on the government to never ever conduct reckless and aggressive foreign policies. It's incentive for the population to NOT support (vote for or tolerate) radical leaders who are intent on igniting wars. It's perversely an incentive to find peace. Why did a country like the US support the use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam war? Once you're in the war the reality of the situation tends to punch you directly in the face. This modern view that civilians should always be protected is a beautiful hallucination. Even the US has never won a war with that philosophy. It's not a thing! Is that what Putin is doing with the Ukraine???? Throughout history we've done the exact opposite to end wars faster. Benjamin Netanyahu is a psychopath, and the settlements in Palestinian lands needs to stop, BUT I'm getting old now and the type of world the Muslim world is offering: where people can be killed for negative comments about imperfect religious figures, or a religion that condones the stoning of women for not wearing face coverings, or that supports killing family members who decide to convert, or that promotes the beheading of non believers, or basically any metastatic cultural philosophy is not something that I can support. I don't want to live in a society where it is impossible to change my mind or defy the religious authorities. There is a cancer in the Islamic world and it seems that the entire world is blind to it. I don't support everything Israel does, but in time Benjamin Netanyahu will be long gone, but Sharia law will go on for centuries to come. Many people find kinship with other oppressed people, but to me, after seeing the Twin Towers come down on September, 11th of 2001....and the slaughter of innocent children on October 7th of last year....NEVER AGAIN! I pray for the children in Gaza, I pray for the innocent, but the problem is and will always be the murderers, the leaders of Hamas, not Israel! As for Sanders...He's an old fool with communist tendencies. Everything he believes in is rooted in Boomer 70's ideology, which was revolutionary at the time, but now seems old, idiotic, and dangerous.

      @alexmost166 Před 14 dny

@goyoelburro I'm pretty sure I'm more informed than someone who says "per capita, there are more..." that's more enigmatic than Agatha Christie plot.
To your question, yes I'm familiar with Palestinan history to a much greater extent than you are I'm guessing. Let's review the comparison. The Nazis developed a theory of racial hierarchy, in the bottom they had the Jews, which they systemically collected from all over Europe and exterminated almost all of them, 6 millions by killing them, and the rest run away and never returned. At the time, Jewish people were fully integrated in the country, were model citizens, even served in the German military in World War One.
Let's examine Palestinian history. Under the Ottoman empire, Palestinians never established a nationality and were governed like the rest of the Ottoman empire by executive loyalists that saw themselves culturally and of stature of, you guest it, Ottomans. Palestinians were local arabs that lived in the region, not different from Jordanians or Syrians. Around the 1890s started a wave of legal migration of Jews into the area. After and during the first World War, Palestinians and Jews on the land, now occupied by the British Empire, were promised a free independent land of their own. Jewish migration grew, through the purchasing of lands, drying the swamps and revitalizing the deserts. The population started clashing as Jewish migration started threatening the Arab majority and by the 1940s, plans for Britain to leave and the league of nations later the UN to recognize two separate free states. Israel agreed, Palestinians refused and waged war against the newly recognized country. In that war about 700k Palestinians were displaced. After the war, Jordan and Egypt held the West Bank and the Gaza strip respectively and if you open a book or maybe old records you'll note, the Palestinians saw themselves as Jordanian and Egyptians alike. This lasted until 1967 when Egypt and Jordan and Syria again waged war on Israel, and more displaces locals and carnage ensued. It is unfortunate that Israel did not return those lands back then, but with the threat of two strong military powers at the time, right at the border, they could not afford to weaken their hold of strategic land, namely hill tops, river banks and other natural geographical barriers. Only after the two peace agreements with Egypt and Jordan, Israel could confidently discuss the return of lands. That was towards the Oslo accords. But it's important to remember that as just as the Palestinian struggle of independence war, years of terrorism has alienated a large percentage of the population in Israel and the idea of peace with those who promise to destroy them was almost unbearable. Any act of resistance meant the prospect of peace for Palestinians drifted apart. Cut to today, hostility between two sides grew with each war, each attack each engagement. The Palestinians deserve a country, but they need to demonstrate and ability to live in peace. Israel, not doing enough to stop illegal settlers expanding into the West Bank, but only an agreement of peace can give them the backing they need internally to displace the settlements out of the West Bank. Israel did it in Gaza, did it in Sinai and can do it again. Through negotiations, not violence or global defamation and incitement.
So what do you think? I'm unfamiliar with the conflict? Are you not convinced until I'm mention every massacre, every war violation and fight from the 20s to today? Because I can cite both sides, there's no end to the accusations. But between a legitimate conflict with merits and consequential circumstances to the Holocaust - there is a day and night. It is uncomperable. In scale, in malice, in intent, in methodology, in global attantion. Uncomperable.

