  • Our Second episode. We have moved to a little place on the river Lot in South West France. But will Brexit put a stop to our idyllic river life? Will we be forced to have to return every 90 days to our boat in the island of Jersey. Or will our application for a one year Tourist Long Stay Visa (TLS) be successful. france-visas.gouv.fr/en/royau... #movingtofrance #brexit #newlife #riverlot #france #tls

    I'm always interested in the details of a move to another country. It's so hard to anticipate everything in a move, so the stories of others who have gone ahead are so helpful! I lived for a month on Bréhat one summer, and it was a great trip of my life. I hope to move permanently to France someday soon. So many old friends to leave behind though. It does make me move very slowly on this project.

      You’re so right. It so hard to anticipate everything, the bureaucracy puts most people off from moving, but it shouldn’t. We just take each hurdle at a time and go for it! Leaving friends is very hard too. But you do get quality time with them when they stay to visit! But do take your time with your decision as everyone’s situation is different, so make sure the move is right for you!

    We used to live in Jersey. While there, we bought a little bite in france, near Dinan. Only go once a year now as its pretty far lol.

    It seems a little bit weird to not get the long term visa before selling the house in Jersey and buying the one in France.

      Yes! It was a bit of an impulse purchase as we didn’t want to miss out on the French villa. However we are so glad we did it, bit by bit it gets easier and easier.

      @@richard_hall Hey there, I was wondering about this too, but didn't want to say anything. But look, as a guy selling 2 houses in an attempt to get my France move to happen before Christmas, I know that feeling of "let's get it going already!" And my plan for next year is to finally have a live aboard sized motor-boat! So I look forward to your future videos. And I know it'll work out--the property purchase, I'm sure, goes a long way in the visa department.
      Oh, and best of luck with the language-I practice daily, but those words are not made for an English speaking mouth...

      In French they say a dogs bark is Waouh, waouh .. Dylan’s bark is very much a woof woof.., hope that helps! 😂

    Hope you get things sorted but I am afraid the French like the Spanish make it as hard as possible so silly they lose out but love your house all the very best x

      The EU countries "punishing" the UK for Brexit, eh? You read that in the Daily Mail or Express?

    • @richard_hall
      @richard_hall  Před 21 dnem

      I honestly think change is on its way. I’m sure they will relax the rules, even a little by the end of this year. I hope so, because I’m counting on it! Re the house thank you it’s the reason we are here and battling the bureaucracy :)

      Do you know that these "silly" rules for 3rd countries were push by the UK when still in the EU ?
      Punish by the rules you voted it's "l'arroseur arrosé" !

      The French or Spanish did not make it hard.
      The self imposed brexit made it hard.
