    Looks great and a nice use of that engine! How does it perform torque-wise compared to the electric engines, can in climb a steeper slope? What is the range of the vehicle with one charge of air?

    • @GreenGeckoLegoTechnicWorkshop
      @GreenGeckoLegoTechnicWorkshop  Před 6 lety +21

      Thanks, electric motors that are a equivalent in total power are always going to be better for start up torque. However LPE's like this one compared to LEGO line up of Electric motors produce many times the power for the same size and weight, remember you also need battery packs for the motors. This engine (on 55 psi) has about the power of 4-5XL's running on 9v, approximately. As seen in the Chassis video this truck can climb small slopes and go over rough terrain, but it can't go up 40 degree slopes like LEGO trial trucks built for competition. But then it was built to be a Trial Truck, only a Scale truck. on 4.5L of Air (at 55psi) it will run for around 1 minute (on concrete), i'm not sure how far. probably like 100m or so.

      Green Gecko Lego Technic Workshop out of curiosity, do you think you can use an electronic motor that spins a pneumatic, creating a continuous supply of compressed air instead of those clunky bottles? That way the electric engine would keep on making compressed air until the battery drains, lasting much longer

    • @EagleAirOne
      @EagleAirOne Před 4 lety

      @@cyborgpunk6668 pumps of any kind thatll fit on the truck will not be able to produce that much in so little time. A costly, but likely effective solution would be buying a paintball tank pumped up to either 3000 or 4500 psi. Buy regulators to reduce the psi output.
      .45 liters of air compressed to 4500 psi is the equivalent of about 36 liters of air compressed to 55 psi. Not sure how to do the math on that, but it would last hopefully a few more minutes than the 4.5 liter 55 psi solution

    • @cessnafun5385
      @cessnafun5385 Před 3 lety

      @@GreenGeckoLegoTechnicWorkshop You could potentially put a small air compressor on the chassis itself, connected to the air tanks. It could then be controlled by another electric motor to turn it on and off. Run low on PSI? Pump it up again without having to stand up.

      thank you, it depends on how much air the tanks can hold. i have a 4.5L tank on there because it fitting nicely, i could have them at a pressure like 150 psi then i would have a lot more run time. You got to remember that the tank volume and run time ratio is not linear, since the pneumatic engines need a certain a mount of pressure to run. all i need it a air regulator and this truck could go for like 4-5 minutes rather than 1 minute which is how long it drives on a tank at 55psi. Have you thought about making a canvas roof over the back to cover up the bottles?

    Nice! I was thinking about those 1lb propane camping bottles for air. Obviously either way u must have a regulator to cut down even 55 psi. How much air pressure does this in line 6 cyl need to operate at this level?

    What's the best way to build up a lego technic collection? mine consists of the tracked racer set right now.

    You should make a custom cover for the rear! Because then you will be able to cover the engine and the bottles yet still it will be like the real one