@@goyoelburrodo you not think people can be educated and still come to different conclusions in social science? I was a history major and rule #1 of historiography, imho, is expecting that people's biases and sources will inevitably lead them to different interpretations of the facts. To your example, for instance, that Gaza is worse death toll per capita, I would argue that in just the Warsaw Ghetto alone, about 390,000 of its 460,000 Jews were killed. I'm not saying that justifies anything, but to me it illustrates the fallacies in your assertion that someone who doesn't agree with you must be uneducated. If you went to college and they taught you there's only one educated opinion on History, then your professors failed you.

Completely unverifiable statement. He seems like a nice man, he has a sharp wit, but his views on many subjects are rather simplistic.
I believe in God's Sovereignty over all of human history. I believe that he sometimes gives people what they want or sdeserve, rather than what is best for them, because they are so resistant to the best.
Right now you've got two unappetizing choices. Need one say more about Trump after seeing all the indictments against him? He should have been jailed for rape long ago. However no one seems to take that crime very seriously.
Also many Americans (many humans in fact) revere money. They assume that a man must be rich because of some inherent cleverness or virtue.
(James 5:1) 'Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries which are coming upon you.'
Come to think of it, being rich has its liabilities.
Biden is another nice guy who means well, but I fear that ehe is ruled mote by expediency than by principle.
It took him far too long to call out the lawless behavior and anti-Semitic rhetoric on campuses.
Also I suspect that his support for abortion, which contradixts the teachings of his religion, is based on expediency
While I would not deny anyone the standard exceptions, which I think arise from compassionate concern, I also think that
Democratic and general public support for abortion stems from
moral callousness and a culture of extreme sexual permissiveness. The victims are typically women and children, while the men (or dogs) can simply run away from any situation which threatens them with responsibility. Of course they are going to support abortion. They might even portray themselves as knights in shining armor, the better to capture a few fluttering hearts.
Then there are the so-called 'doctors' and pharmaceutical companies who profit from this cult of invisible, sanitized, state-sanctioned death.
Numerically speaking, Gaza is small potatoes by comparison.
Bill Maher was exactly right when he saiud that abortion is mostly an economic issue. It's about 'f---ing for free' as Americsnd' inalienable right.
As believers in the welfare State, which i endorse as a major advance in modern statecraft, they should subsidize 'girls in terouble' so that they will not feel compelled to abort.
I do blieve fervently ina woman's right to say 'no' toa man qgo is begging, pleading, or
bullying in order to obtain his desire. Guys need to learn to say 'no' to themselves.
The best time to exercise 'choice' or 'control over one's body' is before, not after.
In short, unexamined partisan tradition has drawn a halo around a disgusting practice which would be called 'murder' if only the victims were able to cry out.

США до такой степени напоминает СССР, что трудно отличить! Как и в СССР 80-х старики у власти, которые пользуются теми же старыми методами, пытаясь решить новые проблемы.

It’s time now for Bernie , the legitimate choice for the democratic candidate for president, to just not care what THEY say, and tell it like it IS.

Common sense was developed in human brain when they were trying to survive in the plains of Africa thousands of years ago. Common sense is a survival mechanism, it is not an achievement and it is definitely not a reference for a smart thinking. Proof - humans don’t have any “common”sense to understand quantum mechanics, and even basic laws of physics took thousands of years to understand. Common sense is usually not involved in scientific experiments and analysis.
So when you praise someone for having common sense, you actually say that they are slightly smarter than a primitive apes.

Common sense and some courage coming President of the United States Joe Biden. Bernie Sanders is no true leader. Speaking from a person who voted against the nomination of Bernie Sanders as President of the United States in the Democratic Party primaries in 2016 and 2020.

Thank you Mr Sanders for showing us what a politician should be. Standing up for what is moral and purting humanity first.
