@@sierralovesdogs This is our 3rd trip since 2017. We had to cut our 21’ trip short because my wife’s mom became gravely ill and eventually passed so we’re coming back and opening with the Road to Hana for 2 days then staying on Kaanapali Beach for a week

Heading for Maui for our sixth time in may. Staying at the Papakea resort for the first time (5 times at Valley Isle resort). Nice to see it up close. Heart broken all our favorite Lahaina hang outs are burned to the ground. Want to support their economy and see old friends. Thanks for great videos!
We LOVE Papakea. Definitely check out the food truck park next door! (Shown in Part 1). Yes it’s really so sad - our favorite restaurants are gone. Miss Fleetwood’s!!!
How warm is the water?? I keep reading that it’s 75 but that seems kinda cold 🥶😭
Oh great question Jordan! I got in the ocean a couple of times and once in and swimming actively I felt fine. However when we were snorkeling and just hovering over schools of fish I got cold after about 30 minutes and had to come out. Hope that helps. Are you planning a trip?
@@sierralovesdogs I was looking to go in April but when I swim in 75 degree weather I get freezing so I just wanted to ask around 🤣
@@Jordankuenster This was end Feb/early March. I would assume a bit warmer in April. Honestly it wasn't that bad if you were moving in my opinion! Good luck!
6-13th of March, 2024. Kihei, South-West of Maui, (Makena beach). The weather was gorgeous, water was very warm. We saw the humpback whales jus from the beach line. It was exiting experience.
When we traveled up North (Paia area)- water was a little bit colder and wind was much stronger (great for surfing)
@@user-fn5lk4dk2l so amazing to see the whales! Interesting about the water being colder more north. We didn’t go in in Wailea but agree there was a difference even between Ka’anapali and DT Fleming.
